  • ACF and $WO_3$ modified $TiO_2$ composites (ACF/$WO_3$/$TiO_2$) were prepared using a sol-gel method. The composites were characterized by Brunauer.Emmett.Teller (BET) surface area measurements, X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis and scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis. A methyl orange (MO) solution under visible light irradiation was used to determine the photocatalytic activity. The degradation of the MO was determined using UV/Vis spectrophotometry. An increase in photocatalytic activity was observed and attributed to an increase of the photo-absorption effect by the $WO_3$ and the cooperative effect of the ACF.

  • Transition metal ions($Ni^{2+}$, $Cr^{3+}$ and $V^{5+}$) doped $TiO_2$ nanostructured powders were synthesized by mechanical alloying(MA) to shift the adsorption threshold into the visible light region. The synthesized powders were characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM and BET for structural analysis, UV-Vis and photoluminescence spectrum for the optical study. Also, photocatalytic abilities were evaluated by decomposition of 4-chlorophenol(4CP) under ultraviolet and visible light irradiations. Optical studies showed that the absorption wavelength of transition metal ions doped $TiO_2$ powders moved to visible light range, which was believed to be induced by the energy level change due to the doping. Among the prepared $TiO_2$ powders, $NiO^{2+}$ doped $TiO_2$ powders, showed excellent photooxidative ability in 4CP decomposition.

  • A series of carbon nanotube, $C_{60}$, and graphene modified $TiO_2$ nanocomposites were prepared by hydrothermal method. X-ray diffraction, $N_2$ adsorption, UV-Vis spectroscopy, photoluminescence, and Electrochemical impedance spectra were used to characterize the prepared composite materials The results reveal that incorporating $TiO_2$ with carbon materials can extend the adsorption edge of all the $TiO_2$-carbon nanocomposites to the visible light region. The photocatalytic activities were tested in the degradation of 2,4,6-trichlorophenol (TCP) under visible light. No obvious difference in essence was observed in structural and optical properties among three series of carbon modified $TiO_2$ nanocomposites. Three series of carbon materials modified $TiO_2$ composites follow the analogous tentative reaction mechanism for TCP degradation. GR modified $TiO_2$ nanocomposite exhibits the strongest interaction and the most effective interfacial charge transfer among three carbon materials, thus shows the highest electron-hole separation rate, leading to the highest photocatalytic activity and stability.

  • In Projection Stereolithography Apparatus (PSLA), Digital Micromirror Device (DMD) and Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) are used as a beam pattern generator. The DMD shows high resolution, but it is mostly applied in micro stereolithography due to high cost and fabricable area. In LCD, the size of pattern beam is freely controlled due to various panel sizes. The LCD, however, has some limitations such as short life time by the high power light source, non-uniform light intensity of pattern beam and low transmittance of UV-light. To solve these problems in LCD-based PSLA, a Scanbeam-SLA with LCD of 19 inches and visible LED-array is developed. In this system, the light module works like a scanner for uniform illumination. The system configuration, working principle and fabrication examples are addressed in this study.

  • Activity carbon (AC), Cu and $Cu_2O$ modified $TiO_2$ composites (Cu/$Cu_2O$-AC/$TiO_2$) were prepared using a sol-gel method. The characteristics of the composites were evaluated using Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area measurements, X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis and scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis. A methyl orange (MO) solution under visible light irradiation was used to determine the photocatalytic activity. The degradation of MO was determined using UV/Vis spectrophotometry. $Cu_2O$, Cu and the cooperative effect of the AC increased the photo-absorption effect, thus increasing in photocatalytic activity.

  • A modified sol-gel method and $N_2$-plasma treatment were used to prepare bulk and surface doped N-$TiO_2$, respectively. XRD, TEM, UV-vis spectroscopy, $N_2$ adsorption, Elemental Analyzer, Photoluminescence, and XP spectra were used to characterize the prepared $TiO_2$ samples. The N doping did not change the phase composition and particle sizes of $TiO_2$ samples, but increased the visible light absorption. The photocatalytic activities were tested in the degradation of an aqueous solution of a reactive dyestuff, methylene blue, under visible light. The photocatalytic activity of surface doped N-$TiO_2$ prepared by $N_2$-plasma was much higher than that of bulk doped N-$TiO_2$ prepared by sol-gel method. The possible mechanism for the photocatalysis was proposed.

  • The composite photocatalyst, N-$TiO_2$ loaded with $Ni_2O_3$, was prepared by $N_2$ plasma treatment. X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence, $N_2$ adsorption, UV-vis spectroscopy, photoluminescence, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy were used to characterize the prepared $TiO_2$ samples. The results indicated that the band gap energy was decreased obviously by nitrogen doping, whereas loading of $Ni_2O_3$ did not influence the band gap and visible light absorption. The photocatalytic activities were tested in the degradation of 2,4,6-trichlorophenol (TCP) under visible light. The photocatalytic activity and stability of composite photocatalyst were much higher than that of catalyst modified with nitrogen or $Ni_2O_3$ alone. The synergistic effect of doping nitrogen and $Ni_2O_3$ over $TiO_2$ was investigated.

  • In this study, N doped $TiO_2$ (TiO-N) thin film was prepared by DC magnetron sputtering method to show the photocatalytic activity in a visible range. Various gases (Ar, $O_2\;and\;N_2$) were used and Ti target was impressed by 1.2 kW -5.8 kW power range. The hysteresis of TiO-N thin film as a function of discharge voltage wasn't observed in 1.2 and 2.9kW of applied power. Cross sections and surfaces of thin films by FE-SEM were tiny and dense particle sizes of both films with normal cylindrical structures. XRD pattern of $TiO_2$ and TiO-N thin films was appeared by only anatase peak. Red shift in UV-Vis adsorption spectra was investigated TiO-N thin film. Photoactivity was evaluated by removal rate measurement of suncion yellow among reactive dyes. The photodegradation rate of $TiO_2$ thin film on visible radiation was shown little efficiency but TiO-N was about 18%.

  • ZnO nanoparticles in the size range from 5 to 15 nm were prepared by zinc-lithium-acetate system. The morphologies and structures of ZnO were characterized by TEM, XRD and FT-IR spectra. UV-visible results shows that the absorption of ZnO nanoparticles is blue shifted with decrease in particles size. Furthermore, photoluminescence spectra of the ZnO nanoparticles were also investigated. The ZnO nanoparticles have strong visible-emission intensity and their intensities depend upon size of ZnO nanoparticles.
