Secondary school science teachers' preception on inquiry learning was investigated by using questionnaires. According to these results, science teachers, who are participants of the current Korea National Science Curriculum, responded that raising the 'interest in science' was the most important objective of science education, and using practical scientific subject matters in class will do such. More than 72% of science teachers have used reconstructed materials. When reconstructed textbook contents were used, teachers through that the most important object is the 'acquirement of scientific knowledge'. Most science teachers perceived inquiry leaning as a student centered open investigation. Among factors that disturb inquiry leaning, critical ones were 'entrance examination', 'lake of teaching-leaning materials', 'little understanding of inquiry leaning', and 'lake of student's will to inquiry'.
The aim of this study was to use narrative inquiry to explore the experiences of medical students who faced expulsion, military service, and readmission, and their journeys of identity formation. Three medical students were recruited via snowball sampling, and each participant was interviewed twice. According to the sequence of experiences, their stories were summarized as follows: the process of being expelled, the military service experience and readmission process, and the present. Before all three students were expelled, they lived dissolute lives free of concern from the entrance examination and failed to cope well with dropping out. They felt that military experience had helped them develop interpersonal skills in the clinical setting and the strength to withstand a difficult crisis. Two students were motivated to become doctors after military service, but the other was not. They had reflected deeply over their unique experiences. The scars imprinted from their experiences became a means of stimulation, and they ultimately acquired the resilience and ability to accommodate for and counteract their weaknesses. This appears to have been an important influence on their identity formation. The narrations of their rare experiences can help medical educators more fully understand and support medical students through difficulties, specifically with regard to academic failure or expulsion. These findings may prompt medical professors to think about the kind of guidance or motivation that could help students before expulsion, rather than assuming that they are simply lacking academic ability.
Accurate measurement of the absorbed dose and the effective dose is required in dental panoramic radiography involving relatively low energy with a rotational X-ray tube system using long exposures. To determine the effectiveness of measuring the irradiation by using passive dosimetry, we compared the entrance skin doses by using a radiophotoluminescent glass dosimeter (RPL) and an optically stimulated luminescence detector (OSL) in a phantom model consisting of nine and 31 transverse sections. The parameters of the panoramic device were set to 80 kV, 4 mA, and 12 s in the standard program mode. The X-ray spectrum was applied in the same manner as the panoramic dose by using the SpekCalc Software. The results indicated a mass attenuation coefficient of $0.008226cm^2/g$, and an effective energy of 34 keV. The equivalent dose between the RPL and the OSL was calculated based on a product of the absorbed doses. The density of the aluminum attenuators was $2.699g/cm^3$. During the panoramic examination, tissue absorption doses with regard to the RPL were a surface dose of $75.33{\mu}Gy$ and a depth dose of $71.77{\mu}Gy$, those with regard to the OSL were surface dose of $9.2{\mu}Gy$ a depth dose of $70.39{\mu}Gy$ and a mean dose of $74.79{\mu}Gy$. The effective dose based on the International Commission on Radiological Protection Publication 103 tissue weighting factor for the RPL were $0.742{\mu}Sv$, $8.9{\mu}Sv$, $2.96{\mu}Sv$ and those for the OSL were $0.754{\mu}Sv$, $9.05{\mu}Sv$, and $3.018{\mu}Sv$ in the parotid and sublingual glands, orbit, and thyroid gland, respectively. The RPL was more effective than the OSL for measuring the absorbed radiation dose in low-energy systems with a rotational X-ray tube.

This research was conducted to identify the factors that cause school related stress among middle school students, and to develop countermeasures in order to prevent the rebellious acts of middle school students that are on the rise and to pursue after effective guidance measures. To achieve these research objectives, 856 questionnaires were distributed to the two middle schools, situated in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi Province, and these questionnaires were analyzed, using the SPSS statistical package program. The conclusions were as follows; 1. Perceived factors for School Related Stress Overall average of the perceived degree school related stress factors was a level that goes beyond the normalcy. Stress on the grade was the highest Among these, the average of question items that addressed decrease in grade was the highest of all items followed by class factors, teacher-related factors, friend-related factors, and environmental factors. Accordingly, this research demonstrated that the students feel pressured by the university entrace examination and a school life that is focused on grades. The teacher-related factors and class factors were higher than the average, and others were relatively low. 2. School Related Stress according by Individual All the factors for school related stress were statistically significant difference according to the gender, and teacher-related factors, class factors, and environmental factors were statistically significant difference according to their school years. Their grade made their grade factors statistically significant difference, and the number of friends produced a statistically significant difference result on the teacher-related factors. Wheather they had extra classes or not made a statistically significant difference result on the class factors and environmental factors, and especially the time of doing physical exercises produced statistically significant difference on the environmental factors. 3. Countermeasures for School Related Stress according by Individual As for the countermeasures for school related stress according to the individuality, the active reacting was statistically significant difference according to the gender index, and the student's degree to react passively was statistically significant difference according to their grade. The students in different school years showed statistically significant difference reactions in both passive ways and active ways. students tended to react differently in an unreality index. Lastly, Wheather they had extra classes and physical exercises made then to react passively or actively. When the results are compiled, students are most affected by the stress related to grades, which reflected the university entrance examination oriented school life. An alternative is that the development of educational program that factors in the students' talents and aptitude is needed urgently. Moreover, character and career path related guidance and education are just as important as the academics. Given that the stress factors exert some degree of influence on the countermeasures, it is necessary to block the factors in advance and for all the teachers and parents to make an effort to react actively.

This study analyzed the problem associated with inquiry centered science education and formulated some improvement Strategies for inquiry learning in the standard Korean high school course. In order to attain the goals of questionaire survey methods were used. To examine the current status of biology education, seperate questionaires were developed through an educational research and development procedure used for tearchers and student. The questionaires were developed to ask about instruction and evaluation methods, the level of inquiry learing and abstacles to it. Here are some of our results: 1) Biology instruction and learning is more knowledge-orinted than inquiry-orinted, 2) Inquiry approach in science teaching is hard to be applied because of crowed classroom conditions. 3) The material is too broad in range and too difficult in content. There is virtually nothing that can be related to everyday life. The material focusing on inquiry activities is unsatisfactorily selected and organized. 4) Effective methods of inquiry-based instruction and evaluation are not available. 5) Biology teachers are burdened with too many class hour a week and too many varieties of additional works. 6) 91.1% of biology teachers and 90.3% of students recognize that lab and field works are needed to enhance inquiry learning. However, in reality, such inquiry activities are lacking. 7) 73.3% of schools have no lab assistants. 8) The university entrance examination is the greatest factor against inquiry learning. 9) There are very few chances of in-service education for biology teachers to learn more about biology curriculum and science education theory.
In the Netherlands, Streefland(Elbers, 2003) gave a solution on how teachers can help students to participate in the process of knowledge construction by investigating constructions and activities of a community of inquiry for a primary school students(between 11 and 13 years of age). In Australia, Goos(2004) analyzed the teacher's role in creating a classroom culture of inquiry, which appeared to be taken for granted by the Grade 12 group, for the Grade 11 students by classroom observation and interviews. In Korea, because of diverse obstacles with a university entrance examination, a study about teacher's role in inquiry-oriented instruction for high school mathematics schooling has rarely appeared in the literature. The purpose of this study is to investigate teacher's role for promoting and managing inquiry-oriented mathematics instruction effectively by a case study. To fulfill this purpose, we develop inquiry-oriented instruction model by investigating teacher's role as an assistant for helping students to do mathematical activity.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship creativity and motivation. The subjects were 297 gifted students, selected in the examination for entrance to the Science Education Institute for the Gifted located Jeonbuk. To compare the gifted students' creativity and motivation with the normal students', this study used the standardized test, the Creativity Inventory for Students(by Choi & Lee, 2004) and Multi-Dimensional Learning Strategy Test(by Park, 2006). The major results of this study were as follows; First, The gifted students group was high group in the creativity, and especially the gifted girls were significantly higher than the gifted boys. Second, learning motivation of the gifted students were high or than the normal students and the gifted students were inclined to cope actively to challenge situation rather than avoid. Third, The Creativity showed the positive relationship with learning motivation, the negative relationship with avoid motivation, and moderate relationship with competitive motivation. This result suggested that it is very important to encourage gifted students to the intrinsic motivation rather than extrinsic motivation like competition or achievement in education.

Recently, social problem of teens becomes one of the important social issues. Adolescence is the intermediate stages of childhood and adulthood. Teens have not find their identity at this time. That reason is why teens and the old generation are disconnect. That arise from the development of industry and the nuclear family, entrance examination-oriented education system. So they are wandering in the popular culture and the cyber-space. Therefore, families, schools and state should have interesting and understanding for teens, and should strive that teens establish a self established identity. Specially, ethics education using traditional culture will help to establish their identity, and that provide self-esteem and pride about korean traditional culture. This is the reason why culture contents that is based on Korean traditional culture have to make for teens. The purpose of this study is to provide the basic data that will help in the development Korean traditional cultural contents for teens. In this study, this researchers will search the following matters; first, what is ritual for Coming-of-age, second, various forms of ritual for Coming-of-age and Korean modern ritual in order to grasp the meaning of the ritual for Coming-of-age, third, costume and meaning of costume which has in both Kwan-Ryea as Korean traditional ritual for Coming-of-age and Korean modern ritual. Purpose: The characteristics of spatial allocation planning in dentistry through examining the dental hospitals in Korea and comparison between them are necessary for the development of planning of the dental healthcare system. This study has been started to provide basic informations such as zoning, allocation distribution, and space configuration for the planning of dental hospital architecture. Methods: Literature review of dental care departments and investigation on current status of dental hospital in Korea have been conducted. The spatial allocation and space configuration of eleven dental hospitals have been analyzed. Results: The result of this study can be summarized in three points. The first one is that dental hospitals in Korea are consisted with eight to eleven dental care departments and they are divided with the horizontal allocation type with three to four departments in a floor for the spatial communication or the vertical allocation type with a department in each floor for the independent space. The second one is that oral medicine and oral maxillofacial radiology are located near the main entrance, orthodontics and pedodontic dentistry in lower level, prosthodontics in upper level, and conservative dentistry and periodontics have no specific spatial consideration. The third one is that the factors to consider the allocation planning are zoning for examination & diagnosis, basic practice, adolescence, surgery, circulations for patient, dentist, staff, different access for department like as easy access for reception and pedodontic dentistry, enclosure space for prosthodontics and surgery, frequency of visit and treatment care time, and change of treatment concept from treatment department to disease control corporative practice. Implications: This study is the starting point for the research of spatial configuration in dentistry and it is necessary to analyze the architectural planning to develop the dental healthcare system.
