  • The unit-water content of concrete is one of the important factors in determining the quality of concrete and is directly related to the durability of the construction structure, and the current method of measuring the unit-water content of concrete is applied by the Air Meta Act and the Electrostatic Capacity Act. However, there are complex and time-consuming problems with measurement methods. Therefore, high frequency moisture sensor was used for quick and high measurement, and unit-water content of mortar was evaluated through machine running and deep running based on measurement big data. The multi-input deep learning model is as accurate as 24.25% higher than the OLS linear regression model, which shows that deep learning can more effectively identify the nonlinear relationship between high-frequency moisture sensor data and unit quantity than linear regression.

  • According to the MARPOL 73/78 of Convention, all ships should have oil filtering equipment and 15 ppm bilge which satisfy Requirements of MARPOL 73/78. This study is concerned with designing and manufacturing a prototype Oil content Meter(OCM) used in machinery area of ship. The prototype OCM is composed of two parts which are oil content sensing module and data processing unit. The oil content sensing module consists of infra-red light source, photo-diode light receivers, and a glass tube for bilge water sample. The data processing unit has a micro-processor as hard core and peripheral devices. The experimental results of prototype OCM and analysis of collected data reveal linear property between transmitted light and scattered light as long as the bilge water has low level content of oil. And this linear property leads to a oil content detecting method which is programmed and loaded into the data processing unit. The performance of the prototype OCM is compared with that of the commercial OCM in the market.

  • In this study, it was selected that in order to make an investigation into the status of the unit water content control of the ready-mixed concrete plants in the country, Capacitance Measurement Method out of various methods which are able to gauge the amount of unit water content in fresh concrete. Then, it were estimated that the quantity of unit water in fresh concrete and the technical standard of every mixture design of the six ready-mixed concrete plants chosen at random in the country. Finally, based on this study, it was proposed as fundamental data to utilize measurement techniques of the quantity of unit water for the quality control of the ready-mixed concrete in construction field.

  • Recently, many methods to evaluate the water content in concrete were developed. In this study, using a commercially avaliable equipment by the unit volume weight method, the water content in concrete was estimated when the moisture content in sand was changed. In order to evaluate the accuracy and the usefulness of the method, the designed water content and the measured water content were compared. The compressive strength of concrete with the variation of moisture content in sand was measured as well. As a result, it appears that in order to predict the water content in concrete, the adjustment coefficient of aggregate should be exactly estimated. It is shown that the equipment tends to underestimate the water content in concrete.

Expansion ratio estimation of expandable foam grout using unit weight

  • In urban areas, appropriate backfilling design is necessary to prevent surface subsidence and subsurface cavities after excavation. Expandable foam grout (EFG), a mixture of cement, water, and an admixture, can be used for cavity filling because of its high flowability and volume expansion. EFG volume expansion induces a porous structure that can be quantified by the entrapped air content. This study observed the unit weight variations in the EFG before and after expansion depending on the various admixture-cement and water-cement ratios. Subsequently, the air content before and after expansion and the gravimetric expansion ratios were estimated from the measured unit weights. The air content before expansion linearly increased with an increase in the admixture-cement ratio, resulting in a decrease in the unit weight. The air content after the expansion and the expansion ratio increased nonlinearly, and the curves stabilized at a relatively high admixture-cement ratio. In particular, a reduced water-cement ratio limits the air content generation and expansion ratio, primarily because of the short setting time, even at a high admixture-cement ratio. Based on the results, the relationship between the maximum expansion ratio of EFG and the mixture ingredients (water-cement and admixture-cement ratios) was introduced.

  • The performance of concrete mainly depend upon its water-cement ratio. If water percentage is excess in concrete, it may cause the degradation of performance. Because of these reasons, the change of water content is managed by using various evaluation method of unit water content. And criterion for the change of water content is regulated and used. However the criterion is set only considering production error and measurement error but criterion does not consider performance degradation of concrete. Therefore this study tries to investigate degradation of performance while adding extra water by artificial manipulation or management error in concrete, The contents of extra water for tests are set as 0, 20, 40, 60kg/m3, to examine the performance degradation of concrete, strength, shrinkage, cracks, carbonation are tested This study conclude that, when extra water content is excess than 20kg/m3 in concrete, then performance level of concrete declined rapidly. 80 it is very important to maintain quality of concrete for its better performance.

  • On investigation about quick measurement technology of unit water at range of W/B=35% in high strength, the average error of the Di-electric constant moisture tester A has measured more than $23.0kg/m^3$ unit water content of design and the average error of the method of unit volume weigh was less than $-9.6kg/m^3$. The average error with mixing factor has influenced with a kind of sand, but had not influenced with unit water content of design. Therefore, it will be for introduce business decide require more than a study about cement, sand, superplasticizer, etc.

  • Variations in soil physical and chemical properties can affect agricultural productivity and the environmental implications of crop production. These variations are present and may be important at regional, field, and sub-field (precision agriculture) scales. Because traditional measurements are time-consuming and expensive, reflectance-based estimates of soil properties such as texture, organic matter content, water content, and nutrient status are attractive. Soil properties have been related to reflectance measured with laboratory, in-field, airborne, and satellite sensors. Both multispectral and hyperspectral instruments have been used, with both natural and artificial illumination. Varying levels of accuracy have been obtained, with the best results (r > 0.95) using hyperspectral reflectance data to estimate soil organic matter and water content.

  • 콘크리트내의 수량이 증가하면 내구성저하등에 다양한 문제점이 발생한다. 이러한 이유로 단위수량의 측정방법인 정전용량법, 고주파가열법, 단위용적질량법을 이용하여 단위수량의 변동을 관리하고 있다. 특히 일본에서는 단위수량 변동$({\pm}10,\;15,\;20kg/m^3$ 등)에 대한 관리지침을 규정하고 있다. 그러나 일본의 지침은 내구성 저하를 고려하지 않고 있으며, 제조오차와 측정오차를 확률적으로 고려하여 합부 판정기준 값을 정하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 관리오차에 의한 가수 및 인위적인 가수 등에 의한 콘크리트 내의 수량 변화가 콘크리트의 내구성저하에 미치는 영향을 검토하고자 하였다.

  • Generally, Adiabatic temperature rise and temperature rise rate are reported to increases when placement temperature, W/B and the unit water content is fixed. In this study, properties of adiabatic temperature rise on placement temperature consider the hot weather environments from of W/B 0.29, 0.34, 0.40 was reviewed, the amount of cement on mixing condition of the same W/B and unit water content evaluated on the impact of the adiabatic temperature rise. As a results, the adiabatic temperature rise of concrete is proportionate to binder as well as the cement content under the same unit water content.
