  • E-commerce in Korea has grown steadily in recent years. E-commerce has provided firms with an effective method to approach potential customers by overcoming geographical and physical barriers. However, despite the rapid growth, many e-commerce businesses closed their businesses and were not able to survive. This study aims to empirically examine the factors that determine the survival of e-commerce businesses in Korea. In particular, this study focuses on the factors related to the notion of institution-based trust that includes delivery, privacy, and security management. This research used the data set about 31,295 e-commerce businesses that have been registered in Seoul. We found that the e-commerce business that does not require extra personal information beyond the standard terms and conditions or provides a feedback mechanism by having an online board to submit a complaint has a higher chance of survival. In addition, the e-commerce business that has a secured web server, shows the specific information about the date of delivery, or provides escrow services is likely to survive longer than others. The research has extended the extant literature on the importance of trust in e-commerce by empirically examining the effects of the institution-based trust factors on the actual survival of e-commerce businesses.

The reference group is an important factor in determining the underlying causes of young adults' purchasing intentions. However, the literature states that young adults prefer to buy brands they trust in order to eliminate the risks that may arise when buying products they may not know. Moving from this perspective, the study proposes a conceptual model that including structural relationships between brand trust, reference group, and purchasing intention. The study aims to contribute to the literature by discussing the moderator role of brand trust in this structure. A series of hypotheses are tested via a survey completed by 749 young people between the ages of 20 and 30 living in Istanbul, Turkey. The data were analyzed with IBM SPSS-23 and AMOS-18 program. In addition to descriptive, reliability, and factor (exploratory and confirmatory) analysis, hierarchical regression analysis was performed to test the research hypotheses. The results show that the reference group positively influences the purchasing intention, and brand trust plays a moderating role in this relationship. The findings are discussed and some practical suggestions are made for mobile phone manufacturers.

The truncated sampling technique and Likert-scale survey is a suitable method for analyzing Vietnamese rice retailers and data collection. The preliminary test was conducted using SPSS Statistics; the main test was, then, carried out to evaluate the proposed model and test the hypotheses. Appropriately, the results point to a significant influence of attitudinal factors on trust and satisfaction. • There are recently several studies of online auctions which have focused on exploring a bidder's bidding behavior in IS area. Those studies, however, have been limited to account for bidders' bidding behavior in the view of TAM and trust, not considering perceived price fairness and competition intensity. Although this view point seems reasonable in the online auction sites, few previous studies employing this perspective are found in the relevant literatures. Based on it, this study developed a comprehensive model based on trust and TAM in terms of perceived price fairness to explain competition intensity in the online auction sites. This study collected 269 survey responses from online bidders who have prior experiences with online auction sites. The survey data are used to empirically verify 11 research hypothesis by using LISREL. The results indicate that trust in websites, trust in sellers and perceived usefulness have significant impacts on perceived price fairness. Finally, perceived price fairness is strongly related to competition intensity in the online auction. This study ends with theoretical and managerial implications, as well as limitations and future research.
