  • The purpose of this study was to define the content of requisite human structure and function knowledge needed for clinical knowledge of nursing practice. Subjects of human structure and function were divided into 10 units, and each unit was further divided into 21 subunits, resulting in a total of 90 items. Contents of knowledge of human structure and function were constructed from syllabus of basic nursing subjects in 4 college of nursing, and textbooks published by nurse scholars prepared with basic nursing sciences. The degree of need of 90 items was measured with a 4 point scale. The subjects of this study were college graduated 136 nurses from seven university hospitals in Seoul and three university hospitals located in Chonnam Province, Kyungbook Province, and Inchon. They have been working at internal medicine ward, surgical ward, intensive care unit, obstetrics and gynecology ward, pediatrics ward, opthalmology ward, ear, nose, and throat ward, emergency room, rehabilitation ward, cancer ward, hospice ward, and their working period was mostly under 5 years. The results were as follows: 1. The highest scored items of human structure and function knowledge necessary for nursing practice were electrolyte balance, blood clotting mechanism and anticoagulation mechanism, hematopoietic function, body fluid balance, function of plasma, and anatomical terminology in the order of importance. The common content of human structure and function knowledge need for all clinical areas in nursing was structure and function of blood, hematopoietic function, function of plasm, coagulation mechanism and anticoagulation mechanism, body fluid, electrolyte balance, and acid-base balance. However, the degree of need of each human structure and function knowledge was different depending on clinical areas. 4. Significant differences in human structure and function knowledge necessary for nursing practice such as skin and derivatives of the skin, growth and development of bone, classification of joint, classification of muscle, structure of muscle, function of muscle, function of spinal cord, peripheral nerve, structure and function of pancrease, component and function of blood, function of plasma, structure and function of blood, hemodynamics, respiratory dynamics, gas transport, regulation of respiration, chemical digestion of foods, absorption of foods, characteristics of nutrients, metabolism and hormonal regulation, body energy balance were demonstrated according to the duration of work. 5. Significant differences in human structure and function knowledge necessary for nursing practice such as classification of tissue, classification of muscles, function of muscles, muscle metabolism, classification of skeletal muscles, classification of nervous system, neurotransmitters, mechanism of hormone function, pituitary and pituitary hormone, structure and function of male reproductive organ, structure and function of female reproductive organ, component and function of blood, function of plasma, coagulation mechanism and anticoagulation mechanism, gas exchange, gas transport, regulation of respiration, characteristics of nutrients, energy balance, function of kidney, concept of immunity, classification and function of immunity were shown according to the work area. Based on these findings, all the 90 items constructed by Korean Academic Society of Basic Nursing Science should be included as contents of human structure and function knowledge.

  • Recently maximum likelihood estimators using unconditional likelihood function are used for testing unit roots. When one wants to use this method the determinant term of initial values in the multivariate unconditional likelihood function produces a complicated function of the elements in the coefficient matrix and variance matrix. In this paper an approximation of the determinant term is calculated and based on this aproximation an approximated unconditional likelihood function is calculated. The approximated unconditional maximum likelihood estimators can be used to test for unit roots. When multivariate process has one unit root the limiting distribution obtained by this method and the limiting distribution using exact unconditional likelihood function are the same.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to verify the effect of applying a pressure biofeedback unit on walking ability and knee joint function while performing knee joint extensor strengthening exercises using resistance exercise equipment in total knee replacement (TKR) patients. Methods: This study was conducted on twelve patients receiving rehabilitation treatment after being admitted to a rehabilitation hospital post-TKR. Of these, six were allocated to a feedback group with a pressure biofeedback unit, and the other 6 were allocated to a control group without a pressure biofeedback unit. The subjects performed an exercise program for 45 minutes per session, five times a week, for two weeks. Walking ability and knee joint function were evaluated and analyzed before and after exercise. Results: The feedback group showed significantly better improvements in walking speed, gait cycle, step length on the non-operation side, time on the foot on the operation side, K-WOMAC stiffness, and K-WOMAC function than the control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: When strengthening the knee joint extensor muscles using resistance exercise equipment in TKR patients, the provision of a pressure biofeedback unit was found to improve walking ability and knee joint function by inducing concentric-eccentric contraction of the knee joint extensor muscles. Therefore, the study shows that exercise based on the provision of a pressure biofeedback unit should be considered when strengthening knee joint extensor muscles to improve the walking ability and knee joint function of TKR patients in clinical practice.

  • This paper presents an improved interpolation algorithm which enables to find a unit function in $H^{\infty}$. From the proposed algorithm the interpolation problem on the infinity point with multiplicity can be solved. This is based on the DPL algorithm the acquired unit function has low order and can be directly applied to strong/simultaneous stabilization problem in control systems. Finally, we verify that poles of transfer function of closed-loop system exist in stable region while investgating internal stability.

  • A method of the leak detection from the pipe system by using accelerometer is proposed. The signal detected from accelerometer is proved experimentally to be a dispersive wave. Based on the experiments, a method using the narrow band pass filter and the unit impulse response function is analyzed. The method uses the characteristics of the unit impulse response function, that the function is available evenin the narrow band signal because, unlike the cross correlation, it is normalized by the auto spectrum. The accelerometer is quite easier to use than the hydrophone in adapting to the pipe system.

  • In this paper, a multi-function processor unit is implemented for binary image processing. This unit consists of a set of address generatior, window pipeline register, look up table, control unit, and two local memories .The merits of multi-function processor unit are more simpler than basic SAP and improved disposal speed. A simple software selection give the various choices of image sizes and it can process the function of smoothing, thinning, feature extraction, and edge detection, selectively or sequentially.

  • We consider a different version of Schwarz Lemma for λ-spirallike function of complex order at the boundary of the unit disc D. We estimate the modulus of the angular derivative of the function $\frac{zf^{\prime}(z)}{f(z)}$ from below for λ-spirallike function f(z) of complex order at the boundary of the unit disc D by taking into account the zeros of the function f(z)-z which are different from zero. We also estimate the same function with the second derivatives of the function f at the points z = 0 and z = z0 ≠ 0. We show the sharpness of these estimates and present examples.

  • We study a singular function which we call a generalized cylinder convex(concave) function induced from different generalized dyadic expansion systems on the unit interval. We show that the generalized cylinder convex(concave)function is a singular function and the length of its graph is 2. Using a local dimension set in the unit interval, we give some characterization of the distribution set using its derivative, which leads to that this singular function is nowhere differentiable in the sense of topological magnitude.
