The purpose of this study was to review the current state and characteristics of instruments used to assess individual understanding of the nature of science (NOS). This study conducted a series of content analyses of the articles published in a total of seven Korean and international journals from 1990 to 2009. A total of 99 research papers and assessment tools were categorized according to their features such as item type, the method of development, philosophical perspectives and others. So, evaluation domains of the instruments were also compared with the features of the NOS endorsed in some standards science education documents internationally well known, such as Benchmarks for Science Literacy (AAAS, 1993), National Science Education Standards (NRC, 1996). It was found that VNOS was the most frequently used instrument used for the last 20 years. There was a difference between characteristics of instruments used in Korean journals and these in international journal, such as philosophical perspectives, item type. Moreover, the results showed that there were only a few of instruments to ask about ethics of scientists, significance of science process skill and the context. NOS instruments focused only on limited aspects of NOS emphasized by the standard documents.
Purpose: This preliminary study is aimed at developing standardized tools for psycho-social assessment of patients in needs for hospice/palliative care. To accomplish the purpose, investigators examined effects of perceptions of social workers on the importance of psycho-social domains of assessment in hospice/palliative care settings. Moreover, investigators paid attention to variances of perceptions of social workers' along with types of institution and credentials of those family settings. Methods: A form of questionnaire was first explored from an initial interview assessment of 10 government-certified hospice care providers and a literature review, second constructed with eight domains and 80 items, and sent by e-mail to 55 institutions and hospitals providing hospice/palliative cares in Korea. Lastly, a total of 31 agencies returned with a completed responses and consent form (56% response rate). SPSS program (version 18.0) was used for data analysis. Results: Study found that social workers perceived patients' family background (m=4.53, 5-point scale) as the most important assessment domain, whereas economic conditions (4.06 point) the least important. Social workers' perception varied by credentials (i.e., license types, training, full-time position, types of care facility). Conclusion: Based upon study findings, investigators can conclude strong needs for developing a assessment tool that measures multiple domains (i.e., psychological, social and ecological aspects) of patients. A standardized assessment tool should be structured with 2 axis (center/core and expanded/peripheral) and tailored for institution type. Second, professional trainings must be provided by strengthening legal institutionalization and fostering qualified social workers with full responsibilities of hospice and palliative care patients.

This study was conducted at an automobile assembly line located in Kyonggi-do, Korea from January 16 to February 28, 1995. The purposes of this study were to assess worker exposures to hand-arm vibration and the performance of gloves for reduction of vibration. The exposure to vibration was measured using to the ISO 5349(1986) method. Vibration acceleration and frequency spectra for each tool were determined on-line replicating actual working conditions and analyzed together with exposure time for evaluating individual worker exposure. Eight pneumatic hand tools, 60 workers exposured to hand-arm vibration, and three pairs of gloves were involved in this study. Results are summarized as follows. 1. Dominant frequencies of vibration for all tools(n=8) measured in this study ranged from 250 Hz to 800 Hz. 2. There was no significant correleration between dominant frequencies and free running speed (p>0.05). 3. Total predicted exposure times of using impact, hammer type did not exceed 40 minutes, but metal finish task, using grinder and sander exceeded 40 minutes. Total exposure time affected significantly the frequency-weighted, 4 hr equivalent acceleration. 4. Predicted prevalence and observed exposure period data were compared in workers(n=60), according to ISO 5349. In this results, 23(50.0 %) and 24(48.07 %) persons exceeded the mean latency periods for vibration-induced white finger(VWF) at 10 % (n=46) and 50 % (n=52) standards, respectively. On the basis of ISO equation, mean latent periods for VWF were 3.23, 4.72 years at 10 %, 50 % standards, respectively. 5. Reduction of vibration by gloves was evaluated. Since impact pneumatic tools produced low frequency vibrations, conventional gloves did not provide any protection. Gloves A and C amplify somewhat the signal at frequency below 400 Hz; the attenuation increases progressively by frequency to reach 18 dB ($7.94{\times}10^{-6}m/s^2$) at 1,000 Hz, slightly worsening Glove B did not provide any protection and made the situation slightly worse. However, since they make the hands warm, the occurrence of vibration-induced white fingers may be reduced.

Assessment tools for non-academic qualities such as ethics frequently employ hypothetical scenarios to lay out a contextual framework underlying the corresponding criteria of assessment. Due to the context-specific nature of the assessment criteria, details of the scenarios become very important in obtaining accurate results. This study aims to explore how medical school applicants differ in ethical decision making depending on the types of ethical dilemma scenarios, and how they correlate with academic achievements after admission. In 2014, all 82 applicants invited for an admission interview for a graduate-entry program were asked to complete a questionnaire comprised of 13 hypothetical scenarios. There were three domains (unethical business decisions, unethical academic decisions, and sexual quid pro quos) and participants were made to choose between the profitable-but-unethical choice or the unprofitable-but-ethical choice, using a four-point Likert-type scale. On average, tendencies toward unethical decisions were lowest for sexual favors ($1.34{\pm}0.46$), and highest for gaining academic advantages ($2.22{\pm}0.56$). Unethical decisions for academic advantages and sexual benefits showed significant correlation respectively with the female gender and those who graduated from overseas universities. In addition, the propensity for choosing unethical academic decisions was significantly correlated with high academic achievements in medical school (r=0.396). Not only does this study demonstrate that different levels of ethical decision making depend on the scenarios, but also those differences may be a determinant factor in subsequent academic performances in medical school. In conclusion, given the possible influence of the details of the hypothetical scenarios to the applicant's responses, careful consideration must be given during their development.
The purpose of this study is to explore secondary mathematics teachers' perceptions on Artificial Intelligence (AI). For this purpose, we conducted three focus group interviews with 18 secondary in-service mathematics teachers and analyzed their perceptions on AI for math and math for AI. The secondary in-service mathematics teachers perceive that AI allows to implement different types of mathematics instruction but has limitations in exploring students' mathematical thinking and having emotional interactions with students. They also perceive that AI makes it easy to develop assessment items for teachers but teachers' interventions are needed for grading essay-type assessment items. Lastly, the secondary in-service mathematics teachers agree the rationale of adopting the subject <Artificial Intelligence Mathematics> and its needs for students, but they perceive that they are not well prepared yet to teach the subject and do not have sufficient resources for teaching the subject and assessing students' understanding about the subject. The findings provide implications and insights for developing individualized AI learning tools for students in the secondary level, providing AI assessment tools for teachers, and offering professional development programs for teachers to increase their understanding about the subject.

This study attempted, in accordance with the National Educational Curriculum, to develop achievement assessment standards for a course within the field of home economics which has been widely adopted by Korean vocational high schools, namely, the food and nutrition subject. Focus was also placed on strengthening the management of the curriculum for this food and nutrition course, as well as on establishing proper assessment standards by developing model assessment tools which can be used to assess the subject. The results of this study can be summarized as follows : First, based on an analysis of the related literature and materials. the desired notion of the achievement and assessment standards was established, and their significance ascertained the achievement and assessment standards for the food and nutrition course were set and the type of model assessment tool which should be developed, as well as the method in which it should be applied. was established Second. by analyzing the curriculums and the contents of the textbooks used in the food and nutrition subject, the researcher was able to compile the 70 factors which could to be used to develop the achievement and assessments standards, and then classify these into 6 main categories and 32 sub-categories. Based on the characteristics of these factors and learners' academic performance levels the number of factors was expanded to 89 in order to establish the achievement standards. In turn, these achievement standards were used, in accordance with the learners' achievement and teaming activity levels, to develop three different levels of assessment standards. namely, upper, middle, and lower ones. Third. a model assessment tool was developed which could be used by individual school units as a reference in terms of achievement and assessment standards, and that could be modified to meet each school's circumstances. In order to create the model assessment tool a 100-question questionnaire was formulated that contained various types of questions, such as essay, report, theoretical and practical, portfolio, as well as multiple choice-type questions. Lastly, the researcher introduced measures to effectively use the achievement and assessment standards developed for the food and nutrition course, as well as the model assessment tool in school units.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship and degree of agreement between the six types of Geometry Psychological Assessment (GEOPIA) and four functions of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) personality test, and to investigate the appropriate level of vocational aptitude commonly recommended by each tool. A total of 377 adult men and women from Korea, aged between 19 and 70 years, were tested using GEOPIA and the MBTI. Cronbach's alpha was calculated to verify the validity and reliability of the measuring tools, and the mean and standard deviation of each variable were calculated. Also, a cross-sectional analysis was conducted to examine the relationship between GEOPIA and the MBTI. The results showed that Round/Triangle (RT) types, Round/Box (RB) types, Triangle/Box (TB) types and Box/Curve (BC) types among the GEOPIA personality types are highly related to MBTI's Sensing/Thinking (ST) types. GEOPIA RC types were related to Intuition/Feeling (NF) and Sensing/Feeling (SF) types, and TC types were highly related to Intuition/Thinking (NT) types. Based on the common characteristics of the two tests, the findings suggest appropriate levels of vocational aptitude. Through this research, it was confirmed that GEOPIA (a Korean psychology and personality test) can be used in counseling, coaching, and education, and above all, is a reliable tool for vocational psychological assessment to search for career aptitude.
The study investigates the type of organizational culture, using the organizational culture assessment instrument(OCAI) developed by Cameron and Quinn based on the competing value model(CVM), and analyzed the gap between current and desirable organizational culture empirically. The analytic results show that while the organizational members prefer the relational organizational culture as a dominant organizational culture on the current level. Also they prefer the relational organizational culture as a desirable organizational culture on the future level. In addition, the diagnosis of organizational culture by the type of status reveals that while the public educational personnel and staff recognized the relational organizational culture as a strong culture, the local public service employee identified the hierarchical culture as a dominant culture on the current level. Those findings suggest the following implications. First, the sustainable management of organizational culture requires the suitable strategic tools. That is to say, they need to introduce and carry out practical strategies to sustain change and control for each type of organizational culture. Second, despite the fact that the balance among four types of organizational culture is needed the strategy to reinforce the dominant culture, considering the types of status and affiliation.
This work deals with the assessment of the burnup capabilities of the Serpent Monte Carlo code to predict spent nuclear fuel (SNF) isotopic concentrations for low-enriched uranium (LEU) fuel at different burnup levels up to 47 MWd/kgU. The irradiation of six UO2 experimental samples in three different VVER-1000 reactor units has been simulated and the predicted concentrations of actinides up to 244Cm have been compared with the corresponding measured values. The results show a global good agreement between calculated and experimental concentrations, in several cases within the margins of the nuclear data uncertainties and in a few cases even within the reported experimental uncertainties. The differences in the performances of the JEFF3.1.1, ENDF/B-VII.1 and ENDF/B-VIII.0 nuclear data libraries (NDLs) have also been assessed and the use of the newly released ENDF/B-VIII.0 library has shown an increased accuracy in the prediction of the C/E's for some of the actinides considered, particularly for the plutonium isotopes. This work represents a step forward towards the validation of advanced simulation tools against post irradiation experimental data and the obtained results provide an evidence of the capabilities of the Serpent Monte-Carlo code with the associated modern NDLs to accurately compute SNF nuclide inventory concentrations for VVER-1000 type reactors.
Recently, the increasing importance of artificial intelligence (AI) technology has led to its increased use in various fields in the shipbuilding and marine industries. For example, typical scenarios for AI include production management, analyses of ships on a voyage, and motion prediction. Therefore, this study was conducted to predict a response amplitude operator (RAO) through AI technology. It used a neural network based on one of the types of AI methods. The data used in the neural network consisted of the properties of the vessel and RAO values, based on simulating the in-house code. The learning model consisted of an input layer, hidden layer, and output layer. The input layer comprised eight neurons, the hidden layer comprised the variables, and the output layer comprised 20 neurons. The RAO predicted with the neural network and an RAO created with the in-house code were compared. The accuracy was assessed and reviewed based on the root mean square error (RMSE), standard deviation (SD), random number change, correlation coefficient, and scatter plot. Finally, the optimal model was selected, and the conclusion was drawn. The ultimate goals of this study were to reduce the difficulty in the modeling work required to obtain the RAO, to reduce the difficulty in using commercial tools, and to enable an assessment of the stability of medium/small vessels in waves.
