In this paper, we propose a robust controller for robot manipulators with parametric uncertainties using feature-based visual servo control system. In order to improve trajectory error of the robot manipulators due to the parameter variation, integral action is included in the dynamic control of part in inner subroutine of the control system. This integral action also reduces feature error in the steady state. The stability analysis of the closed-loop system is shown by the Lyapunov method. The effectiveness of the proposed method is shown by simulation and experimental results on the 5 link robot manipulator with two degree of freedom.
Uninterrupted power supply has become indispensable during the maintenance task of active electric power lines as a result of today's highly information-oriented society and increasing demand of electric utilities. The maintenance task has the risk of electric shock and the danger of falling from high place. Therefore it is necessary to realize an autonomous robot system using electro-hydraulic manipulator because hydraulic manipulators have the advantage of electric insulation. Meanwhile it is relatively difficult to realize autonomous assembly tasks particularly in the case of manipulating flexible objects such as electric lines. In this report, a discrete event control system is introduced for automatic assembly task of electric lines into sleeves as one of the typical task of active electric power lines. In the implementation of a discrete event control system, LVQNN (linear vector quantization neural network) is applied to the insertion task of electric lines to sleeves. In order to apply these proposed control system to the unknown environment, virtual learning data for LVQNN is generated by fuzzy inference. By the experimental results of two types of electric lines and sleeves, these proposed discrete event control and neural network learning algorithm are confirmed very effective to the insertion tasks of electric lines to sleeves as a typical task of active electric power maintenance tasks.

Making the best use of the features of the electro-rheological(ER) valve, a two-port pressure control valve using ER fluids is proposed and manufactured. The ER-Valve characteristics are evaluated by changing the intensity of the electric field and the number of electrode. In addition, the performance of the plate type ER-Valve is investigated by change the particle concentration of the ER fluid. As only with electrical signal change to the ER-Valve in which ER fluid flowing, ER fluid flow is controlled, so development of simple ER-Valves have been tried. The ER-Valves and pressure drop check method are considered to be applied to the fluid power control system. Using the minかnぉd pressure control valve, a one-link manipulator with FHA in robot system is driven. As a result, it is experimentally confirmed that the pressure control valve using ER fluids is applicable to use in driving actuator. If it applies characteristics of the ER fluids, it will be able to apply in the control system fir the ER Valve which occurs from industrial controller(PLC).

After having durability test, shear stress increased regularly because of starch particles crushed by pump and particle size that was almost the same. Moreover, Ra of copper electrode increased about 1.56 times rather than before those of performing durability test, and Rz increased about 2.2 times.

In this paper, the compliance control method was propoSL'Cl and the phase-difference operating principle of an u ultrasonic motor described. The compliance control can he implementtcD with spring/damper properties of the r musculo-skeletal system of the actual limb in controlling its net configuration and movement. The proposed p phase-difference driving scheme is verifitcD through the computer simulation. Also, $textsc{k}$rformance of the proposed c control method of a two-link direct-drive manipulator are examinLD by the experimental results with resptc'Ct to s spring/ damper properties.

To realize a visual servo control of slender manipulators, two problems to be solved are analysed. The stability problem on so-called noncolocation control and the infinite order problem of the real Jacobian matrix caused by the elastic deformation are discussed. By considering the dynamic relations between rigid and elastic modes, a Jacobian operator is derived and the physical meaning is also explained. Then, for practical control, a simple control scheme using an approximate Jacobian is proposed and its stable conditions are proven by means of the $L_$2$ stability theory. The scheme is structurally similar to the conventional PD control laws, but external sensors(e. g. visual sensor) are used for positioning and internal sensors for damping. A good performance is obtained via control experiments of a slender two link manipulator.
In this paper, a robust nonlinear prediction-type controller (RNPC) is developed for the continuous time nonlinear system whose control objective is composed of system output and its desired value. The basic control law of RNPC is derived such that the future response of the system is first predicted by appropriate functional expansions and the control law minimizing the difference between the predicted and desired responses is then calculated. RNPC which involves two controls, i.e., the auxiliary and robust controls into the basic control, shows the stable closed loop dynamics of nonlinear system of any relative degree and provides the robustness to the nonlinear system with parameter/modeling uncertainty. Simulation tests for the position control of a two-link rigid body manipulator confirm the performance improvement and the robustness of RNPC.

It is inevitable for local systems to have deviations which represent interactions and modeling errors originated from the decomposition process of a large scale system. This paper presents a decentralized control scheme for interconnected systems using local linear models and a neuro-coordinator. In the proposed method, the local system is composed of a linear model and unknown deviations caused by linearizing the subsystems around operating points or by estimating parameters of the subsystems. Because the local system has unmeasurable deviations we define a local reference model which consists of a local linear model and a neural network to estimate the deviations indirectly. The reference model is reformed into a linear model which has no deviations through a transformation of input variables and we obtain an optimum feedback control law which minimizes a local performance index. Finally, we derive a decentralized feedback control law which consists of local linear states and neural network outputs. In the decentralized control, the neuro-coordinator generates a corrective control signal to cancel the effect of deviations through backpropagation learning with the errors obtained from the differences of the local system outputs and reference model outputs. Also, the stability of local system is proved by the degree of learning of the neural network under an assumption on a neural network learning index. It is shown by computer simulations that the proposed control scheme can be applied successfully to the control of a biased two-link planar robot manipulator.

An Algorithm based on direct implementation of variable structure systems theory approach is proposed for on-line training of multilayer perceptrons. Network structures which have multiple inputs, single output and one hidden layer are considered and the weights are assumed to have capabilities for continuous time adaptation. The zero level set of the network learning error is regarded as a sliding surface in the learning parameters space. A sliding mode trajectory can be brought on and reached in finite time on such a sliding manifold. Results from simulated on-line identification task for a two-link planar manipulator dynamics are also presented.

This paper deals with the application of enhanced perturbation estimation (SMCEPE) to sliding mode control of a dynamic system in the presence of perturbations including external disturbances, unpredictable parameter variations, and unstructured dynamics. Compared to conventional sliding mode control (SMC) and sliding mode control with perturbation estimation (SMCPE), the proposed one can offer robust control performances under serious control conditions, such as fast dynamic perturbations and slow loop-closure speeds, without a priori knowledge on upper bounds of perturbations. The perturbation estimator in SHCEPE also has more adaptability owing to the fractional-order hold technique. The effectiveness and superiority of the proposed control strategy are demonstrated by a series of simulations on the position tracking control of a two-link robot manipulator.
