  • Recently, it is concentrated on productivity improvement in high speed operation by converting industries. Register error is becoming the one of the most issued problem. Moreover register control is the key to product flexible displays through roll-to-roll systems. This paper presents a derivation of register error modeling. And the dynamics of register error is simulated under various conditions. Register error is affected by both roll velocity and tension between the front and back span. And dynamics of register error is to be an interaction in succeeding spans.

와이블 분포와 정시중단 하에서의 MLE와 LSE의 정확도 비교 (A Comparison of Estimation Methods for Weibull Distribution and Type I Censoring)

  • In this paper, two estimation methods(least square estimation and maximum likelihood estimation) were compared for Weibull distribution and Type I censoring. Data obtained by Monte Carlo simulation were analyzed using two estimation methods and analysis results were compared by MSE(Mean Squared Error). Comparison results show that maximum likelihood estimator is better for censored data and complete data with more than 30 samples and least square estimator is better for small size complete data(less than and equal to 20 samples).

Bayesian and maximum likelihood estimation of entropy of the inverse Weibull distribution under generalized type I progressive hybrid censoring

  • Entropy is an important term in statistical mechanics that was originally defined in the second law of thermodynamics. In this paper, we consider the maximum likelihood estimation (MLE), maximum product spacings estimation (MPSE) and Bayesian estimation of the entropy of an inverse Weibull distribution (InW) under a generalized type I progressive hybrid censoring scheme (GePH). The MLE and MPSE of the entropy cannot be obtained in closed form; therefore, we propose using the Newton-Raphson algorithm to solve it. Further, the Bayesian estimators for the entropy of InW based on squared error loss function (SqL), precautionary loss function (PrL), general entropy loss function (GeL) and linex loss function (LiL) are derived. In addition, we derive the Lindley's approximate method (LiA) of the Bayesian estimates. Monte Carlo simulations are conducted to compare the results among MLE, MPSE, and Bayesian estimators. A real data set based on the GePH is also analyzed for illustrative purposes.

  • The application of advanced Main Control Room(MCR) is accompanied with lots of changes and different forms and features through the virtue of new digital technologies. The characteristics of these digital technologies and devices give many opportunities to the interface management, and can be integrated into a compact single workstation in advanced MCR so that workers can operate the plant with minimum physical burden under any operation conditions. However, these devices may introduce new types of human errors and thus a means to evaluate and prevent such errors is needed, especially those related to characteristics of digital devices. This paper reviewed the new type of human error hazards of tasks based on digital devices and surveyed researches on physiological assessment related to human error. An experiment was performed to verify human error hazards by physiological responses such as EEG which was measured to evaluate the cognitive workload of operators. And also, the performances of four tasks which are representative in human error hazard tasks based on digital devices were compared. Response time, ${\beta}$ power spectrum rate of each task by EEG, and mental workload by NASA-TLX were evaluated. In the results of the experiment, the rate of the ${\beta}$ power was increased in the task 1 and task 4 which are searching and navigating task and memory task of hierarchical information, respectively. In case of the mental workload, in most of evaluation items, task 1 and 4 were highly rated comparatively. In this paper, human error hazards might be identified by highly cognitive workload. Conclusively, it was concluded that the predictive method which is utilized in this paper and an experimental verification can be used to ensure the safety when applying the digital devices in Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs).

  • The measurement of welding temperature of connector is usually performed with an infra red temperature gauge. However, the factors, which influence the temperature measurement, are rarely known. This research used the welding temperature measurement of the connector as an example, applying the experimental design, in two-phase experiments, to search the affecting factors. In phase-I experiment, we used a resolution III, seven-factor fractional factorial design with two levels for each factor. The result showed that none of the factor was significant in affecting the welding temperature when the type I error ${\alpha}$ was 0.05. Next, we did the phase-II factorial experiment with three factors and each factor had three levels. The experiment showed the experimental time was significant in affecting the temperature measurement when the type I error ${\alpha}$ was 0.05. Further Duncan's multiple range tests on the second experimental data showed that the later the experimental time, the weaker the light intensity could have on the temperature measurement and the average of the highest temperatures was lower. Moreover, the later the experimental time, the smaller was the variance of the temperature measurement and the difference between the averages of the highest and the lowest temperatures was also lower.

  • The study investigates the various Acceptance Control Charts (ACCs) based on the factors that include process independence, data weighting scheme, subgrouping, and use of control charts. USL - LSL > $6{\sigma}$ that used in the good condition processes in the ACCs are designed by considering user's perspective, producer's perspective and both perspectives. ACCs developed from the research is efficiently applied by using the simple control limit unified with APL (Acceptable Process Level), RLP (Rejectable Process Level), Type I Error $\alpha$, and Type II Error $\beta$. Sampling interval of subgroup examines i.i.d. (Identically and Independent Distributed) or auto-correlated processes. Three types of weight schemes according to the reliability of data include Shewhart, Moving Average(MA) and Exponentially Weighted Moving Average (EWMA) which are considered when designing ACCs. Two types of control charts by the purpose of improvement are also presented. Overall, $\alpha$, $\beta$ and APL for nonconforming proportion and RPL of claim proportion can be designed by practioners who emphasize productivity and claim defense cost.

모의실험에 의한 리커트형 설문분석 방법의 비교 (A simulation comparison on the analysing methods of Likert type data)

  • 리커트형 데이터가 순서척도임에도 불구하고 많은 연구자들이 구간척도로 간주하여 모수 방법을 적용하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 리커트형 데이터를 어떻게 분석하는 것이 적절한지 모의 실험을 통하여 알아본다. 다양한 분포를 갖는 5점 리커트형 표본을 추출하여 위치를 비교하고, 순서척도의 경우 위치비교 보다 응답분포를 살펴보는 것이 더 타당하므로 응답분포 검정을 실시한다. 위치를 비교하는 방법으로는 구간척도로 생각하고 분석하는 모수 방법인 t-검정과 순서척도로 생각하는 비모수 방법인 만- 휘트니검정 (M-W검정)을 적용하고, 응답분포를 검정하기 위해서는 카이제곱 검정과 콜모고로프 - 스미르노프검정 (K-S검정)을 실시한다. 네 가지 방법의 효율성을 비교하기 위하여 제 1종 오류 (Type I error)의 비율과 검정력 (power)을 구한다.

  • In this paper, we proposed a variable structure controller with fuzzy PI-쇼pe reaching law. we fuzzified as inputs to fuzzy system Rf(representative point's orthogonal distance(rd) to switching surface and RP's distance(r) to the origin of the 2-dimensional space whose coordinates are the error and the error rate. The increments of the coefficients $k_{p}$ and $k_{i}$, of the reaching law are calculated appropriate by the simplified Mamdanl inference. The proposed fuzzy PI-type reaching law makes it reduce the chattering and has no need to tune the PI parameters of reaching law. The effectiveness of the proposed fuzzy PI-type reaching law is shown by the simulation results of the control of a Ball-balance System.

PSO-Based Nonlinear PI-type Controller Design for Boost Converter

  • This paper designs a nonlinear PI-type controller for the robust control of a boost DC-DC converter using a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. Based on the common knowledge that the transient responses can be improved if the P and I gains increase when the transient error is big, a nonlinear PI-type control design method is developed. A design procedure to autotune the nonlinear P and I gains is given based on a PSO algorithm. The proposed nonlinear PI-type controller is implemented in real time on a Texas Instruments TMS320F28335 floating-point DSP. Simulation and experimental results are given to demonstrate the effectiveness and practicality of the proposed method.
