A Study on Performance Improvement of CMMB Receiver to Reduce an Adjacent Channel Interference (인접 채널 간섭 제거를 통한 CMMB 수신기의 성능 향상에 관한 연구)

  • Currently, CMMB(China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting) and the conventional analog TV broadcasting have transmitted by using UHF(Ultra High Frequency : 474MHz~754MHz) band. Normally, the transmission power of the digital TV broadcasting is lower than the conventional analog TV broadcasting to protect the reception quality of the conventional analog TV broadcasting. The reception sensitivity of CMMB receiver has severely deteriorated due to adjacent the conventional analog TV broadcasting signals which called ACI (Adjacent Channel Interference). To improve the reception sensitivity of a CMMB receiver on ACI environment, this paper proposed a simple method which is tuning a cut off frequency of LPF (Low Pass Filter). From the experiment, the reception sensitivity of CMMB receiver was improved as 11.3dB.

  • [ $Bi_2Sr_2Ca_{n-1}Cu_nO_x$ ](n=0, 1, 2) thin films have been fabricated by co-deposition at an ultra-low growth rate using ion beam sputtering(IBS) method. Bi 2212 phase appeared in the temperature range of 750 and $795^{\circ}C$ and single phase of Bi 2201 existed in the lower region than $785^{\circ}C$. Whereas, $PO_3$ dependance on structural formation was scarcely observed regardless of the pressure variation. And high quality of c-axis oriented Bi 2212 thin film with $T_c$(onset) of about % K and $T_c$(zero) of about 45 K is obtained. Only a small amount of CuO in some films was observed as impurity, and no impurity phase such as $ CaCuO_2$ was observed in all of the obtained films.

  • World's leading countries are developing next generation digital broadcasting system specifications to support UHDTV (ultra-high definition television) contents and other various services. In order to maximize the transmission capacity by using the bandwidth efficiently, most broadcasting systems adopt MIMO-OFDM. In distributed-MIMO systems, multiple transmit antennas are spatially separated and therefore result in multiple timing offsets. To overcome this problem, this paper proposes a technique using a null symbol to detect each individual signal from distributed transmit antennas. By inserting null symbols before preambles, the receiver can distinguish the signals between each transmit antennas and perform frame synchronization. When the reception time difference is shorter than 500 samples, the proposed method outperforms the conventional method.

  • MB-OFDM (Multiband-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) UWB (ultra wide band) system uses DCM (dual carrier modulation) scheme to achieve high-data rate transmission. The basic idea of DCM is that to transmit the 4 bits more reliably two 16-QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) symbols are used and the two 16-QAM sysmbols are allocated to each subcarrier of OFDM with maximum-distance. In the case of using the DCM, if one 16-QAM symbol is broken by deep fadding channel, a receiver can detect the transmitted signal by using another 16-QAM symbol. In the conventional ML(maximum likelihood) decision scheme, since the receiver does not use the CSI (channel state information), loss in diversity can not be reduced. In this paper, we propose improved soft-decision scheme with CSI for higher performance of MB-OFDM UWB systemn.

  • In the extra and ultra high voltage system, the coupling capacitor voltage transformer (CCVT) measures the primary voltage with a small scale of voltage transformer (VT). However, the CCVT generates errors caused by the hysteresis characteristics of iron core and by the ferroresonance, inevitably. This paper proposes a compensation algorithm for the secondary voltage of a CCVT considering the hysteresis characteristics of an iron core. The proposed algorithm calculates the seconda교 current of a VT by summing the current flowing the ferroresonance circuit and the burden current; it estimates the secondary voltage of a VT; then the core flux is calculated by integrating of the secondary voltage of a VT, then estimates the exciting current using ${\lambda}-i$ characteristic of the core. The method calculates a primary voltage of a VT considering the estimated primary current. Finally, the correct voltage is estimated by compensating the voltage across the inductor and capacitor. The performance of the proposed algorithm was tested in a 345kV transmission system. The test results show that the proposed method can improve the accuracy of the seconda교 voltage of a CCVT.

A weld-distortion analysis method of the shell structures using ultra structural FE model (초대형 구조모델을 활용한 쉘구조물의 용접변형 해석)

  • A very large shell-structure built in shipyards like ship hulls or offshore structures are joined by welding through full process. As the welding contains a high thermal cycle at a local area, the welded structures should be distorted unavoidably. Because a distorted ship block should be revised to the designed value before the next stage, the ability to predict and to control the weld distortion is an accuracy level of the yard itself. Despite the ship block size, several present thermal distortion methodologies can deal those sizes, but it is a different story to deal full ship size model. Even a fully constructed ship hull not remaining any welding can have an accuracy issue like outfitting installation problems. Any present thermal distortion methodology cannot accept this size for its recommended element size and the number. The ordinary welding breadth at erection stage is about 20~40 mm. It can hardly be a good choice to make finite element model of these sizes considering human effort and computational environment. The finite element model for structure analysis of a ship hull is prepared at front-end engineering design stage which is the first process of the project. The element size of the model is as fine as the longitudinal space, and it is not proper to obtain a weld distortion at the erection stage. In this study, a methodology is suggested that a weldment can be shrunk at original place instead of using structural finite element model. We cut the original shell elements at erection weld-line and put truss elements between the edges of cut elements for weld shrinkage. Additional truss elements are used to facsimile transverse weld shrinkage which cannot be from the weld-line truss element shrink. They attach to weld-line truss element like twigs from barks. The capacity of developed elements is verified through an accuracy check of erection process of a container vessel at the apt. hull. It can be a useful tool for verifying a centering accuracy after renew and for block-separating planning considering accuracy.

Improvement of extinction ratio of polarization independent very short vertical directional couplers with the double-sided deep-ridge waveguide structure (편광에 관계없이 매우 짧은 결합길이를 가지는 Double-Sided Deep-Ridge 도파관 구조 수직 방향성 결합기의 소멸비 향상)

  • We show that the extinction ratio is improved using slight asymmetry in two core refractive indices of polarization independent very short vertical directional couplers with the double-sided deep-ridge (DSDR) waveguide structure. The optimum asymmetry with the maximum extinction ratio and the tolerance of the refractive index of core with the extinction ratio larger 1ha]1 30 ㏈ increase as the thickness of inner cladding layer and the two cores decrease due to the increase of the coupling strength between the two cores. Also, the device length and the tolerance of the device length with the extinction ratio larger than 30 ㏈ decrease as the thickness of the inner cladding layer and the two cores decrease due to the increase of the coupling strength between the two cores. We show that polarization independent vertical directional couplers with the DSDR waveguide structure with the device length less than 100 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and the extinction ratio larger than 30 ㏈ could be implemented.

Physicochemical Effect on Permeate Flux in a Hybrid Ozone-Ceramic Ultrafiltration Membrane Treating Natural Organic Matter (자연유기물을 처리하는 혼합 오존-세라믹 한외여과 시스템에서 물리화학적 특성이 투과플럭스에 미치는 영향)

  • Effects of operational conditions and solution chemistry on permeate flux in a hybrid ozone-ceramic ultra-filtration (UF) membrane system treating natural organic matter (NOM) were investigated. Results showed that the extent of permeate flux decline was higher at higher cross-flow velocity and ozone dosage, but it was higher at lower transmembrane pressure (TMP). The mechanism of fouling mitigation was found to be more dependent upon reaction between ozone and natural organic matter at/near catalytic membrane surface than scouring effect due to ozone gas bubbles. Addition of calcium into model NOM solution at high pH led to significant decline in permeate flux while the calcium effect on permeate flux decline was less pronounced at lower pH. After permeate flux decline during the early stage of filtration, the flux started recovering and approached fully to the initial value of it due to degradation of NOM by catalytic ozonation at ceramic membrane surface in the hybrid ozone-ceramic membrane system.

  • This paper presents a 14-band LO generator architecture for MB-OFDM UWB systems using 3.1 GHz~10.6 GHz frequency band. The proposed LO generator architecture has been consisted of only one PLL and the fewest nonlinear components to generate 14 LO signals with high purity while consuming low dc power consumption. In addition, major spurious generated from the LO generator have been located in the out of UWB band. The proposed LO generator has been implemented in a $0.13-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology and consumes a dc power consumption of 93~103 mW from a 1.5 V supply. The simulation results show an in-band spurious suppression ratio of more than 41 dBc and a band-switching time of below 3 nsec.

  • Considerably increasing interest in using the theranostic isotopes/ isotope pairs of radiometals like $^{44/47}Sc$ and $^{64/67}Cu$ for diagnosis and/or therapeutic applications in the nuclear medicine procedures necessitates its reliable production and supply. Separation and purification of no-carrier-added (NCA) isotopes from macro quantitates of the irradiated target matrix along with other impurities is a cardinal procedure amongst several other steps involved in its production. Multitudinous methods including but not limited to liquid-liquid (solvent) extraction, extraction chromatography (EXC), ion exchange, electrodeposition and sublimation are routinely applied either solitarily or in combination for the separation and purification of radioisotopes depending on their production routes, radioisotope of interest and impurities involved. However, application of EXC though has shown promises towards the numerous separation techniques have not received much attention as far as its application prospects in the field of nuclear medicine are concerned. Advances in the recent past for application of the EXC resins in separation and purification of the several medically important radioisotopes at ultra-high purity have shown promising behavior with respect to their operation simplicity, acidic and radiolytic stability, separation efficiencies and speedy procedures with the enhanced and excellent extraction abilities. In this mini review we will be talking about the recent developments in the application and the use of EXC techniques for the separation and purification of $^{44/47}Sc$ and $^{64/67}Cu$ for medical applications. Furthermore, we will also discuss the scientific and practical aspects of EXC in the view of separation of the NCA trace amount of radionuclides.
