A Study on Analysis of Issues in Developing a Basic Road Transport Database and Proposals for Enhancing Its Reliability and Data Sharing (with Focus on Databases Related to Road Transport Demand Estimation) (도로부문 교통기초자료 구축사업의 문제점 분석 및 개선방안 연구 (교통수요 예측 자료를 중심으로))

  • In Korea, previously implemented road construction project caused a big budget waste due to overestimation of transport demand. There could be reasons for such inaccuracy of transport demand estimation, but the main reasons are: (1) low reliability of used basic road transport data and (2) inadequate sharing of data among agencies/departments. The National Transport Database and the Household Travel Database in Seoul Metropolitan Area, two representing basic road transport database, will be used to the establishment of a road construction plan that will be promoted afterwards. However, these materials have problems such as low reliability and inadequateness, too. Hence, focusing on transport demand estimation related databases, this paper will make proposals for enhancing their reliability and data sharing.

A Design of Signal Transport System with High Reliability in an Underwater Sensor Array (수중 센서 어레이에서 고 신뢰성을 고려한 신호 전송 시스템 설계)

  • A system for detecting underwater target demands a high operational reliability because of the difficulty of maintenance and repair when the system has a few troubles during long operating period. Therefore, in this paper, we have proposed a signal transport system with a high reliability in an underwater sensor array system composed of magnetic and acoustic sensors. In this system, the nodes for signal transport are connected dually each other with single-hop construction and a magnetic sensor is connected to a couple of neighboring nodes. This enables the output signal to transport from a node to the next node and the next but one node. Also, the signal from a magnetic sensor can be transported to two nodes at the same time. Thus, the system with this construction makes possible to transport sensor data to another node which works normally when a transport node or cable have some faults and will operate normally although it happens some problems in a few signal transport nodes and connection cables.

  • The trend of globalization and the development of the communication-Information technology not only complexified the supply chain, but also, led to the needs of the high quality of logistics service for customers. I t defines risks that can occur in truck transport under unexpected situation with Fault Tree Analysis(FTA) and calculates failure rate concerning relationship between each risks. Based on the 4 kinds of middle failure events that defined in FTA, Reliability function which is regarded about risks sequentiality and time flow is resulted in. I t is meaningful that it calculates reliability of logistics and transportation system with engineering methodology.

  • Multicast protocols are efficient methods of group communication such as video conference, Internet broadcasting and On-Line Game, but they do not support the various transmission protocol services like a reliability guarantee, FTP, or Telnet that TCPs do. The Purpose or this Paper is to find a method to utilize multicast routers can simultaneously transport multicast packets and TCP packets. For multicast network scalability and error recovery the existing SRM(Scalable Reliable Multicast)method has been used. Three packets per TCP transmission control window site are used for transport and an ACK is used for flow control. A CBR(Constant Bit Rate) and a SRM is used for UDP traffic control. Divided on whether a UDP multicast packet and TCP unicast packet is used simultaneously or only a UDP multicast packet transport is used, the multicast receiver with the longest delay is measured on the number of packets and its data receiving rate. It can be seen that the UDP packet and the TCP's IP packet can be simultaneously used in a server router.

Error Adaptive Transport Protocol in Variable Error Rate Environment for Wireless Sensor Networks

  • Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are characterized by low capacity on each nodes and links. Wireless links have high bit error rate (BER) parameter that changes frequently due to the changes on network topology, interference, etc. To guarantee reliability in an error-prone environment, a retransmission mechanism can be used. In this mechanism, the number of retransmissions is used as a parameter that controls reliability requirement level. In this paper, we propose an Error Adaptive Transport Protocol (EATP) for WSNs that updates the number of retransmissions regularly to guarantee reliability during bit error rate changes as well as to utilize energy effectively. The said algorithm uses local information, thus, it does not create overhead problem.

  • Halide perovskites are promising photovoltaic materials due to their excellent optoelectronic properties like high absorption coefficient, low exciton binding energy and long diffusion length, and single-junction solar cells consisting of them have shown a high certified efficiency of 25.2%. Despite of high efficiency, perovskite photovoltaics show poor stability under actual operational condition, which is the mostly critical obstacle for commercialization. Given that the stability of the perovskite devices is significantly affected by charge-transporting layers, the use of inorganic charge-transporting layers with better intrinsic stability than the organic counterparts must be beneficial to the enhanced device reliability. In this review article, we summarized a number of studies on the inorganic charge-transporting layers of the perovskite solar cells, especially focusing on their effects on the enhanced device reliability.

Values of travel time reliability (통행시간 신뢰성 가치 산정에 관한 연구)

  • The term, travel time reliability, refers to variations in journey time that travelers cannot predict. This issue has been one of the main research topics in transport studies. This paper, especially, investigates the value of travel time reliability. The marginal substitution rate method is suggested as the way for the valuation and travelers' stated preference data are collected based on a choice experiment. A mode choice model is estimated using the data surveyed. The parameters of travel costs and travel time reliability from the model are used to calculate the marginal substitution rate that is interpreted as the value of travel time reliability. The value is arranged by travel areas of intercity and urban trips and by journey purposes of working and non-working types. The result of this research is expected to be helpful of conducting more cautious economic feasibility studies of transport schemes.

  • The first and second-order reliability method(FORM and SORM) is presented using one dimensional finite difference and two dimensional finite element transport models. FORM and SORM can be used without any restrictive assumptions about the properties of the media, and the sensitivity information obtained as part of these analyses is used to identify the parameters which have major influence on the estimate of probability. The reliability analysis of transport in a one-dimensional domain is used to test the robustness of the reliability code and to evaluate the accuracy of the reliability method. A continuous source 2-D example with a concentration threshold limit state function is used to evaluate the influence of the parameters in the location of interest on the reliability solution.

  • The objective of this study is to revise the related regulations and laws of intelligent transport systems performance tests and methods. This study improves the reliability of present traffic information, reduce public discontent by systematic reforms and reduce national and social costs through the analysis of intelligent transport system performance tests'current status and problems. This study will maximize the investment profits and efficiency of ITS system as the reliability of transportation information which is created through the maintenance of ITS equipment and center, systemization of work responsibility through close analysis of ITS performance test and overall evaluation of role of ITS performance assessment organization will improve and new level of service will be born.

A Measure for Travel Time Reliability (통행시간 신뢰성 지표 개발 및 산정에 관한 연구)

  • The term, travel-time reliability, refers to variations in journey time that travelers cannot predict. The purpose of this paper is to suggest a standard way to measure travel time reliability. A modified buffer time indicator is proposed. The index is represented by the difference between planned and actual travel times based on lognormal type travel time distribution. Using this framework, a constant function for railways and a negative parabola function for roads are discussed. The model developed is applied to the real data of Korean road and rail usages to empirically verify the methodology proposed. In this process, the unit value of travel time reliability for each group is estimated. The result of this research is expected to be helpful of conducting more cautious economic feasibility studies of transport.
