  • Optical triangulation displacement sensors(0TDSs) are widely used for their simple struchlre, high resolution, and long operating range. However, there are several factors that must be taken into account in order to obtain high accuracy and reliability Measurement errors from inclinations a? an object surface, prohe signal fluctuations generated by speckle effects. power vanation of a light source, electronic noises, and so on. Previous models of OTDSs can not show reasonable behavior as change of surface inclination and shape of light intensity distribution on the detector. In this paper, we propose a new and reasonable modeling for diffise-type OTDSs based on a geometrical optics. To verify propriety of new modeling, we take basic experiments. Shape of light intensity distribution is asymmetric in both simulation result and experimental result. Both simulation result and experimental result show same tendency of light intensity distribution movement as changing surface inclination

  • Optical Triangulation Probes (OTPs) are widely used for their simple structure. high resolution, and long operating range. However, errors originating from speckle, inclination of the object, source power fluctuation, ambient light, and noise of the detector limit their usability. In this paper, we propose new design criteria for an error-reduced OTP. The light source module for the system consists of an incoherent light source and a multimode optical fiber for eliminating speckle and shaping a Gaussian beam Intensity profile. A diffuse-reflective white copy paper, which is attached to the object, makes the light intensity distribution on the change-coupled device(CCD). Since the peak positions of the intensity distribution are not related to the various error sources, a sub-pixel resolution signal processing algorithm that can detect the peak position makes it possible to construct an error-reduced OTP system

The 3 Dimensional Triangulation Scheme based on the Space Segmentation in WPAN

  • Most of ubiquitous computing devices such as stereo camera, ultrasonic sensor based MIT cricket system and other wireless sensor network devices are widely applied to the 2 Dimensional(2D) localization system in today. Because stereo camera cannot estimate the optimal location between moving node and beacon node in Wireless Personal Area Network(WPAN) under Non Line Of Sight(NLOS) environment, it is a great weakness point to the design of the 2D localization system in indoor environment. But the conventional 2D triangulation scheme that is adapted to the MIT cricket system cannot estimate the 3 Dimensional(3D) coordinate values for estimation of the optimal location of the moving node generally. Therefore, the 3D triangulation scheme based on the space segmentation in WPAN is suggested in this paper. The measuring data in the suggested scheme by computer simulation is compared with that of the geographic measuring data in the AutoCAD software system. The average error of coordinates values(x,y,z) of the moving node is calculated to 0.008m by the suggested scheme. From the results, it can be seen that the location correctness of the suggested scheme is very excellent for using the localization system in WPAN.

용접접합부의 형상계측을 위한 주사형 시각센서의 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on Design of Visual Sensor Using Scanning Beam for Shape Recognition of Weld Joint.)

  • A visual sensor consisted of polygonal mirror, laser, and CCD camera was proposed to measure the distance to the weld joint for recognizing the joint shape. To scan the laser beam of the sensor onto an object, 8-facet polygonal mirror was used as the rotating mirror. By locating the laser and the camera at axi-symmetrical positions around the mirror, the synchronized-scan condition could be satisfied even when the mirror was set to rotate through one direction continuously, which could remove the inertia effect of the conventional oscillating-mirror methods. The mathematical modelling of the proposed sensor with the optical triangulation method made it possible to derive the relation between the position of an image on the camera and the one of a laser light on the object. Through the geometrical simulation of the proposed sensor with the principal of reflection and virtual image, the optical path of a laser light could be predicted. The position and direction of the CCD camera were determined based on the Scheimpflug's condition to fit the focus of any image reflected from an object within the field of view. The results of modelling and simulation revealed that the proposed visual sensor could be used to recognize the weld joint and its vicinity located within the range of the field of view and the resolution. 삼각측량법 기반의 정지 표적 정밀 크기 추정기법 연구 (A Study on the Static Target Accurate Size Estimation Algorithm with Triangulation)

  • In this paper, the TSE (Triangulation based target Size Estimator) algorithm is presented to estimate static target size at IIR (Imaging Infrared) environment. The size information is important factor for accurate IIR target tracking. But the IIR sensor can't generate distance between missile and target to calculate target size. In order to overcome the problem, we propose TSE algorithm which based on triangulation measurement. The performance of proposed method is tested at target intercept scenario. The experiment results show that the proposed algorithm has suitable performance for the accurate static target size estimating.

  • Location information of individual nodes is useful for routing and some other functions in wireless sensor networks. Each node can use GPS to know its position. However, the GPS service can not be practical to use due to cost efficiency, power, and computing capability. This paper proposes the localization method to make nodes know their location in case of a few nodes knows their position information. The proposed method is named as VALT (Virtual Anchor based Localization using Triangulation method). It uses the virtual anchor concept and calculates the location of individual nodes by means of the triangulation method. This method helps all nodes to determine their position with low cost and high scalability.

  • Optical measurement methods make it possible to detect object displacements with high resolution and noncontact measurements. Also, they are very robust against EMI noises and have long operation range. An optical triangulation sensor is one of widely used displacement measurement sensors for its sub-micron resolution, fast response, simple structure, and low cost. However. there are several errors caused by inclinations of a surface. speckle effects, power fluctuations of light sources, and noises of detectors. In this paper, in order to minimize error effects, we performed error analysis and proposed a new structure. Then, we setup a new modeling method and verify it through simulations and experiments. Based on the new model. we propose a new sensor structure and establish design criteria. Finally, we design a signal processing system to overcome a resolution-limited problem of light detectors. The resolution of the proposed system is 0.2${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in 5mm operating range.

효율적인 버 형상 측정방법 개발 (Development of Effective Measurement Method for Burr Geometry)

  • Triangulation method, conoscopic holography method and interferometry method are analyzed for effective measurement of micro burr geometry, which is formed in micro drilling. To select proper sensor, the cross section of a cylinder with 0.5mm diameter is measured and the result shows that conoscopic holography method is effective for measuring highly inclined surface in cylinder. Burrs with 1.0mm and 30${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ height are measured by three suggested methods. As a result, the conoscopic holography method is proved to be most proper in measuring burr geometry. Burr measurement system is developed, which consists of conoscopic laser sensor, X-Y table, controller and burr measurement program. Burrs can be measured automatically and the result is displayed in 3D shape

정지 표적 정밀 크기 추정을 위한 TTSE 알고리즘 연구 (A Study on the Static Target Accurate Size Estimation Algorithm with TTSE)

  • In this paper, the TTSE (Target size and Triangulation-based target Size Estimator) algorithm is proposed to estimate static target size in an imaging environment. The target size information is an important factor for accurate imaging target tracking. However, the imaging sensor cannot generate distance between the missile and target to calculate the target size. To overcome the problem, we propose the TTSE algorithm, which is based on target size and triangulation. The proposed method performance is tested in a target intercept scenario. The experiment results show that the proposed algorithm has better performance than the conventional algorithm (ET-TSE) for accurate CCD target size estimation.
