Preferential 흐름에 의한 토양내의 다영역 용질이동 모델 (Multi-Region Model of Solute Transport in Soil for the Preferential Flow)

  • A multi-region model for solute transport through saturated soils has been developed to describe preferential flow. The model consists of numerous discrete pore groups, which are characterized by a discrete dispersion coefficient, flow velocity, and porosity . The hydraulic properties for each pore group are derived from a soil's hydraluic conductivity and soil water characteristic functions . Flow in pore group is described by the classical advection-disersion equation (ADE). An implict finite difference scheme was applied to the governing equation that results in a block-tridiagonal system of equations that is very efficient and allows the soil to be divided into any number of pore groups. The numerical technique is derived from methods used to solve coupled equations in fluid dynamics problems and can also be applied to the transport of interacting solutes. The results of the model are compared to the experimental data from published papers. This paper contributes on the characteristics of the method when applied to the parallel porosity model to describe preferential flow of solutes in soil.

Simulation of Hydrogen Transport in a Single-walled Carbon Nanotube for Storage Safety

  • Carbon nanotubes hold much promise as future materials for safe storage of hydrogen. In this paper, hydrogen transport mechanisms in single-walled carbon nano-tubes (SWNTs) for various temperatures and chiral indices were studied using molecular dynamics simulation method. The SWNT models of zigzag (10,0), chiral (10,5) and armchair (10,10) with hydrogen molecules inside were simulated at temperatures ranging from 253K to 373K. Movements of hydrogen molecules ($H_2$) inside a SWNT were analyzed using mean-square displacements and velocity autocorrelation functions.

  • With the rapid development of Urban Mass Transit in China, the Intelligent Transport System becomes inevitable. Based on the brief introduction of the blueprint of Urban Mass Transit in Shanghai, this paper analyses in detail the components and functions of Automatic Train Control (ATC) system applied in Shanghai Metro, presents the key technology of the main three subsystems of the ATC system : Automatic Train Supervision (ATS) subsystem, Automatic Train Protection (ATP) subsystem, Automatic Train Operation (ATO) subsystem. After reading this paper, you will have an general grasp of ATC system. At the end of the paper, it suggests a good resolution about the ATC system equipment to be made in China. Non-equilibrium Molecular Dynamics Simulations of Thermal Transport Coefficients of Liquid Water

  • In a recent $paper^1$ we reported equilibrium (EMD) and non-equilibrium (NEMD) molecular dynamics simulations of liquid argon using the Green-Kubo relations and NEMD algorithms to calculate the thermal transport coefficients-the self-diffusion coefficient, shear viscosity, and thermal conductivity. The overall agreement with experimental data is quite good. In this paper the same technique is applied to calculate the thermal transport coefficients of liquid water at 298.15 K and 1 atm using TIP4P model for the interaction between water molecules. The EMD results show difficulty to apply the Green-Kubo relations since the time-correlation functions of liquid water are oscillating and not decaying rapidly enough except the velocity auto-correlation function. The NEMD results are found to be within approximately ${\pm}$30-40% error bars, which makes it possible to apply the NEMD technique to other molecular liquids.

  • 본 논문에서는 현대 데이터 컨퍼런싱 분야에서 국제적인 표준으로 되어있는 T.120시리즈의 핵심 기술인 MCS를 멀티캐스트 수송계층 포르토콜 위에서 수행하기 위한 알고리듬을 제안하고 이에 따른 구현 구조를 기술하였다. 구현된 알고리즘은 기존의 MCS와 역방향 호환성을 유지하면서 새로운 멀티캐스트 수송계층의 기능을 충분히 이용할 수 있게 하였다. 이를 위하여 MCS의 연결설정 시에 상대의 수송계층이 멀티캐스트 기능을 가지고 있는 지를 조사하여 멀티캐스트 기능이 있다면 멀티캐스트 수송계층의 기능을 이용하고, 없다면 단일 수송계층을 이용하게 된다. 이러한 기술적인 내용에 대하여는 T.120 시리즈의 상호운용성 시험을 주관하는 IMTC에 기고될 예정이다.

천장크레인의 무인운전 시스템을 위한 운동제어 알고리즘 개발 (Development of a Motion Control Algorithm for the Automatic Operation System of Overhead Cranes)

  • A search algorithm for the collision free, time optimal transport path of overhead cranes has been proposed in this paper. The map for the working environment of overhead cranes was constructed in the form of three dimensional grid. The obstacle occupied region and unoccupied region of the map has been represented using the octree model. The best-first search method with a suitable estimation function was applied to select the knot points on the collision free transport path to the octree model. The optimization technique, minimizing the travel time required for transporting objects to the goal while subjected to the dynamic constraints of the crane system, was developed to find the smooth time optimal path in the form of cubic spline functions which interpolate the selected knot points. Several simulation results showed that the selected estimation function worked effectively insearching the knot points on the collision free transport path and that the resulting transport path was time optimal path while satisfying the dynamic constraints of the crane system.

Assessment and Correlation of Saline Soil Characteristics using Electrical Resistivity

  • Soil salinity is becoming one of the most devastating environmental hazards over the years. Soil investigation involves fast, low cost and non disturbing methods to measure soil characteristics for both construction projects as well as for agricultural use. The electrical resistivity of saline soils is greatly governed by salt concentration and the presence of moisture in soil matrix. Experimental results of this investigation highlight that there is a significant relationship between the electrical resistivity of soil samples mixed with chloride solutions (NaCl, KCl, and MgCl2) at various concentrations, and soil physical properties. Correlations represented by quadratic functions were obtained between electrical resistivity and soil characteristics, namely, water content, degree of saturation and salt concentration. This research reveals that the obtained correlations between electrical resistivity, salt concentration, water content and degree of saturation are effective for predicting the characteristics of salt affected soils in practice, which constitute a governing element in the assessment of saline lands sustaining infrastructure.

An hp-angular adaptivity with the discrete ordinates method for Boltzmann transport equation

  • This paper describes an hp-angular adaptivity algorithm in the discrete ordinates method for Boltzmann transport applications with strong angular effects. This adaptivity uses discontinuous finite element quadrature sets with different degrees, which updates both angular mesh and the degree of the underlying discontinuous finite element basis functions, allowing different angular local refinement to be applied in space. The regular and goal-based error metrics are considered in this algorithm to locate some regions to be refined. A mapping algorithm derived by moment conservation is developed to pass the angular solution between spatial regions with different quadrature sets. The proposed method is applied to some test problems that demonstrate the ability of this hp-angular adaptivity to resolve complex fluxes with relatively few angular unknowns. Results illustrate that a reduction to approximately 1/50 in quadrature ordinates for a given accuracy compared with uniform angular discretization. This method therefore offers a highly efficient angular adaptivity for investigating difficult particle transport problems.

동해 남서해역의 해류 및 열구조에 미치는 해상풍의 영향 (Influences of the Sea Surface Wind on Current and Thermal Structures in the Southwestern Part of the East Sea of Korea)

  • 한국 동해안을 따라 북상하는 동한 난류가 울릉 분지내의 난수괴(Warm Core)에 직접적인 영향을 미치는지를 알아보기 위해서 그 경로의 시간적 변화를 조사해 보았다. 수산진흥원에서 13년간(1975-1987) 관측된 loom 수심의$10^{\circ}C$ 등온선 분포와 $2^{\circ}C$ 수심 분포도, 200m 수심의 수온 분포도를 사용해서 난수괴의 중심위치와 동한 난류의 북상 여부를 결정했다. 동시에 천기도에서 계산된 해상풍으로 동해 전반에 걸친 월 평균 wind stress curl값을 구하고 Sverdrup balance를 이용해 유선함수값을 구했다. 그 결과 동한 난류의 경로는 항상 일정하지 않고 시간에 따라 변하며 퐁한 난류가 동해 연안을 따라 북상하지 않는 기간에도 난수괴는 동한 난류와 무관하게 존재함을 알 수 있었다. 유선함수 분포를 통해 대마 난류의 분지 및 동한 난류의 북상에 미치는 해상풍의 영향을 알아본 결과 대마 난류의 세기가 약한 4월에 한달 전의 해상풍에 의한 해수의 이동으로 동한 난류의 북상이 저지될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 Sverdrup transport와 난수괴의 위치는 상관성이 별로 없었으나 여름철 수산진흥원 조사 해역중 $38^{\circ}N$를 통해 흐르는 남향류는 동해 북부 해역의 찬 해수가 극전선 남쪽의 영구수온약층 밑으로 내려오면서 난수괴의 열구조와 위치에 영향을 미칠 가능성을 말해준다.
