  • In this paper, using the direct drive arm for plant, the controller is developed to track the desired trajectory in high speed and precision. For the purpose of this, through extending self-tuning pole-placement algorithm, we developed self-tuning pole-shift algorithm which is fast in response and good tracking for the reference tracking change. Developed controller is applied a three-link direct drive arm with the varing payload to track the desired tracking. And, through the computer simulation, the performance of developed controller is compared with the performance of the computed torque method and the self-tuning pole placement algorith.

  • In this paper, we present self-tuning control of switched reluctance motor for maximum torque with phase current and shaft position sensor. Determination method of turn-on/off angle is realized by using self-tuning control method. During the sampling time, micro-controller checks the number of pulse from encoder and compare with the number of pre-checked pulse. After micro-controller calculates between two data, it moves forward or backward turn-off angle. When the turn-off angle is fixed optimal turn-off angle, the turn-on angle automatically moves forward or backward by a step using self-tuning control method. And then, optimal turn-off angle is searched once again. As such a repeating process, turn-on/off angle is moved automatically to obtain the maximum torque. The experimental results are presented to validate the self-tuning algorithm.

  • In this paper, we propose a PID-PD controller and its tuning method to be modified form of PID controller that consist of the affine set of PID and PI-PD controller by analyzing relation between these controllers. The proposed tuning method controls the closed-loop system to locate between the step responses of system controlled by PID and PI-PD controller. The controller is designed by the optimum tuning method to minimize the proposed specific cost functions. Its effectiveness is examined by the case studies and their analysis.

  • By far the PID controller is most widely sed in the process industries. However, current tuning methods yield PID parameters only for a restricted class of process models. There is no general methodology of PID controller tuning for arbitrary process models. In this paper, we generalize the IMC-PID approach and obtain the PID parameters for general models by approximating the ideal controller with a Maclaurin series. Further, the PID controller tuned by the proposed PID tuning method gave more closer closed-loop response to the desired response than those tuned by other tuning methods.

  • In this paper, we present a novel approach for tuning the resonant frequency of torsionally driven vertical comb actuators. The tuning unit composed of thermal actuator, scissor mechanism and V-shape shaft enables continuous and reversible resonant frequency tuning. The proposed method is based on the stiffness alteration of the V-shape shaft. It is experimentally verified that the resonant frequency of the torsional microscanner is shifted up to 1.59 kHz from 1.51 kHz showing the maximum tuning ratio of 5.29%.

  • Although the MEMS element is made through a very precise manufacturing process, usually there is the difference between the modeling design and the actual product. So tuning is required. Through the frequency tuning(changing the characteristics of device), we can calibrate the fabrication error and uncertainty. I'll propose the method of changing the natural frequency through the imposing the axial force on the anchor part to separate the sensing part and the tuning part. When the shape of section is the form of rectangular, the degree of the natural frequencies' change under axial force appears D be different. Applying a tuning force of 30 $\mu$N, the natural frequencies' difference can be reduced by 5 percent.

  • The oater level control system of the steam generator in a pressurized water reactor and its control Problems are analysed. In this work a stable control strategy Particularly during low Power operation based on the fuzzy control method is studied. The control strategy employs substitutional information using the bypass valve opening instead of incorrectly measured signal at the low How rate as the fuzzy variable of the flow rate during low power operation, and includes the flexible scale adjusting method for fast response at a large transient. A self-tuning algorithm based on the control performance and the descent method is also suggested for tuning the membership function scale. It gives a practical way to tune the controller under real operation. Simulation was carried out on the Compact Nuclear Simulator set up at Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute and its result showed the good performance of the controller and effectiveness of its tuning.

  • This paper proposed new IMC-PID controller design method that use loop shaping method. It could consider such design specifications as gain margin, phase margin, sensitivity function etc by appling the loop shaping method for tuning IMC-PID controller whose structure has only one design parameter and guarantees internal stability. To shape desirable loop gain, the relation between these design specification and parameter is derived by mathematical basis. And the availability of proposed in this paper tuning method that can regard design specifications is checked through example comparison and analysis.

  • We present a hybrid self-tuning method using hyper elliptic Gaussian membership function. The proposed method applies a GA to identify the structure and the parameters of a fuzzy inference system. The parameters obtained by a GA, however, are near optimal solutions. So we solve this problem through a backpropagation-type gradient method. It is called GA hybrid self-tuning method in this paper. We provide a numerical example to evaluate the advantage and effectiveness of the proposed approach and compare with the conventional method.

  • AVR parameter tuning for voltage control of generators has generally been done with the off-line open-circuit model of the synchronous generator. When the generator is connected on-line and operating with load the AVR operates in an entirely different environment from the open-circuit conditions. This paper describes a new method for AVR parameter tuning for on line conditions using SQP(Sequential Quadratic Programming) meshed with frequency response characteristics of linearized on-line system model. As the proposed method uses the un - line system model the tuned parameter sets show more optimal behavior in the on-line operating conditions. furthermore, as this method considers the performance indices that are needed for stable operation as constraints, AVR parameter sets that are tuned by this method could guarantee the stable performance, too.
