Analysis of Machine Learning Education Tool for Kids

  • Artificial intelligence and machine learning are used in many parts of our daily lives, but the basic processes and concepts are barely exposed to most people. Understanding these basic concepts is becoming increasingly important as kids don't have the opportunity to explore AI processes and improve their understanding of basic machine learning concepts and their essential components. Machine learning educational tools can help children easily understand artificial intelligence and machine learning. In this paper, we examine machine learning education tools and compare their features.

  • 정의의 정확한 이해, 수학개념의 이해, 정리나 공식의 이해와 활용에 대해 이해력의 수준을 알아보기 위해 학생들에게 이들에 관한 문제를 이용한 검사를 하고 수학의 기본개념과 내용에 대한 이해를 하는데 도움을 줄 수 있는 방법을 정리하면, 1) 검사에 이용된 문제가 정확히 이해도를 측정했는지 깊이 있는 연구가 필요하며, 2) 정의, 공식, 정리의 이해와 활용에 예나 반례를 보이고 조건이 빠지면 변화되는 상황에 대한 설명이 더 체계적이어야 이해의 폭을 넓힐 수 있으며, 3) 새로운 내용이 도입될 경우 기본개념의 중요성을 그 때마다 강조하고 반복 제시를 통해 확실한 이해에 도달하도록 하며, 4) 이해도 측정을 위한 좋은 문제 개발에 노력을 기울이고 대학수학 문제 개발에 수학지도 교수의 관심을 필요로 하며, 5) 학습지도에서 이들 문제를 이용하는 것이 도움을 줄 것이다.

효율적인 공간도형의 방정식 지도에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Teaching Method of Equation of Figure in Space Effectively)

  • Two groups of students, who are the students in the natural science course of high school in Korea, learned the equation of figure in space (point, line, plane) to understand more effectively with two different textbooks. One group was taught with the textbook used now in most high schools and the other group was taught with the textbooks systematized by associating old concept with new concept. The results are as follows : 1) We need understand the basic concept of vector plainly and flexibly to apply it to the solution of problems. 2) It helps students understand new concepts how we should establish the concept about point, line and plane in space by applying the concept about those on XY plane, 3) It is very effective in understanding the new knowledge system more easily to analyze the existent concepts and to arrange them systematically for efficient understanding of new concepts. 4) The texts which consist of contents organized by basic concepts improve students' learning ability.

고등 수학 개념의 올바른 이해를 위한 유의미한 교수법 탐색 (A Search for the meaningful method of teaching for Correct Understanding of Advanced Mathematics Concepts)

  • Many high school students are having difficulties for studying advanced mathematics concepts. It is more complicated than in junior high school and they are losing interest and confidence. In this paper, advanced mathematics concepts are not just basic concepts such as natural numbers, fractions or figures that can be learned through life experience but concepts that are including variables, functions, sets, tangents and limits are more abstract and formal. For the students to understand these ideas is too heavy a burden and so many of the students concentrate their efforts on just memorizing and not understanding. It is necessary to search for a meaningful method of teaching for advanced mathematics that covers deductive methods and symbols. High school teachers are always asking themselves the following question, “How do we help the students to understand the concept clearly and instruct it in a meaningful way?” As a solution we propose the followings : I. To ensure they have the right understanding of concept image involved in the concept definition. II. Put emphasis on the process of making mental representations and the role of intuition. III. To instruct students and understand them as having many chance of the instructional conversation. In conclusion, we studied the meaningful method of teaching with the theory of Ausubel related to the above proposed methods. To understand advanced mathematics concepts correctly, the mutual understanding of both teachers and students is necessary.

이제마의 감정조절법의 기본 개념들에 대한 고찰- 성정(性情), 중화(中和), 지인(知人)을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Basic Concepts of Lee Jema's Emotion Control Method - Focusing on nature-temperament(性情), Junghwa(中和), Jiin(知人) -)

  • Objectives : In order to understand and apply Lee Jema's emotion control method, the basic concepts of his nature-temperament theory was examined. Lee's thoughts on emotion control, and the basic principles of his method were deduced from this process. Methods : The meaning and set-up of basic concepts in his nature-temperament theory as written in text such as the Donguisusebowon, Gyeokchigo, and Donguisusebowon Sasang Chobongwon were examined, and compared with similar concepts of Confucianism. Results & Conclusions : Out of concepts set by Lee, the Ae(哀)-No(怒)-Hui(喜)-Rak(樂) nature-temperament is the condition for emotion control. Junghwa(中和) is the aim of emotion control according to different stages of emotional expression, and Jiin(知人) is the precondition for emotion control. Lee's basic principles of emotion control could be summarized as following. First, it must be done with the aim for 'Goodness[善]' to be manifested. Second, it must be based on clear understanding of 'Insa(人事)'. Lastly, Hoyeonjigi(浩然之氣) and Hoyeonjiri(浩然之理) must be consistently cultivated for stable emotion control.

고등학교 화학II 선택과목 이수가 대학 일반화학의 전기화학 관련 개념의 이해에 미치는 영향: 화학전지를 중심으로 (The Effects of Taking Elective Chemistry II Courses in High School on Understanding Concepts of Electrochemistry in General Chemistry: Focusing on Chemical Cell)

  • 이 연구에서는 대학 신입생을 대상으로 고등학교에서 화학II 선택과목 이수가 대학 일반화학에서 전기화학 관련 개념을 이해하는데 미치는 영향과 개념 변화 유형을 알아보았다. 고등학교에서 화학II 이수 여부에 따라 전기화학 관련 개념의 이해에 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 화학전지의 구별, 전극의 구별, 그리고 전류의 생성과 흐름에 관한 개념의 이해에서 차이가 크게 나타났으나 염다리의 역할, 표준 반쪽 전지의 필요성에서는 유의미한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 화학전지의 생성물과 전지 전위의 예측에서는 화학II를 이수하지 않은 학생 그룹에서 일반화학 수강 후에 개념 이해의 향상이 크게 나타났다. 고등학교에서 전기화학의 기본 개념의 학습이 대학 일반화학에서 전기화학 관련 개념의 이해에 영향을 미치고 있었으나 일반화학을 수강하더라도 몇 가지 관련 개념의 정확한 이해에는 많은 어려움을 가지고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이의 해결을 위해서는 전기화학의 기본 개념에 대하여 보다 정확한 내용의 교육이 이루어질 필요가 있고, 고등학교에서 미리 학습하지 못한 학생들을 위한 적절한 보충 학습을 해야 할 필요성이 있다.

고등학교 생물 '세포' 단원의 개념도에 의한 분석 (An Analysis of Chap. 'The Cell' of High School Biology Textbook by Concept Map)

  • Analyzing textbook is the first step for enhancing the level of biology education especially in Korea. Prior studies of textbook analysis have mostly dealt with such topics as terminology analysis, content analysis, relationship analysis of chapters, and comparative studies. However, not much attention was paid to concept system to be learned and to relevance of concepts chosen. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to clarify the concept system and to elucidate the relationship among concepts for effective learning. Novak's concept map was utilized as a theoretical framework for the analysis of chapter I of high school biology textbook. Concept map has several distinctive merits in many aspects such as teaching, learning, and evaluation. It not only makes the understanding of key concepts and proposition a lot easier, but also helps to link prior knowledge and new concepts more effectively. This study will be a basic material for improving textbook for effective biology learning. The conclusions of the study are as follows: 1. Concepts in subchapters were arranged unsystematically or they were overlapping. For more effective understanding, those items should be rearranged. 2. Key concepts are not arrayed properly according to their hierarchy. Therefore, it was hard for students to set up concept structure. 3. The concepts emphasized by bold letters were not selected properly in accordance with their importance. Appropriate concepts should be chosen. 4. Key concepts should be explained by using examples in everyday life for easy understanding. 5. Many concepts in molecular biology is too abstract to grasp their meaning. Therefore, many audio-visual materials should be used to aid concept building.

한국과 미국의 초등 과학 교육과정 지구영역의 학년 간 내용 연계성 분석 연구 (An Analysis of Sequence of Earth Science Content in Elementary School Curriculum in Korea and the U. S.)

  • The study aims to explore sequence of earth science content in elementary school science curriculum in Korea and the U.S.. The analysis is focused on a) general content structure of earth science part; b) concept relationship between grades in the specific field of 'geology'; c) longitudinal connection of concepts and content in 'geology.' The findings are as follows. First, earth science curriculum content in Korea is structured according to sub-scientific disciplines centering on not science concepts but topics or inquiry activities whereas the U.S. curricular content is organized through integrative earth science topics with basic concepts and sub-concepts. Second, it is a common feature that basic concepts are interrelated to sub-concepts in all grades in both countries. However, basic concepts are scattered all over the grades, presented in a linear pattern in Korea while those are provided together in 3rd grade and repeated with extended concepts in a spiral structure in the U.S.. Last, it is not clear how concepts and content are longitudinally connected between grades in Korean curriculum. On the contrary, concepts and content in the U.S. curriculum have a strong longitudinal connection between grades with conceptual hierarchy. Such results indicate that Korean elementary school science curriculum would limit students' comprehensive understanding of science concepts through grades. The study suggests Korean science content should strengthen interrelationship among concepts as well as longitudinal connection between grades, in order to achieve the ultimate goal of science education, 'scientific literacy'.

생태학적 지식과 관련된 우리나라 환경교육의 실태 분석 (An Analysis for the status of Environmental Education in the light of the Ecological Knowledge in Korea)

  • Environmentally literated students and adults should be able to use and apply the basic ecological concepts when considering environmental problems and issues. Because ecology forms the foundation of environmental education, a review of the literatures on the degree of students' understanding for ecological concepts can provide useful insights for environmental educators. The purposes of this study were as follows: first, to analyse the parts connected with ecological knowledge of two environmental education books, ‘environments’(middle school) and ‘environmental science’(high school), second, to investigate the level of understanding on ecological concepts by the use of new developed instrument. The 20 most important ecological concepts from Cherrett(1989) and the important ecological concepts' lists from Hungerford and Volk(1990), Ramsey, Hungerford and Volk(1992), Volk(1993) would be recognized and endorsed by most environmental educators as concepts essential to environmental literacy, We referenced these informations and sequenced ecological knowledge as four main categories(communities, populations, ecosystem, man as a component of the nature systems). We have used it as a criterion in the analysis of teaching materials and the development of a new test instrument($\alpha$=0.81). According to the analysed results, the understanding levels for scales and relationships of communities, populations, ecosystem were high but those for individual concepts and differences were low. By the analysis of Korean High School EE book, ‘environmental science’, learning for some concepts(succession, material cycling, niche etc.) has pointed out as one of problems. Environmental educators must pay a careful attention to the concepts that showed high rates of incorrect answer and this work will contribute toward consolidating the basis of EE and help the accomplishment of the ultimate goals in EE.

  • 본 논문에서는 수시모집 입학전형에 합격한 대학 입학예정자를 대상으로 P대학에서 시행하고 있는 기초수학 특강에서 학습지도 자료로 활용하기 위하여 실시하는 기초수학 진단평가에서의 사전 검사를 통해 함수, 함수의 연속 및 미분가능에 대한 기초개념을 어느 정도 이해하고 있는지와 어떤 오류를 범하고 있는지를 분석하였다. 또한, 기초수학 특강 최종평가에서의 사후 검사를 통해 기초개념 이해에 대한 오류유형은 어떻게 변화되었는지 살펴보고자 하였다. 여기서, 우리는 연구대상 학생 전체에 대한 오류유형의 변화는 물론, 각 검사문항에 대한 동일 학생의 오류유형이 구체적으로 어떻게 변화되었는지도 분석하였다.
