  • This paper intends to propose the direction for improving the welfare space in crew accommodation of fishing vessels engaged in coastal and inshore fishery business in order to solve the phenomenon which young fishers trend to avoid working on fishing vessels. Coastal and inshore fisheries are defined as permitted fisheries business under the Fisheries Act and classified into coastal fisheries and inshore fisheries based on a gross tonnage of 10 tons. Fisheries Act also stipulates the upper limit tonnage regulation and the restrictions on bottoms of fishing vessels permitted for coastal and inshore fisheries to protect fishery resources and to prevent overfishing. It is difficult to increase the welfare space in crew accommodation of fishers under such restrictions because the welfare space in crew accommodation could be secured by reducing the space for the strength of fishing. Therefore, this paper compares the revision trend of the international convention(The Work in Fishing Convention, 2007) and domestic laws on welfare space in crew accommodation of fishing vessels engaged in coastal and inshore fishery business to find out the problems and improvement points in securing the welfare space in crew accommodation of fishing vessels. As a result, it is proposed to revise the Enforcement Ordinance of the Fisheries Act so as to secure the welfare space in crew accommodation of coastal and inshore fishing vessels within the scope of maintaining the maximum allowable tonnage limit regulation by adding an exemption provisions of the restrictions on bottoms of fishing vessels in which case the gross tonnage is increased for securing the spaces for crew accommodation and sanitary facilities of fishers without increasing net tonnage where the bottoms of fishing vessels is increased by renovating or replacing the fishing vessels bigger than the bottoms of fishing vessels permitted within the scope of maintaining the maximum allowable tonnage limit regulation.

  • This study discuses the strategies for the reestabisgment of Korean textile industry by emphasizing the area of textile design which plays an important role in developing textile materials. The textile industry in Korea has been in stagnancy for a long period of time and appears to find no answer to the problem. The big part of the problem is that the industry itself does not realize the importance of textile design and its management does not understand its critical role in contributing the growth of the industry. To develop textile design, first, we need to foster textile designers who have the creativity, an understanding of international trend and a mind f management. This can be achieved through an education system with a close tie to the textile industry. Second, we need to globalize our textile design in three aspects : design, technology and marketing. A balanced and harmonized progression of these three aspects will guarantee a successful globalization of textile design. This progression, however, demands creativity, identity, and interaction on the design side, digital and networking on the technology side, and culture marketing, brand value, and global agent networking on the marketing side.

  • A change in industrial education has been demanded with the emergence of rapidly changing knowledge-based society. Keeping pace with the current trend, the Specialized High Schools should analyze what their students need and suggest what they should do to be qualified for work. Even though the education paradigm is in the process of change from traditional industrial society to knowledge-based society, the Specialized High School still focuses on the out-of-trend traditional curriculum. Now, it's a time to introduce new curriculum which analyzes on-the-spot tasks and enhances students' creativity and capability to solve problems. For this study, new '3-Type school curriculum' models are examined. Furthermore, the on-the-spot based curriculum, which nurtures students' creativity and capability to take care of things should be adopted. This paper showed a direction toward the activation and generalization of the industrial education by specifying to which direction the 3-type curriculum-based the Specialized Vocational High School should move.

Freshmen (n=93) and seniors (n=82) at three universities of education were asked to express their views with 8 items in the Views On Science-Technology-Society, which consisted of two subcategories; 'influence of science/technology on society' (4 items) and 'influence of society on science/technology' (4 items). Mann-Whitney U test revealed that the scores of the freshmen were higher than those of the seniors. This trend was notable particularly in the item concerning 'influence of corporations on science/technology' and 'influence of interest groups on science/technology'. In comparing the scores by gender, a significant difference was found in the item concerning 'influence of policy on science/technology' for the freshmen.

  • The domestic seismic retrofit guide was primally enacted in 1988, then the mandatory target have been consistently. As a result, the rate of earthquake-resistant is achieved 58.3% in public facilities. On the other hand, the rate of earthquake-resistant is low as 24.8% in education facilities. As education facilities damaged from Gyeong-ju, Po-hang earthquake occurred in South-Korea and the rate of earthquake-resistant is low, the seismic retrofit of existing education facilities got to be ordinary people's interest. Therefore, domestic researchers have been developed seismic retrofit methods which can apply to existing educational facilities, It is expected to become more active in the future. However, it is insufficient to consideration that how far domestic technology has been developed. Therefore, the objective of this study is to measure the level of domestic research through comparative analysis between domestic and foreign researches that seismic retrofit methods which can apply to existing educational facilities.

The findings of this study were as followings First, regarding the published year, the studies related to the secondary school level engineering education were started from 2004 and had been conducted most actively from 2007 to 2011 (32 pieces). However, the number of studies decreased after 2012. Second, regarding the research topic, the number of study followed by 'survey/investigation' (16 pieces), 'establishment of concept/theoretical discussion' (11 pieces), 'verification of teaching method/models' effect' (10 pieces), 'teaching method/model observation' (7 pieces), 'development of concept/teaching method/model' (4 pieces). Third, regarding the research subject, the number of study followed by 'high school student' (17 pieces), 'literature' (16 pieces), 'teacher' (12 pieces), 'professor' (5 pieces). Fourth, regarding the research method, the number of study followed by 'survey research' (13 pieces), 'literature research' (12 pieces), 'qualitative research' (12 pieces), 'experimental research' (6 pieces), 'integrated research' (5 pieces). Based on the conclusion of this study, there are the needs for further studies to establish theoretical foundation on the engineering concept and content elements in secondary school level, investigate technology teachers' perception toward the implementation of engineering education, and analyze secondary school students' problem solving process.

  • Domestic industry calamity rate did decrease in large numbers by many efforts of the safety and health organizations. But that is low yet among the OECD countries. Calamities are started In most work inexperience and safety consciousness absence. So, we can know that education is how important. Domestic small and medium enterprises are in trend that industrial accident is increased by deterioration of hardware, not enough preparedness of safety equipments. But, the safety and health education had not been utilized so far effectively and applied systematically. Therefore, the most important among many means to reduce calamity is the safety and health education. An efficient education will supply suitable knowledge and technology to work people. And that will lead to prevent accident by building right habit and attitude. This research did the survey about problems of education that is enforced in small and medium enterprises. That survey is done to three groups of workers, administrators and managers. We compared domestic safety and health education system and advanced foreign system. And, analyzed problems and presented a solution. Finally, this research presented efficient operation model of the safety and health education suitable to domestic medium and small enterprises.
