  • With the advent of robust deep learning method, Neural machine translation has recently become a dominant paradigm and achieved adequate results in translation between popular languages such as English, German, and Spanish. However, its results in under-resourced languages Korean and Vietnamese are still limited. This paper reports an attempt at constructing a bidirectional Korean-Vietnamese Neural machine translation system with the supporting of Korean analysis tool - UTagger, which includes morphological analyzing, POS tagging, and WSD. Experiment results demonstrate that UTagger can significantly improve translation quality of Korean-Vietnamese NMT system in both translation direction. Particularly, it improves approximately 15 BLEU scores for the translation from Korean to Vietnamese direction and 3.12 BLEU scores for the reverse direction.

  • It is undeniable that the meanings usedinpractice are agreed feelings in the limited universe of discourerse of among the cognators of the linguistic expressions. The fact that the feelings are relative can be shown indirectly in terms of the indeterminacy of translations, because the feelings are not the physical object which can be visible or audible. However the agreed feelins also are not the absolute meanings, therefore these agreemnts are also relative depending on the situations used.

  • In this paper, we study the isomorphism problem of Cayley permutation graphs. We obtain a necessary and sufficient condition that two Cayley permutation graphs are isomrphic by a direction-preserving and color-preserving (positive/negative) natural isomorphism. The result says that if a graph G is the Cayley graph for a group $\Gamma$ then the number of direction-preserving and color-preserving positive natural isomorphism classes of Cayley permutation graphs of G is the number of double cosets of $\Gamma^\ell$ in $S_\Gamma$, where $S_\Gamma$ is the group of permutations on the elements of $\Gamma and \Gamma^\ell$ is the group of left translations by the elements of $\Gamma$. We obtain the number of the isomorphism classes by counting the double cosets.

  • A robotic external fixation system for the surgery of bone deformity correction was developed to simulate the execution process of mal-unioned femur by the adjustment of the joints of the fixation system. An inverse kinematics analysis algorithm was developed to calculate the necessary rotations and translations at each joint of the robotic system. The computer graphic model was developed for validation of the analysis result and visualization of the surgical process. For given rotational and angular deformity case, the surgical execution process using the robotic system was well matched with the pre-operative planning. The final residual rotational deformities were within $1.0^{\circ}{\sim}1.6^{\circ}$ after surgical correction process. The presented robotic system with computer-aided planning can be useful for knowledge-based fracture treatment and bone deformity correction under external fixation.

  • We propose a DVS technique for multiprocessor systems considering the energy consumed when translating voltage. We schedule periodic applications on two identical processors throughout a three-stage process; firstly, the computation energy consumption is minimized then the number of voltage translations is minimized. Finally, the result is compared with the schedule with no voltage translation and the one with smaller energy consumption is chosen. Overall, 10.6% energy reduction was achieved.

  • This parer presents a method of ranking translation word selection for Korean verbs based on lexical knowledge contained in a bilingual Korean-English dictionary and WordNet that are easily obtainable knowledge resources. We focus on deciding which translation of the target word is the most appropriate using the measure of semantic relatedness through the 45 extended relations between possible translations of target word and some indicative clue words that play a role of predicate-arguments in source language text. In order to reduce the weight of application of possibly unwanted senses, we rank the possible word senses for each translation word by measuring semantic similarity between the translation word and its near synonyms. We report an average accuracy of $51\%$ with ten Korean ambiguous verbs. The evaluation suggests that our approach outperforms the default baseline performance and previous works.

  • Asian mathematics curricula and textbooks are being recognized in the United States as at least partial explanation for the higher mathematics achievement of students in Asian countries compared to students in the United States. As a result there is considerable interest among many educators in the United States in curricula from Singapore and curricula from Japan. In addition, researchers and educators at one university in the American heartland have been using the English translations of a Korean primary mathematics curriculum for professional development and assessment with groups of Missouri teachers for the purpose of enhancing teachers' understanding of the fundamentals of mathematics, and in hopes of raising student achievement scores. A professional development initiative begun seven years ago and revived this year will entail a rigorous assessment which will be reported in 2009. Results of assessment of the earlier initiatives are reported here.

  • The notions of $\mathcal{N}$-subalgebras, (closed, commutative, retrenched) $\mathcal{N}$-ideals, $\theta$-negative functions, and $\alpha$-translations are introduced, and related properties are investigated. Characterizations of an $\mathcal{N}$-subalgebra and a (commutative) $\mathcal{N}$-ideal are given. Relations between an $\mathcal{N}$-subalgebra, an $\mathcal{N}$-ideal and commutative $\mathcal{N}$-ideal are discussed. We verify that every $\alpha$-translation of an $\mathcal{N}$-subalgebra (resp. $\mathcal{N}$-ideal) is a retrenched $\mathcal{N}$-subalgebra (resp. retrenched $\mathcal{N}$-ideal).

  • In this paper, the nonlinear dynamic response of Vehicle-Bridge interaction with the coupled equations of motion including nonlinear Hertzian contact is presented. The moving train model is chosen to have 10 degrees of freedom (DOF). The bridge is modeled as 2D Euler-Bernoulli beam element with 4 DOF for each element, two for rotations and another two for translations. The nonlinear Hertzian contact is used to simulate the interaction between vehicle and bridge. Base on the relationship of wheel displacement of the vehicle and the vertical displacement of the bridge in Hertzian contact, the coupled equations of motion of the whole system is derived. The convenient formulation was encoded into a computer program. The contact forces, contact area and stress of the rail surface were also computed. The accuracy and efficiency of the proposed program are verified and compared with exact analytical solution and other previous studies. Various numerical examples and parametric studies have demonstrated the versatility and applicability of the proposed program.
