  • This study investigated the agents for self-healing system that could be developed to prevent UST(underground storage tank) from leaking. The system involves short range wireless communication to locate a leakage. Four commercially available silicons are arbitrarily chosen to evaluate suitability as a self-healing agent through a series of laboratory experiments. finally the experiments are simulated using computational Fluid Dynamic Program.

  • This is a case study on the new model of Graduate School recently established by 22 government-sponsored research institutes, focused on the University of Science and Technology(UST). It first deals with the necessity of authorized education system in government-sponsored research institutes not only for nourishing highly caliber manpower but also for activating research institutes. And then it analyzes the general status of the UST and Japanese graduate school model and its comparison. Finally it points out some suggestions for future development of the UST.

  • 사물 인터넷, 클라우드 컴퓨팅, 인공지능, 빅데이터 등 첨단 정보통신기술을 활용하여 모든 사물들의 지능화와 초연결을 지향하는 것을 나타내는 4차 산업혁명에 대한 관심은 나날이 증가하고 있다. 4차 산업혁명과 관련된 다양한 분야의 기술들 중에서 인공지능을 활용한 자율주행자동차 기술과 관련하여 논의를 진행하고자 한다. 여러 국가에서는 자율주행자동차 시장선점을 위해 관련 기술의 발달에 몰두하고 있다. 그러나 자율주행자동차의 상용화를 위해서는 기술의 발달뿐만 아니라 관련 법제도의 정비가 더욱 필수적인 요소라고 본다. 자율주행자동차가 안전성을 보장할 수 있도록 시험운행에 대한 규제를 완화시켜야 할 것이며, 향후 상용화가 될 경우 야기될 수 있는 민사적 손해배상문제와 형사책임의 문제, 과실책임의 문제, 사이버 보안문제 등을 대비할 수 있는 법제도 마련을 촉구하고자 한다. 타국가와의 자율주행자동차 법제도 비교분석을 통해 우리나라의 도로교통법과 기존 법 제정상태를 고려하여 법안 마련에 방향성을 설정하는 데에 목표를 두고 있다.

  • 조각문이란 문장 성분을 온전히 갖추지 못한 문장으로 일반적인 문장과 달리 종결 어미로 문장을 끝맺지 못하는 문장을 말한다. 실험실 환경에서와 달리 실제 음성 인식 환경에서는 이러한 조각문이 비교적 빈번히 나타나므로 연속 음성 인식 시스템의 성능 향상을 위해서는 이러한 조각문에 대한 고려가 필수적이다. 본 연구에서는 음성 인식 문법 기술에 있어서 조각문을 반영한 경우와 그렇지 않은 경우의 커버리지를 비교해 봄으로써 조각문에 대한 고려가 음성 인식 성능 향상에 기여할 수 있음을 알아 보았다.

  • This paper describes the design and implementation of the database which is used in Personal Life Log Media system. The database contains information about media that capture personal experiences and enables the user to retrieve the media in a user friendly ways. The implementation of the database design is done by managing video data, which captures user's personal experiences, with its spatial and temporal information. The database enables the user to retrieve the video by mentioning where and/or when the video has been taken.

  • A reliable assessment and analysis of the condition of high pressure and temperature steam pipelines requires defining stress state, which will take into consideration not just the impact of internal pressure and temperature but all applied loads. For that, usage of modeling and numerical methods for calculation and analysis of stress state is essential. The main aim of piping stress analysis is to check the design of piping layout, which will allow simple, efficient and economical piping supports and provide flexibility to the piping system for loads and stresses. The piping stress analysis is carried out using CAESER II software. By using this software we can evaluate stresses, stress ratios, flange condition, support loads, element forces and displacements at each node and points. In this paper, only the maximum and minimum displacement results are tabulated, which is also shown in detail by an example of main steam pipelines of UST Main Engine System [1].

  • We suggest a facile transmission electron microscopy (TEM) specimen preparation method for the direct (polymer-free) transfer of layer-area graphene from Cu substrates to a TEM grid. The standard (polymer-based) method and direct transfer method were by TEM, high-resolution TEM, and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The folds and crystalline particles were formed in a graphene specimen by the standard method, while the graphene specimen by the direct method with a new etchant solution exhibited clean and full coverage of the graphene surface, which reduced several wet chemical steps and accompanying mechanical stresses and avoided formation of the oxide metal.

  • This paper describes a method to classify simple circular artificial markers on surfaces of a box on the back of hand to detect the pose of user's hand for VR/AR applications by using a Leap Motion camera and two IMU sensors. One IMU sensor is located in the box and the other IMU sensor is fixed with the camera. Multi-layer Perceptron (MLP) algorithm is adopted to classify artificial markers on each surface tracked by the camera using IMU sensor data. It is experimented successfully in real-time, 70Hz, under PC environments.

Optical Performance Degradation Effects by Fabrication Errors of Circular-type Computer Generated Holograms

  • A null test method which relies on a computer generated hologram (CGH) is widely used to measure a large aspheric surface. For precise measurements of the surface shape of an aspheric optics, the CGH must precisely generate a wavefront that can fit on the ideal surface shape of the aspheric optics. If fabrication errors arise in the CGH, an unwanted wavefront will be generated and the measuring result will lack trustworthiness. Thus far, there has been limited research on wavefronts generated by CGH using only linear-type binary grating models. In this study, a theoretical error model of a circular-type zone plate, the most commonly used types for CGH patterns, is suggested. The proposed error model is checked by simulations and experiments.

Derivation of Work to be Automated in Reinforced Concrete Construction (철근 콘크리트 공사의 자동화 대상작업 도출)

  • For the successful introduction of the construction automation system, it is necessary to define the consideration factors and target tasks for the necessity of automating the conventional methods. In this study, the factors for automation were derived through brainstorming and questionnaires, and calculated the relative importance through the pairwise comparison using the AHP analysis method. In addition, the detailed type of concrete work was classified into 32 detailed works, and the automation score for each work was calculated by investigating the factors considering the necessity of automation. As a result of the automation score analysis, it was concluded that the need for automation of concrete placing work was the highest. Based on this study, we will consider the strategy of a concrete construction automation system.
