The surfaces of henequen fibers, which can be obtained from the leaves of agave plants, were treated with two different media, tap water and sodium hydroxide, that underwent both soaking and ultrasonic methods for the fiber surface treatment. Various biocomposites were fabricated with untreated and treated, chopped henequen fibers and polypropylene using a compression molding method. The result is discussed in terms of interfacial shear strength, flexural properties, dynamic mechanical properties, and fracture surface observations of the biocomposites. The soaking (static method) and ultrasonic (dynamic method) treatments with tap water and sodium hydroxide at different concentrations and treatment times significantly influenced the interfacial, flexural and dynamic mechanical properties of henequen/polypropylene biocomposites. The alkali treatment was more effective than the water treatment in improving the interfacial and mechanical properties of randomly oriented, chopped henequen/PP bio-composites. In addition, the application of the ultrasonic method to each treatment was relatively more effective in increasing the properties than the soaking method, depending on the treatment medium and condition. The greatest improvement in the properties studied was achieved by ultrasonic alkalization of natural fibers, which was in agreement with the other results of interfacial shear strength, flexural strength and modulus, storage modulus, and fracture surfaces.

We investigated properties of PZT composite for medical ultrasonic transducer array (briefly UTA) for medicine applications fabricated by micro pressing and dicing method. Dicing method was the fabrication process of conventional ultrasonic transducer array by dicing sintered PZT sheet. Micro pressing method was the proposed process using pressing PZT green sheet by PMMA micro mold from LIGA process. Microstructures, electrical and electro -mechanical properties of fabricated UTAs of two cases were analyzed. Thickness mode electro-mechanical coupling coefficient of two cases have same values of 51%. Sintered PZT Microstructures of them showed dense and uniform. Micro pressing method was very mass productive process because of using batch type LIGA process. From results, we found micro pressing method was more competitive than dicing method for UTA fabrication. For further study, uniformity of microstructures and electro-mechanical properties of large scale, and fabrication processes of Ni plating and PMMA molding should be improved and investigated.
The purpose of this paper is to study of the vehicle lamp manufacturing system composing ultrasonic waves connection process. Making lamp assembly plant, it was produced in the separate process as the injection molding, ultrasonic waves bonding, annealing in the constant temperature, lamp assembling and packing. But the improvement method producing the lamp was added with one-step process by one automation technique. As a result, welding with ultrasonic waves process, the method decreased the energy consumption and noise during ultrasonic waves welding. Therefore, this method used the mathematics modeling for checking validity, it selected the stability and suitable controller using transfer function of plant and bode chart. In this study, the $180^{\circ}$ revolution control system to turn injection part upside down was $M_{eq}\;lcos{\theta}(t)$ because of gravity influence. It effected to unstable condition a system. For solving this problem, it aimed the linearization and stabilization of system by elimination $M_{eq}\;lcos{\theta}(t)$ as applying Free-forward control technique.
A non-contact, in-situ and non-invasive technique for health monitoring of submerged fiber reinforced polymers (FRP) laminates has been developed using ultrasonic guided waves. A pair of mobile transducers at specific angles of incidence to the submerged FRP specimen was used to excite Lamb wave modes. Lamb wave modes were used for comprehensive inspection of various types of manufacturing defects like air gaps and missing epoxy, introduced during manufacturing of FRP using Vacuum Assisted Resin Infusion Molding (VARIM). Further service induced damages like notches and surface defects were also studied and evaluated using guided waves. Quantitative evaluation of transmitted ultrasonic signal in defect ridden FRPs $vis-{\grave{a}}-vis$ healthy signal has been used to relate the extent of damage in FRPs. The developed technique has the potential to develop into a quick, real time health monitoring tool for judging the service worthiness of FRPs.
In the present work, the effect of hygrothermal aging on the glass fibre and epoxy matrix interface has been investigated by destructive and non-destructive techniques. The glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) composite laminates were prepared using Vacuum Assisted Resin Infusion Molding (VARIM) technique and the specimens were immersed in simulated seawater, followed by quantitative measurement. Besides this, the tensile tests of GFRP specimens revealed a general decrease in the properties with increasing aging time. Also, exposed specimens were characterized by a non-destructive ultrasonic guided Lamb wave propagation technique. The experimental results demonstrate a correlation between the drop in ultrasonic voltage amplitude and fall in tensile strength with increasing time of immersion. Hence, the comparison of the transmitted guided wave signal of healthy vis-a-vis specimens subjected to different extents of hygrothermal aging facilitated performance evaluation of GFRP composites.
Tungsten heavy alloys (W-Ni-Fe) play an important role in various industries because of their excellent mechanical properties, such as the excellent hardness of tungsten, low thermal expansion, corrosion resistance of nickel, and ductility of iron. In tungsten heavy alloys, tungsten nanoparticles allow the relatively low-temperature molding of high-melting-point tungsten and can improve densification. In this study, to improve the densification of tungsten heavy alloy, nanoparticles are manufactured by ultrasonic milling of metal oxide. The physical properties of the metal oxide and the solvent viscosity are selected as the main parameters. When the density is low and the Mohs hardness is high, the particle size distribution is relatively high. When the density is high and the Mohs hardness is low, the particle size distribution is relatively low. Additionally, the average particle size tends to decrease with increasing viscosity. Metal oxides prepared by ultrasonic milling in high-viscosity solvent show an average particle size of less than 300 nm based on the dynamic light scattering and scanning electron microscopy analysis. The effects of the physical properties of the metal oxide and the solvent viscosity on the pulverization are analyzed experimentally.

Recently nano imprint lithography to fabricate photonic crystal on polymer is preferred because of its simplicity and short process time and ease of precise manufacturing. But, the technique requires the precise mold as an imprinting tool for good replication. These molds are made of the silicon, nickel and quartz. But this is not desirable due to complex fabrication process, high cost. So, we describe a simple, precise and low cost method of fabricating PDMS stamp to make the photonic crystals. In order to fabricate the PDMS mold, we make the original pattern with designed hole array by finding the optimal electron beam writing condition. And then, we have tried to fabricate PDMS mold by the replica molding with ultrasonic vibration and pressure system. We have used the cleaning process to solve the detaching problem on the interface. Using these methods, we acquired the PDMS mold for photonic crystals with characteristics of a good replication. And the accuracy of replication shows below 1% in 440nm at diameter and in 610nm at lattice constant by dimensional analysis by SEM and AFM.
Increased demand for parts with micro-pattern structure made of metals, ceramics, and composites in various fields such as medical ultrasonic sensors, CT collimators, and ultra-small actuator parts. Micro powder injection molding (PIM) is a technology for manufacturing micro size, high volume, complex, precision, net-shape components from either metal or ceramic powder. In the present study, a standard mold with a variable insert core capable of producing various micro patterns was investigated. An injection molding test was performed on a standard mold using a line type micro-pattern core having an aspect ratio of 2, a slenderness ratio of 70, a pattern size of $200{\mu}m$, and a pattern spacing of $150{\mu}m$. During the filling process, the deformation of the mold with large aspect ratio and slenderness ratio was analyzed by the experiment and the numerical simulation according to the position of the gate. We proposed a mold structure that minimizes mold deformation by gate modification and enables uniform pattern filling behavior.

The energy efficiency of a self-powered wireless sensing system for pressure monitoring in injection molding is analyzed using Bond graph models. The sensing system, located within the mold cavity, consists of an energy converter, an energy modulator, and a ultrasonic signal transmitter. Pressure variation in the mold cavity is extracted by the energy converter and transmitted through the mold steel to a signal receiver located outside of the mold, in the form of ultrasound pulse trains. Through Bond graph models, the energy efficiency of the sensing system is characterized as a function of the configuration of a piezoceramic stack within the energy converter, the pulsing cycle of the energy modulator, and the thicknesses of the various layers that make up the ultrasonic signal transmitter. The obtained energy models are subsequently utilized to identify the minimum level of signal intensity required to ensure successful detection of the ultrasound pulse trains by the signal receiver. The Bond graph models established have shown to be useful in optimizing the design of the various constituent components within the sensing system to achieve high energy conversion efficiency under a compact size, which are critical to successful embedment within the mold structure.

A cabinet is an outer frame of a TV, which is usually made of poly-carbonate. Cabinets are apt to be deformed because of applied heat during injection molding process and UV joining process. Severely deformed cabinets cause a falling-off in quality of the final product. Therefore cabinets should be inspected and only the good ones should be delivered to the following process. We implemented an experimental system for shape recognition of a cabinet and proposed several indices to characterize the shape of a cabinet. We also proposed algorithms to eliminate the possible bias present in measured data and to check the goodness of a cabinet. Experimental results show the feasibility of the propose algorithms.
