A Study on the Usability of Real-Time Remote Lecture Platform for Effective Learning Experience -Focused on ZOOM UI design layout- (효과적인 학습경험을 위한 실시간 원격강의 플랫폼 사용성 연구 -ZOOM UI디자인 레이아웃을 중심으로-)

  • In the digital era, Korean universities are using real-time remote lecture platforms as a tool for learning. However, it is confusing due to low usage experience problems, and usability studies are needed. The purpose of this study is to measure, analyze, and propose gaze tracking and learning experiences according to the UI design layout of ZOOM. A total of 30 subjects were selected to conduct eye tracking and survey when learning. The experiment showed that grid layouts have a higher emotional realism and learning satisfaction than other layouts. Furthermore, it turns out that participants focused the most attention on grid layouts. Therefore, for high learning experience, grid layouts and layouts that visually highlight participants and induce communication are needed.

  • A smart phone has an error if we design games on it because smart phone should be able to have input and output simultaneously through the screen. Using the existing layout of the game as a base for research, the layout was divided to four categories that are information area, informational appearance area, operation area and inutility area. Given the research results, we developed an authoring tool to design games for smart phones. Moreover, we applied the authoring tool to develop games and effectively reduce the developing time.

  • This study analyzes the lobby UI of the baseball manager game based on the mobile platform and proposes an optimized lobby UI. The UI layout-based detailed icons and button interactions in the four game lobbies are compared and analyzed by comparing and analyzing the common points and differences to finally calculate the optimized UI composition. Furthermore, based on the analysis, we intend to propose a lobby UI optimized for user-centered design.

  • The rapid development of mobile technology and the improvement of network speed are providing convenience to various services, and mobile shopping malls are no exception. Although efforts are being made to promote sales by combining various technologies such as customized recommendations using big data and specialized personalization services based on artificial intelligence, most mobile shopping malls have the same detailed page information structure including detailed product information. In this context, in this study, it was determined that the content layout of the product detail page and the mobile product detail page layout tailored to the consumer's preference should be presented according to the consumer's preference. Based on Higgins' Regulatory Focus Theory, a study of consumer propensity revealed that the content layout arrangement on a product detail page, when presented in an F-shape, informs the consumer that it is organized. If presented in a Z-shape, vivid information was recognized, and it was examined whether the product attitude and purchase intention were affected. As a result, when the content layout composition was presented as a layout arrangement in the form of a sense of unity and organization, prevention-focused consumers were positively affected by product attitudes and purchase intentions, and promotion-oriented consumers felt freedom. When presented in an arrangement, it was confirmed that the product attitude and purchase intention were affected.

  • The web-based project is seriously not efficient area at software engineering. In order to develop a web-based system, UI(User Interface) designers usually first design display layout and then business logic developers bring to complete the coding of the display layout source. In the case of maintenance, it goes through the same process, This kinds of web-based software development method were proposed by the various methods same as the tag library of JSP, But there are many problems to apply them and they are low productive comparing to the CIS based software development method, WFS(Neb Form System), which is suggested on this thesis, separates UI design from business logic on a web project and offers the better environment to develop web based software, Eventually WFS will improve the productivity to develop web based software.

A Study on the Kiosk UI Reflecting the Elderly's Characteristics (고령자의 특성을 반영한 패스트푸드점 키오스크 UI 연구)

  • This study was conducted to improve the use experience of elderly people in fast food kiosks which are actively utilizing 'un-tact' technology. First, the Kiosk design analysis criteria were discussed through literature research. Then, the UI screens of McDonald's, Lotteria and Burger King, which are currently serving kiosks in Korea, were divided into colors, layouts and buttons. Next, the usability evaluation and survey of the elderly revealed problems with the interface design of the current kiosk. As a result, older people do not recognize buttons without an outline as buttons, and errors occur when layout changes or when viewing is complicated. In addition, horizontal navigation and vertical layout menus were error-free, and the design of buttons was error-free with the same color for the same function. Research shows that the Kiosk UI design is preferred by older people. First, buttons in the form of outline or solid are recommended. Second, vertical binding of buttons combined with images and text is recommended. Third, the screen layout should be consistent with the direction of view flow and manipulation, and should avoid increasing the number of menus and information. Fourth, page navigation is recommended in horizontal form and menu arrangement is vertical form. Finally, buttons that perform the same function are efficient for buttons to use the same color, and for different functions, applying a complementary colors can reduce confusion.

(<고연령층을 위한 통합 리모컨 레이아웃에 관한 연구>)

  • 본 연구에서는 사용성 테스트와 사용자 설문조사 단계를 거쳐 고연령계층 사용자를 고려한 통합 리모컨 버튼 레이아웃을 도출하여 고연령층의 사용편의성이 반영된 리모컨의 사용성을 향상시키고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 일차적으로 신체, 인지심리적인 고연령층의 인간요소(human factor)들을 추출한 다음, 고연령계층 중 연령대별 남녀 사용자를 모집하여 현재 사용되는 기존의 리모컨으로 사용자에게 과제를 부과하여 사용성 테스트와 설문조사를 실시하였다. 사용성 테스트 결과를 중심으로, 통합 리모컨 버튼 레이아웃 디자인 시 반영되어야 할 필수 기능 버튼의 도출과, 버튼 배열의 최적화된 모델을 제시 할 수 있었다. 또한 이러한 과정을 통해 UI 디자인 시 지켜져야 할 세가지 요소인, 연관있는 기능의 동일요소 부여로 동작의 상호 의사소통을 고려해야한다는 것(유사성)과 유사기능간 근접배치로 사용자가 동작할 수 있는 버튼을 쉽게 이해하도록 해 주어야 한다는 것(근접성), 그리고 예상되는 연속 동작의 기능을 동선을 고려해서 배치해야 한다는 것(연속성)을 확인하였다. 마지막으로, 한 가지 기준에 의한 일률적인 버튼 배열보다 사용자의 요구사항과 인지적 한계를 반영한 그룹핑을 고려한 버튼 배열이 사용성을 높이는 중요한 요인이라는 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • TV의 형식이 아날로그에서 디지털로 바뀌면서 TV 상에서 실질적인 정보교류가 가능하게 되었다. 이에 따라 TV에서의 사용자 인터페이스(UI) 요소가 증가하였고 사용자는 더욱 복잡하고 어려운 환경에서 기기를 조작해야 하는 불편함을 낳게 되었다. 그 결과 실제로 제품의 품질문제가 증가하여 품질비용이 늘어나는 문제를 야기시키고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 자사의 품질관리 정보와 타사 및 자사 DTV의 리모컨 및 OSD에 대한 UI 리서치를 통하여 정립할 필요성이 있는 사용성 이슈(usability issues)를 도출하고 그에 따라 각 사용성 이슈에 대한 각 사 제품간 사용성 비교평가를 수행하여 나온 결과를 바탕으로 최적화된 DTV 리모컨 레이아웃 및 DTV 리모컨 UI Design Guideline 그리고 소프트웨어 개발을 위한 정보구조와 Workflow 표준안을 제작하였으며, 연구결과의 반영은 DTV 제품의 전반적인 사용성 향상 및 품질문제 저감에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

A Development of Smart Phone Application Layout Education Program for Gifted Children of Information (초등정보영재를 위한 스마트폰 애플리케이션 레이아웃 교육 프로그램 개발)

  • In recent years many people are changing their mobile phones from feature phones to smart phones because huge number of useful smart phone applications are released onto the market everyday. Development of smart phone applications could be very helpful educational contents for technologically gifted children who has lots of curiosity and creativity. For this reason this paper deals with development of smart phone application UI(User Interface) layout education programs for the technologically gifted children. These education programs which can operating under Android-based smartphone, have been developed by using JAVA and Eclipse. Survey from the technologically gifted children education experts has been analyzed by Delphi method to figure out effectiveness of the developed education programs.

Design and Implementation of the Performance Driven UI-Mashup Architecture (성능 주도의 UI-Mashup 아키텍처의 설계 및 구현)

  • UI-Mashup is widely used as a service method to add value, which is composed of distributed various contents on the internet and has turned out to be one of the latest trends in web application program development. Previous UI-Mashup-related studies have focused primarily on the dynamic service composition and have not been able to adapt to a rapidly changing Web Standard, thusthe end users conclude that UI-Mashups are slow, incompatible and poor security services. In this study, We propose an architecture for the performance improvements of UI-Mashup.In order to provide fast services and security enhancements, the proposed architecture collects UI fragments on the server in parallel, and sends layouts and contents of Mashups UI to the client through a special delivery channel supporting fast reaction and response time. In this study, the implementation and performance tests were proceeded to verify the proposed architecture experimentally. As a result of the performance testing, the proposed architecture has two to three times faster response time and more than four times throughput compared to the previous UI-Mashup technology.
