  • This paper presents a composite luminance signal processing system for NTSC, PAL and SECAM standards. Eaxh of the three standards employs its own specifications of subcarmier bandwidth and luminance signal waveform. The proposed system, compatible to the specifications of the three standard and B/W TV, implements variable freqneucy characteristics by controlling filter coefficients. The major features of the system are a luminance/chroma separation unit and an aperture compensation unit. The luminance/chroma separation unit employes a notch filter selection a trap freqneyc to atenuate unwanted color signals in luminance signal bands. The aperture compensation unit comprises two subunits, to provide clear color definition for each of the three standards: a primary compensation circuit and a variable compensation circuits. The proposed system yields a 40 dB gain from the chroma/luminance separation and a 10 dB gain from the aperture compensation unit.

  • This paper was studied the double-band monopole antenna design with Mu-negative metamaterial unit cell, which operates at 700MHz and 2.45GHz band. Mu-negative unit cell made of the interdigital capacitor structure to operate a double-band antenna by inserting it into an antenna radiator unit. In addition, the parasitic conductor is implemented on the back side of the antenna radiation part, so that the resonance point of the antenna can be controlled and the bandwidth is improved. Finally, we implemented an antenna operating in the 750MHz UHD band and the 2.45GHz WiFi band. The designed antenna has a size of $200{\times}100mm^2$. Experimental results show that the 8dB bandwidth and gain characteristics at 750MHz band are 320MHz(42.7%), 5.28dB, 6dB bandwidth and gain at 2.45GH are 540MHz (21.6%), -0.46dB. From the experimental results, we confirmed that the resonance point with theoretical value is in agreement with experimental value, and the radiation patterns are have the omnidirectional characteristic in both bands.

  • In this paper, a broadband double dipole quasi-Yagi antenna using a 4×2 meander line array structure for maintaining 8 dBi gain was studied. The 4×2 meanderline array structure consists of a unit cell in the shape of a meanderline conductor, and it was placed above the second dipole antenna of the double dipole quasi-Yagi antenna. A double dipole quasi-Yagi antenna with generally used multiple strip directors was designed on an FR4 substrate with the same size, and the input reflection coefficient and gain characteristics were compared. Comparison results showed that the impedance frequency bandwidth increased by 6.3% compared to when using the multiple strip directors, the frequency bandwidth with a gain of 8 dBi or more increased by 10.1%, and average gain also slightly increased. The frequency band of the fabricated antenna for a voltage standing wave ratio less than 2 was 1.548-2.846 GHz(59.1%), and gain was measured to be more than 8 dBi in the 1.6-2.8 GHz band.

  • In this paper, a high gain-broad bandwidth MMIC distributed amplifier was designed using cascaded single section distributed amplifier configuration. The PHEMT for this studies was fabricated at our lab The PHEMT has a 0.2 $\mu\textrm{m}$ gate length. a 80 $\mu\textrm{m}$ unit gate width and 4 gate fingers. A designed MMIC amplifier have higher S$\sub$21/ gain than the common distributed amplifier using the same number of active devices. From the simulated result, we obtained that the S$\sub$21/ gain of DC ∼ 20 GHz bandwidth was 15.6 dB and flatness was ${\pm}$0.9 dB, and input and output reflection coefficient were lower than -8 dB. The simulated gain shows an improvement 7.3 dB compared with those of conventional distributed amplifier. And the chip size is 2.0 ${\times}$ 1.2 $\textrm{mm}^2$.

  • In this paper, we propose the novel test method effectively to detect short and open faults in CMOS op-amp. The proposed method uses a sinusoidal signal with higher frequency than unit gain bandwidth. Since the proposed test method doesn't need complex algorithm to generate test pattern, the time of test pattern generation is short, and test cost is reduced because a single test pattern is able to detect all target faults. To verify the proposed method, CMOS two-stage operational amplifier with short and open faults is designed and the simulation results of HSPICE for the circuit have shown that the proposed test method can detect short and open faults in CMOS op-amp.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel test method to effectively detect hard and soft faults in CMOS 2-stage op-amps. The proposed method uses a very high frequency sinusoidal signal that exceeds unit gain bandwidth to maximize the fault effects. Since the proposed test method doesn't require any complex algorithms to generate the test pattern and uses only a single test pattern to detect all target faults, therefore test costs can be much reduced. The area overhead is also very small because the CUT is converted to a unit gain amplifier. Using HSPICE simulation, the results indicated a high degree of fault coverage for hard and soft faults in CMOS 2-stage op-amps. To verify this proposed method, we fabricated a CMOS op-amp that contained various short and open faults through the Hyundai 0.65-um 2-poly 2-metal CMOS process. Experimental results for the fabricated chip have shown that the proposed test method can effectively detect hard and soft faults in CMOS op-amps.

  • In this paper, an EBG(Electromagnetic BandGap) resonator antenna with a stripline type FSS(Frequency Selective Surface) superstrate for PCS-band base station antennas is proposed. The characteristics of resonant frequency and -3dB bandwidth of a unit cell of a superstrate are first analyzed by varing several design parameters such as a strip width and a unit cell width in order to design an EBG resonator antenna satisfying the required antenna gain and bandwidth for PCS-band base station antennas. Among various unit cell shapes, strip dipole and stripline are considered and their characteristics are compared. It was found that a resonant length of the EBG resonator antenna becomes smaller when the stripline shape is used and the control of the bandwidth is also much easier. By using the unit cell simulation results, planar and cylindrical EBG resonator antennas at PCS-band are designed.

  • CMOS analog lowpass filters using speech signal bandwidth for a Asymmetrical Digital Subscriver Line(ADSL) modem are presented. Designed active lowpass filters are composed of the CMOS complementary high-swing cascode stage which can increase transconductance of an active element. As a result, their cutoff frequency are 138kHz and 1,100kHz respectively. A low-voltage high-swing cascode integrator which improved on a gain and unit gain frequency used to design the filters. The designed filters are verified by HSPICE simulation with the $0.251{\mu}m\;CMOS\;n-well$ Parameter and a single 2.5V power supply.

  • Not all CCD pixels generate uniform value for the uniform radiance due to the different process of manufacture and each pixel characteristics. And the image data compression is essential in the real time image transmission because of the high line rate and the limited RF bandwidth. This pixel's nonuniformity and the loss compression make CCD pixel correction necessary in on-orbit condition. In the MSC system, the NUC unit, which is a part of MSC PMU, is charge of the correction for CCD each pixel. The correction is performed with the gain and the offset table for the each pixel and the each TDI mode. These correction tables are generated and programmed in the PMU Flash memory through the various image data tests at the ground test. Besides, they can be uploaded from ground station after onorbit calibration. This paper describes the principle of the table generation and the test way of the non-uniformity after NUC

  • This paper presents a new reflectarray antenna capable with 1-bit switchable capability for W-band beamforming network. The proposed antenna has been optimized using two unit-cells with sizes of 1.0 mm and 1.3 mm to form a total number of 193 radiating elements on a square aperture surface of length 30 mm. These radiating elements are spaced 0.5 wavelengths apart and fed by a 15 dBi pyramidal horn antenna as the feed antenna placed 53 mm away from the aperture center. The proposed reflectarray achieves a realized peak gain of 22.52 dBi, a half-power beamwidth of 5.1° in both E- and H-planes at the test frequency of 80 GHz and operates over a wide bandwidth from 74 GHz to 90 GHz.
