  • In the adaptable bandwidth allocation technique, a transmission plan for variable rate video data is made by the CBA algorithm and the data is transmitted by considering network traffic. But the CBA algorithm produces a transmission plan where the size of the increasing interval of transmission rate is generally larger than the size of the decreasing interval. And the transmission rate in CBA algorithm is changed in overflow curve during the increasing interval of transmission rate. This ぉy cause many frames to be discarded when available transmission rate is small. In this paper, a smoothing algorithm is proposed, where transmission rate is changed in the middle of underflow curve and overflow curve, but the transmission rate increases at the minimum. In order to show the performance, the proposed algorithm and a CBA algorithm were applied to a transmission plan in the adaptable bandwidth allocation technique, and the minimum frame rates, the average frame rates, the variation of frame rates, and the numbers of discarded frames were compared in both algorithms.

  • Recently, many of researches on stream transmission for satisfying each of different real-time transmission condition of the multimedia data that demands various service quality through high-speed networks have been studied actively. In this paper, we design a scheme that discriminately reserves the network resources for the transmission of each multimedia application and propose a bandwidth allocation scheme for improving the utilization ratio of free resources. And we also propose a pipelining scheme for providing flexible real-time transmission. The proposed schemes can be used to support a real-time transmission by applying feedback transmission control method based on receiving buffer for guaranteeing the synchronization conditions requested by the multimedia data. Moreover, we propose a transmission control scheme that can take the amount of network resources down to the minimum amount within the range of permissible error-range under the guarantee with no quality degradation simultaneously when the bottleneck is caused by the network congestion. Finally, we propose a dynamic bandwidth smoothing scheme that can smooth the maximum bandwidth to the demand of each video steam for giving continuous transmission to the delay sensitive video steam between senders and receivers.

  • In this paper, we introduce an adaptive radio resource allocation for IP-based mobile satellite services. We also present a synchronous multibeam CDMA satellite system using an orthogonal resource sharing mechanism among downlink beams for the adaptive packet transmission. The simulation results, using a Ka-band mobile satellite channel and various packet scheduling schemes, show that the proposed system and resource allocation scheme improves the beam throughput by more than two times over conventional systems. The simulation results also show that, in multibeam satellite systems, a system-level adaptation to a user's channel and interference conditions according to user locations and current packet traffic is more efficient in terms of throughput improvement than a user-level adaptation.

  • In this paper, we consider measurement allocation problem in a spatially correlated sensor field. Our goal is to determine the probability of each sensor's being measured based on its contribution to the estimation reliability; it is desirable that a sensor improving the estimation reliability is measured more frequently. We consider a spatial correlation model of a sensor field reflecting transmission power limit, noise in measurement and transmission channel, and channel attenuation. Then the estimation reliability is defined distortion error between event source and its estimation at sink. Motivated by the correlation nature, we model the measurement allocation problem into a cooperative game, and then quantify each sensor's contribution using Shapley value. Against the intractability in the computation of exact Shapley value, we deploy a randomized method that enables to compute the approximate Shapley value within a reasonable time. Besides, we envisage a measurement scheduling achieving the balance between network lifetime and estimation reliability.

  • In the uniform price electricity market or bilateral electricity market, the energy transactions in which the network is not considered and ISO's system operation costs which ISO try to minimize are settled separately. In this paper, transmission loss, one of the ISO's system operation costs, was dealt. The conventional marginal loss allocation method gives economic signals but three aspects have to be considered; excessiveness, arbitrariness and cross-subsidy. In this paper, marginal loss compensation efficiency method was suggested which consider those aspects of the conventional marginal loss allocation method. Also the characteristics of the marginal loss compensation efficiency were analyzed in the appendixes. And simple 2-bus system and IEEE 14 bus system were used to explain these characteristics.

  • An adaptive modulation scheme is presented for multiuser orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing systems. The aim of the scheme is to minimize the total transmit power with a constraint on the transmission rate for users, assuming knowledge of the instantaneous channel gains for all users using a combined bit-loading and subcarrier allocation algorithm. The subcarrier allocation algorithm identifies the appropriate assignment of subcarriers to the users, while the bit-loading algorithm determines the number of bits given to each subcarrier. The proposed bit-loading algorithm is derived from the geometric progression of the additional transmission power required by the subcarriers and the arithmetic-geometric means inequality. This algorithm has a simple procedure and low computational complexity. A heuristic approach is also used for the subcarrier allocation algorithm, providing a trade-off between complexity and performance. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed algorithms provide comparable performance with existing algorithms with low computational cost.

  • In this paper, we proposed ARAHE(Adaptive Resource Allocation algorithm for HIPERLAN/2 with Error channel). It uses EIB(Error Indication Bits) for efficient resource allocation. We evaluate the performance of ARAHE by simulation and the result shows ARAHE has better performance than current method in the case of delay, utilization and TSR(Transmission Success Rate).

  • In this paper, A progressive coding of mean difference pyramid by Hadamard transform of the difference between two successive pyramid levels has been studied. A block adaptive bit allocation method based on ac energy of each sub-block has been proposed, which efficiently reduces the final distortion in the progressive transmission of image parameters. In our scheme, the dc energy equals the sum of the quantization errors of the Hadamard transform coefficients at previous level. Therefore proposed allocation method includes the estimation of dc energy at each pyramid level. Computer simulation results show some improvements in terms of MSE and picture quality over the conventional fixed allocation scheme.

  • We propose a dynamic time allocation method in cooperative multiplexing with partial relaying system. This method uses a linear programming and considers protocol that is based on relaying of partial information bits followed by cooperative multiplexing. In this protocol, regardless of the location of relay, the allocation time for each transmission time slots are constant. Using a dynamic time allocation method with considering the location of relay, we can find optimal transmission time slots, and show that the system capacity is optimized.

  • With the rapid development of information and communications technology, the construction of efficient, reliable, and safe Internet of Things (IoT) is an inevitable trend in order to meet high-quality demands for the forthcoming 6G communications. In this paper, we study a secure intelligent reflecting surface (IRS)-assisted IoT system where malicious eavesdropper trying to sniff out the desired information from the transmission links between the IRS and legitimate IoT devices. We discuss the system overall performance and propose a hybrid resource allocation scheme for maximizing the secrecy capacity and secrecy energy efficiency. In order to achieve the trade-off between transmission reliability, communication security, and energy efficiency, we develop a quantum-inspired marine predator algorithm (QMPA) for realizing rational configuration of system resources and prevent from eavesdropping. Simulation results demonstrate the superiority of the QMPA over other strategies. It is also indicated that proper IRS deployment and power allocation are beneficial for the enhancement of system overall capacity.
