Enforced environmental regulations call for extending the domain of manufacturers' responsibility to the entire product life cycle. To comply with the environmental regulations, manufacturers have constructed reverse logistics networks to re-collect their leftover waste for recycling consumed resources. However, the operational activities associated with storage, loading and transportation processes within the networks inevitably impose environmental burdens. Particularly, the transportation process largely influences environmental performance due to perpetual uses of transportation vehicles. Therefore, there is a need to develop an environmentally-conscious transportation model that can efficiently manage the uses of transportation vehicles. Additionally, it is vital to analyze its significances of environmental performance to compare quantitatively it with existing models. This paper proposes a transportation model for improving environmental performance in a reverse logistics network. This paper also presents a case study to perform its comparative analysis using Life Cycle Assessment that evaluates potential environmental impacts of a product system.

The main purpose of this study is to develop air transportation cultural index which is able to estimate the level of them. Generally Speaking, air transportation cultural, a compound word of 'air transportation' and 'culture', is a substantial entity consisting knowledge, art, morality, legality, cultivation, customs, and etc, which comes from aircraft operation sector, airport operation/management sector and user sector. They are classified in a primary scope, as aircraft operation sector relating to flight operation, airport operation/management sector and user sector. The research and analysis were taken approximately 4 months, from June 2004 to October 2004. To evaluate the index, the detailed item for three categories were chosen and quantified. The grades for each items were induced from calculation formula for air transportation cultural index by applying weight values. The final grade of Korea's air transportation cultural index recorded 63.19 points.

자동차 보유의 증가로 수도권 지역에서 인구가 출 퇴근하는 행태가 자동차이용형으로 급변하는 현실에서 자동차를 받아들일 수 있는 인프라가 대단히 열악하다. 교통수요관리 정책이 시행됨에도 불구하고 여전히 많은 통행이 나타나고 있으며, 이에 상응하는 국내 외 연구는 미미한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 현재 국내 외에서 시행되고 있는 교통수요관리 정책을 선정하여 설문조사를 실시하였다. 이 설문조사를 바탕으로 AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process)분석을 수행하여 국내 외에서 시행되고 있는 교통수요관리 정책을 비교하여 우위를 정하고 이용자들이 느끼는 각 항목별 중요도와 만족도를 파악하였다. 또한 AHP분석 기법을 통하여 얻어낸 항목별 중요도와 만족도를 바탕으로 각 교통수요관리 정책 특성을 비교하였다. 마지막으로 본 연구를 통해 파악된 요인들로 현재의 현황을 분석하고 앞으로의 교통수요 정책 방향을 정립하여 향후 교통여건개선에 활용하고자 한다.

Some regions and states, such as Wyoming, have harsh weather conditions, forcing most transportation projects to be completed under tight schedules. However, construction projects are not only delayed by weather conditions, but also delayed by other factors such as contractor's competency, resource availability, coordination issues, and safety. Also, the construction method, geographical location of the projects, and inability to follow baseline schedules accurately due to the contractor's resource allocation are also reasons for the delay. This paper discusses the main reasons for the delay in the public transportation projects based on Daily Work Reports (DWRs) from five different transportation projects of the last three years in Wyoming. This paper focuses on the inconsistencies of the contractor's schedules to complete the project according to the baseline schedule. First, the authors collected DWRs and baseline schedules from the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT). Second, the DWR data are compared against the baseline schedules to determine the reasons for delaying their significance. Finally, the paper presents the recommendations to mitigate the effects of delays on public transportation projects as well as to improve the documentation process of DWR data.

This study is following the study of "A Meta Analysis on International Trade Transportation and Logistics" published in Korea Trade Review(KTR) in 2014 and adding additional analysis for articles published in journals of international trade transportation and logistics. Studying issues of KTR are moving from transportation to logistics after 2014 and it is similar with the other international journals. The ratio of the thems of 'Economic, Policy, Regional, Technical, General Enterprise Management' in KTR is 36%, while 57.36% of IJLM and 61.88% of JBL. Main theme in the field of international transportation and logistics is Supply Chain Management(SCM). After the former study, in the viewpoint of research methods, quantitative researches are increased while their portion is still low compare to International Journal of Logistics Management(IJLM) and Journal of Business Logistics (JBL). Especially econometric research method is highly adopted in the international journals compare to KTR. Number of authors of KTR is less than IJLM and JBL, because the collaboration between researchers is needed when they publish articles in the international journals like IJLM and JBL.

The common shortest path problem is to find the shortest route between two specified nodes in a transportation network with only one traffic mode. The public transportation network with multiple traffic mode is a more realistic representation of the transportation system in the real world, but it is difficult for the conventional shortest path algorithms to deal with. The genetic algorithm (GA) is applied to solve this problem. The objective function is to minimize the sum of total service time and total transfer time. The individual description, the coding rule and the genetic operators are proposed for this problem.

In railway system, the transportation plan corresponds to master plan for transport services. This service plan must be constructed to minimize operational cost or maximize revenue considering transportation demands and resource capacities in the operation company, and includes several sub-planning activities such as train operation frequency plan, train (schedule) plan, train capacity assignment plan, and rolling stock requirement plan. In this paper, we present profitability evaluation system for current transportation plan. The proposed system can be used for evaluating profitability by estimating train service revenue considering customer demands.

This paper discusses a paradox in an Indefinite Quadratic transportation Problem. Here, the objective function is the product of two linear functions. A paradox arises when the transportation problem admits of a total cost which is lower than the optimum cost, by transporting larger quantities of goods over the same route. A sufficient condition for the existence of a paradox is established. Paradoxical Range of flow is obtained for any given flow in which the corresponding objective function value is less than the optimum value of the given transportation problem. It is illustrated with the help of a numerical example.

Under a VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) system, the vendor holds a certain level of control over not only inbound replenishment decisions on stocking but also outbound re-supply decisions. In this situation, vendor faces a better opportunity to synchronize the inventory and transportation decisions. However, shipment consolidation can reduce transportation expenses, but delivery time about the customer comes to be long and a customer service is fallen. Thus, a stock and transportation decision must consider this correlation. This study look into the relevant literature and suggest about further research direction.
