Underground Cinema and Avant-Garde Art: The Rise of American Independent Cinema

  • The emergence of independent cinema in the United States in the 1960s was the earliest sign of postmodernism in the country, which was often referred to as "underground cinema". The works, in a counter-cultural stance, overturned the thought of depth of traditional art cinema, not exploring the meaningful relationship between form and content in terms of artistic technique, but creating an aesthetic that echoed the "Pop Art" of the time by collaging established means of expression with traditional and fashionable ones in a consumerist manner. In this paper, American independent cinema was examined, firstly by analyzing the local and external factors that contributed to its rise. Secondly, two genres of independent cinema core paradigm, "underground cinema" and "pop cinema" were focused on, as a way of demonstrating the attention and influence that independent cinema has gained. Finally, we found that independent cinemas are also seeking for alternative exploration and diverse expressions in the context of the times.

  • 건설현장은 다른 산업분야와 달리 다양한 형태의 공정을 동시에 진행하는 작업적 특성을 가지고 있어서 사고를 예방하는데 많은 어려움이 있다. 특히 소방설비가 정상적으로 설치되지 않은 상태에서 인화성물질과 화기작업이 동시 다발적으로 진행되는 경우가 많아서 큰 화재사고로 이어지고는 한다. 본 연구에서는 2016년 발생한 김포 화재사고를 통해서 작업자가 물질의 위험성을 인지할 수 있는 유일한 수단인 물질안전보건자료의 신뢰도와 유증기 분석으로 보다 합리적인 재발방지 대책을 제시하고자 하였다.

  • This paper deals with a feedback system for the estimation of geotechnical parameters in underground construction works. The Ordinary Least Square (OLS) Optimization Method is utilized and combined with Finite Element Program so that optimum values of ground properties can be estimated. The preperties that can be estimated are Young's and Brown's failure criteria is proposed.

  • Measuring method being applied for off-shore works is performed by using data logger or manual measuring instrument with wiring the cable connected from the sensor up to the position where measuring is allowed.(upper part of embankment or marine structure) Measuring management by using existing measuring method may be acceptable on the condition that the ground deformation volume(vertical, horizontal) is generally minimal and the site condition is good. But loss of measuring instrument, sensor cable failure or cutting is taken place frequently due to significant change of ground behavior caused by an external force change(embankment, excavation) under very soft ground condition(N value below 0-4). In case of the marine works, in particular, loss rate of measuring instrument is highly represented due to the factors of working barge anchoring, constructional interference and natural disaster. In order to solve these problems, measuring management was performed with employing underground wireless system at the immersed tunnel site. Measuring data was obtained freely under the marine environment by using underground wireless communication and cable cutting potential by ground behavior could be reduced. Measuring cost savings and its installation convenience were maximized by way of off-shore tower installation or cabling and by minimizing constructional interference of off-shore working barge. This case of measuring management was accomplished successfully.

TBM 터널 굴착 안정성에 영향을 미치는 위험요소 도출 및 중요도 결정 (Identification and importance analysis of hazards affecting the stability of TBM tunnelling works)

  • 도심지에서 지하철, 공동구 등의 지하시설물 건설을 위해 TBM 터널 공법 적용의 필요성이 증가하고 있다. 터널공사는 지반의 변동성 및 불확실성으로 인하여 건설 중 다양한 사고 발생 위험요소를 내재하고 있고, 사고발생 시 인명 피해 유발 및 복구에 큰 비용이 소요되므로 계획 및 설계 단계에서 공사의 위험요소를 도출하고 저감 대책을 수립하는 리스크 관리가 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 문헌 연구 및 전문가 의견 조사를 통하여 도심지 TBM 터널 공사 안정성에 영향을 미치는 총 31개의 위험요소를 도출하였고, 전문가 합의에 의한 의사결정 방법인 델파이 기법을 통해 위험요소별 중요도를 평가하였다. 최종적으로 내용타당도 기준을 만족하는 12개의 위험요소가 결정되었으며, TBM 터널공사 중 사고 예방을 위한 중점 관리요소로 활용 가능할 것이다.

한국의 폐광산 지하 채굴갱도 기초형상 분석 및 개선된 광산 지하공동 측정·분석 기술 연구 (A Study on the Basic Geometry Analysis of Abandoned Underground Mine Tunnels in Korea and Advanced Measuring-Analysis Technology for Underground Mine Cavities)

  • 광물자원 채굴을 위한 지하 채굴공동의 붕괴는 인간이 생활하고 있는 지역의 지반침하 피해를 유발할 수 있다. 지반침하를 방지하기 위하여 과거 광산지역에 대한 도면이나 사진 자료는 광해방지사업을 위하여 중요한 정보가 되고 있다. 광산지역의 조사, 광산 안정성 평가, 보강공사 등 일련의 과정은 통상적으로 과거 폐광산의 도면 및 사진정보에 근거하여 수행된다. 한국은 일제강점기 및 1960년대 광산 활황기에 수많은 광산이 무질서하게 개발되었다. 그러나 광산 관련 정보는 사용에 제한적인 상황이며, 시간이 지남에 따라 더 희소해질 것으로 본다. 한국광해관리공단은 현실적인 대안을 수립코자 한다. 본 연구에서는 과거 광산개발 굴진에 관련한 대한 기초정보를 통계적으로 검토하고, 진보된 폐광산 지하공동 측정기술에 대하여 연구하였다. 한국의 1,784개 폐광산에 대한 4473개 갱도(갱구) 조사자료를 수집하여 정리하였다. 분석결과, 한국의 소규모 갱도(갱구) 평균 수치는 높이 1.982 m이며, 폭 1.959 m로 분석되었다. 또한 형상계수(shape factor, S)의 평균값은 0.485로 분석되었다. 이러한 폐광산 수치 자료는 한국의 폐광산을 이해하고 연구하는 데 도움이 된다. 따라서, 광산 지하공동 측정기술의 발전은 미래의 광산 지반침하방지사업의 효율화에 기여할 것으로 본다.

터널 막장보강효과에 대한 연구 (A study of tunnel face reinforcement)

  • The practice of introducing and grouting reinforced fiber glass pipes or bar into the core to be excavated to maintain stable the tunnel face during excavation has been applied to many tunnels, where difficult geotechnical conditions are present, with good results in terms of safety and speed of works. This reinforcing technique, initially developed to be used jointly with the mechanical precut in clay, has been widely used with other geotechnical conditions as the only type of reinforcement or joined with other ground consolidation and/or reinforcement techniques (i.e. steel pipes or jet-grouting umbrella). At present same numerical researches have been carried out to find which are the real working conditions of the reinforcing elements but no final results have been obtained for the definition of the best design approaches. In this work the results of a three dimensional parametric numerical model is presented.

Geotechnical parameters from pressuremeter tests for MRT Blue Line extension in Bangkok

  • Construction of the extension project of the Bangkok MRT Blue Line underground railway was recently started in 2011. The construction of approximately 5 km long underground tunnel and 4 deep excavations of underground station are considered to be the most important geotechnical works. The pressuremeter was selected as a high-quality in situ testing of the soil to evaluate design parameters for the project. In addition, other field and laboratory tests such as vane shear and $CK_0U$ triaxial tests were included in the investigation programme. This paper aims to present the ground conditions encountered along the MRT Blue Line extension project as well as the site investigation and interpretation techniques with particular focus on the pressuremeter tests. The results are also compared with the pressuremeter investigation from the previous Bangkok MRT project.

  • Damage Cases of variously type are reported that the ground subsidence is caused by the underground cavities at structure and construction works in lime stone or abandoned zone. A underground cavities by direct for zone having an effect on structure have been filled with cement agents. But this measure is urgently needed in materials and work methods, because ground water pollution at water down fillings and flow out, ground disturb at high participle, damage of farms and fishery. The research confirm application of filling method and filling materials of environmentally friendly and economical by Hi-FA new materials have both liquidity and viscosity from case reinforcement in APT site, Gunsan.

  • In URD(Underground Residential Distribution) power cable, experiments of WVT(Water Vapor Transmission) test on the Base Resin accomplished to specimens which contained CB(Carbon Black), anti-oxidant to base resin and made by pressing to resin of pellet or lump form. a kind of specimens was HDPE(High Density Polyethylene), MDPE(Medium Density Polyethylene), LDPE(Low Density Polyethylene), LLDPE(Linear Low Density Polyethylene), PVC(Polyvinyl Chloride). as a results of WVT test, we saw that WVT ratio was HDPE < LLDPE < MDPE≒LDPE${\ll}$ PVC. WVT properties of PVC using for jacket showed properties 15-20 times more than MDPE or LLDPE. Therefore, to development of watertightness cable, our works present need of Changing in insulating materials.
