SHANSEP method involves the consolidation to stresses in excess of the preconsolidation pressure in order to overcome sample disturbance effect. The concept of SHANSEP is based on an approach to laboratory test which attempts to reproduce the in-situ conditions more closely than is possible in routine tests and evaluates normalized strength parameters for the soil as a function of OCR. But SHANSEP method can be applied only to fairly uniform clay deposits, and is unsuitable for a random deposit. In this study, CK/sub o/U triaxial compression test and incremental loading consolidation test were performed for the application of SHANSEP method on Yangsan clay. During the K/sub o/-consolidation, triaxial specimens were consolidated to stress equal to two times the in-situ vertical effective stress. And for overconsolidated condition, the specimens were swelled to a known vertical effective stress in order to have the desired OCR. With the results of CK/sub o/U triaxial compression test using the block samples, the relationship between c/sub u//σ/sub vc/' and OCR on Yangsan clay was established. For evaluating the undrained shear strength of Yangsan clay with depth, CK/sub o/U triaxial compression test was performed using the piston samples taken from Yangsan site. And also undrained shear strength was analyzed from the in-situ test such as Cone Penetration Test(CPT), Dilatometer Test(DMT), and Field Vane Test(FVT) and was compared with that of CK/sub o/U triaxial compression test.
The main purpose of this work is to determine characteristics of undrained shear strength of remolded marine clay at Incheon. Laboratory vane tests with remolded marine clay sampled from west coast at Incheon were performed to investigate the undrained shear strength of them being dumped for reclamation after dredging from the sea bottom. Test results were compared with the predicted values of undrained shear strength proposed by many researchers. It was found that measured results about undrained shear strength with water content was in good agreements with values proposed by Mikasa and Modified Mikasa's empirical formula.

Cone and T-bar penetrometers have been frequently used to estimate the undrained shear strength of clay. For small-size model tests, miniature penetrometers should be used but their correlation factors have not been well published. In this study, a testing setup was developed to derive empirical factors of the miniature cone and T-bar penetrometers. A 350mm-diameter chamber and kaolin clay were utilized to prepare soil specimens consolidated under four different pre-consolidation pressures controlling undrained shear strength. Two miniature cones with two diameters of 10-mm and 16-mm and a T-bar penetrometer with 10-mm diameter were used to investigate boundary effect, penetration rate effect, and diameter and shape effect. Unconsolidated-undrained triaxial tests were carried out with samples taken from the specimens to measure undrained shear strength. Finally, empirical factors for the penetrometers were constructed to correlate tip resistance to undrained shear strength.

In this study, the characteristics of pullout behavior of Pressurized light-weight steel Anchor was investigated through centrifuge model tests considering pull-out angle $0^{\circ}$ with changing undrained shearstrength(0~1, 2~4, 5~7kPa) of clay. According to the results of tests, the yield pullout load of clay ground was gradually increased up to 30% as undrained shear strength was increased. Therefore, it was known that the yield pullout load was affected by increasing the undrained shear strength, in addition, the pattern of behavior was not changed.
The anisotropy of soils has an important effect on stress-strain behavior. In this study, an attempt has been made to implement artificial neural network model for modeling the stress-strain relationship and predicting the undrained shear strength of normally consolidated clay with varying consolidation pressure ratios. The multi-layer neural network model, adopted in this study, utilizes the error back-propagation loaming algorithm. The artificial neural networks use the results of undrained triaxial test with various consolidation pressure ratios and different effective vertical consolidation pressure fur learning and testing data. After learning from a set of actual laboratory testing data, the neural network model predictions of the undrained shear strength of the normally consolidated clay are found to agree well with actual measurements. The predicted values by the artificial neural network model have a determination coefficient$(r^2)$ above 0.973 compared with the measured data. Therefore, this results show a positive potential for the applications of well-trained neural network model in predicting the undrained shear strength of cohesive soils.

After clay particles have been sediment isotropically, the clay deposits have been consolidated under $K_0$-stress system. Therefore, in order to predict the behavior in-situ of normally consolidated clays, the laboratory test should be enforced under $K_0$-stress system and should obtain the characteristics of normally consolidated clays. And relationship of stress-strain on clay is effected on not only method of consolidation but also characteristic of visco-plastic behavior. Saturated clay is effected more this trend. So, rate of strain is considered to understand exact stress-strain relationship. In this study, the series of undrained triaxial compression tests were preformed on remolded specimens which was made by slurry of clay, consolidated under $K_0$-stress systems. And the undrained triaxial compression test were preformed to examine behavior of stress-strain relationship due to rate of shear strain relationship due to rate of shear strain.
The primary goal was to assess how the addition of cement dust, a byproduct known to be harmful, could be used to stabilize clay. Various percentages of cement dust were added to soil samples, which were then subjected to triaxial testing at different rates of strain using an unconsolidated undrained triaxial machine. Six different rates of strain were applied to analyze the response of the clay under different conditions, resulting in 216 triaxial sample tests. As the percentage of cement dust in the clay samples increased, there was a noticeable increase in the strength properties of the clay, indicating a positive effect of cement dust on the clay's strength characteristics. Higher rates of strain during testing led to increased strength properties of the clay. Varying cement dust content influenced the impact of increasing the rate of strain on the clay's strength properties. Higher cement dust content reduced the sensitivity of the clay to changes in strain rate, indicating that the clay became less responsive to changes in strain rate as cement dust content increased. Potential for Clay Stabilization Cement dust proved the potential to enhance the strength properties of clay, indicating its potential utility in clay stabilization applications. Both higher percentages of cement dust and higher rates of strain were found to increase the clay's strength. It's essential to consider both the percentage of cement dust and the rate of strain when assessing the strength properties of clay in practical applications.

This study proposed a new yield function considering the spacing ratio of the critical state to predict the undrained shear behavior of anisotropic field ground. We have suggested a nonassociated constitutive model that used a newly modified plastic potential function in order to apply the yield function of the modified Cam-Clay model to the anisotropic consolidation. In this paper, we predicted undrained shear behavior of the remolded weathered mudstone soils in Phohang isotorpically and anisotropically consolidated using the suggested model. To evaluate the reliability of proposed model, we predictied undrained shear behavior of Bankok Clay isotropically, nomally consolidated and Drammen Clay Ko consolidated. The predicted results are consistent with the observed behavior.
Although natural soil deposits hat.e been consolidated under Ko-stress system, the soil behavior has been predicted in laboratory from the results of tests performed on specimens consolidated under an isotropic stress s).stem. A series of undrained triaxial compression tests are performed on remolded specimens of clay consolidated under both types of stress systems, and the results at.e compared. One dimensional consolidation history induces anisotropy in clalrs, which is called as the stress induced anisotropy. However, if the clays would be reconsolidated under isotropic stress system. the anisotropy of undrained stress비h would be decreased with decrease of overconsolidation ratio. Undrained shear strength of norma]Iy consolidated clay depends on consolidation methods. Both the Rutledge hypothesis and the study of Henkel and Sowa do not agree with the test results obtained in this paper. In addition, a new theory is explained about the relationships between consolidation stresses, water contents and undiained shear strength.

In this study, aluminum electrodes were put in marine clay which was taken from the south coast in Korea to increase the undrained shear strength by inducing the densification and cementation between clay particles and precipitates which were developed by electric decomposition in an electrode. To raise the cementation rate and reduce treatment time, high electric current (2.5A) was applied in each electrode at a semi-pilot scale soil box with marine clay. After the tests, the undrained shear strength was measured at designated points using a static cone penetration test device and sampling was conducted simultaneously in order to measure water content, pH and electric conductivity which would be the key for configuring the cementation effects indirectly. In the results of electric decomposition in aluminum electrode, the measured shear strength was increased considerably compared to the initial shear strength because of the cementation effect between iron ions and soil particles.
