In this paper, a mesoscale model of concrete is presented, which considers particles, matrix material and the interfacial transition zone (ITZ) as separate constituents. Particles are represented as ellipsoides, generated according to a prescribed grading curve and placed randomly into the specimen. In this context, an efficient separation procedure is used. The nonlinear behavior is simulated with a cohesive interface model for the ITZ and a combined damage/plasticity model for the matrix material. The mesoscale model is used to simulate a compression and a tensile test. Furthermore, the influence of the particle distribution on the loaddisplacement curve is investigated.

This study developed the jet integral model to analyze the behavior of the wastewater discharge in the near field using the fourth order Runge-Kutta method in order to numerically solve the problems of six ordinary differential equations and six unknowns. This jet integral model used the entrainment hypothesis and the manipulation of sonle shape constant. This study also conducted the hydraulic experiments fnr single horizontal buoyant Jet using LIF through the calibration procedure. The results calculated by the previous models, CORMIX 1 and VISJET, and the proposed jet integral model were compared to the hydraulic experimental results. The centerline trajectories predicted by the proposed model were in good agreements with the experimental results in the transition region whereas the trajectories calculated by the VISJET model agreed well with the measured data in the momentum and buoyancy-dominated regions. The centerline dilution calculated by the proposed model agreed generally with the measured dilution in the intial and transition regions while the centerline dilution predicted by the CORMIX 1 was in good agreements with the experimental results in the momentum and buoyancy-dominated regions.

On November 15, 2017, Pohang earthquake occurred. Its local magnitude was announced to be $M_L=5.4$ by Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). Ground motion data recorded at KMA stations were obtained from their data bases. From the data, horizontal and vertical response spectra, and V/H ratio were calculated. The horizontal spectra were defined as GMRotI50 spectra. From the statistical analysis of the GMRotI50 spectra, a mean plus one standard deviation spectrum in lognormal distribution is obtained. Regression analysis is performed on this curve to determine the shape of spectrum including transition periods. Applying the same procedure, the shape and transition periods of vertical spectrum were obtained. These results were compared with theKorean standard design spectra, which were developed from domestic and overseas intra-plate earthquake records, and Gyeongju earthquake response spectra. The response spectra of Pohang earthquake were found to be almost identical with the newly proposed design spectra. Even the V/H ratios showed good agreement. These results confirmed that the method adopted when developing the standard design spectra were valid and the developed design spectra were reliable.
We propose a multi-state model for analyzing semi-competing risks data with interval-censored or missing intermediate events. This model is an extension of the 'illness-death model', which composes three states, such as 'healthy', 'diseased', and 'dead'. The state of 'diseased' can be considered as an intermediate event. Two more states are added into the illness-death model to describe missing events caused by a loss of follow-up before the end of the study. One of them is a state of 'LTF', representing a lost-to-follow-up, and the other is an unobservable state that represents the intermediate event experienced after LTF occurred. Given covariates, we employ the Cox proportional hazards model with a normal frailty and construct a full likelihood to estimate transition intensities between states in the multi-state model. Marginalization of the full likelihood is completed using the adaptive Gaussian quadrature, and the optimal solution of the regression parameters is achieved through the iterative Newton-Raphson algorithm. Simulation studies are carried out to investigate the finite-sample performance of the proposed estimation procedure in terms of the empirical coverage probability of the true regression parameter. Our proposed method is also illustrated with the dataset adapted from Helmer et al. (2001).

Microlens arrays were fabricated using a novel fabrication technology based on the exposure of a PMMA (Polymethylmethacrylate) sheet to deep X-rays and subsequent thermal treatment. X-ray irradiation causes the decrease of molecular weight of PMMA, which in turn decreases the glass transition temperature and consequently causes a net volume increase during the thermal cycle resulting in a swollen microlens. A new physical modeling and analyses for micro lens formation were presented according to experimental procedure. A simple analysis based on the new model is found to be capable of predicting the shapes of micro lens which depend on the thermal treatment. For the replication of micro lens arrays having various diameters with different foci on the same surface, the hot embossing and the microinjection molding processes has been successfully utilized with a mold insert that is fabricated by Ni-electroplating based on a PMMA microstructure of micro lenses. Fabricated microlenses showed good surface roughness with the order of 1nm.

On the basis of Nikuradse laboratory experiments. two transition flow regimes are defined with respect to the characteristics of boundary layer. One is the transitional turbulent flow which has a transitional characteristics between smooth turbulent flow and rough turbulent flow, and the other may be called as transitional laminar flow which has transitional features between laminar flow and turbulent flow. The laboratory results of Nikuradse are carefully re-examined, and the flow regions are clearly defined. The velocity profile of the transitional turbulent flow is described by newly formulated equation, and the Darcy-Weisbach friction coefficient for the transitional turbulent flow is determined based on the theoretical form of profile equation, which is far better accurate than Colebrook-White equation. Difficulties still arise for the description of velocity profile when the flow undergoes from laminar to turbulent. In this case a linear interpolation procedure is proposed for the estimation of friction coefficient.

On September 12, 2016, Gyeongju earthquake occurred. Its local magnitude was announced to be $M_L=5.8$ by Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). Ground motion data recorded at KMA, EMC and KERC stations was obtained from their data bases. From the data, horizontal and vertical response spectra, and V/H ratio were calculated. The horizontal spectrum was defined as geometric mean spectrum, GMRotI50. From the statistical analysis of the geometric mean spectra, a mean plus one standard deviation spectrum in lognormal distribution is obtained. Regression analysis is performed on this curve to determine the shape of spectrum including transition periods. Applying the same procedure, the shape and transition periods of vertical spectrum was obtained. These results were compared with the Korean standard design spectra, which were developed from domestic and overseas intraplate earthquake records. In order to overcome the lack of Korean credit rating migration data, we consider an empirical Bayes procedure to estimate credit rating migration matrices. We derive the posterior probabilities of Korean credit rating transitions by utilizing the Moody's rating migration data and the credit rating assignments from Korean rating agency as prior information and likelihood, respectively. Metrics based upon the average transition probability are developed to characterize the migration matrices and compare our Bayesian migration matrices with some given matrices. Time series data for the metrics show that our Bayesian matrices are stable, while the matrices based on Korean data have large variation in time. The bootstrap tests demonstrate that the results from the three estimation methods are significantly different and the Bayesian matrices are more affected by Korean data than the Moody's data. Finally, Monte Carlo simulations for computing the values of a portfolio and its credit VaRs are performed to compare these migration matrices.

Verticality problem during the installation process in offshore wind turbine substructures could degrade the safety of the whole structures. Therefore, in this paper, the design of vertically adjustable transition piece(T.P.), using a PS anchor and grout of anchor socket in concrete gravity based substructure(G.B.S.), was proposed. T.P. was designed for 5MW offshore wind trubine and can adjust up to $0.5^{\circ}$ in verticality, occurred during installation. The design plan for each members and design procedure for T.P. was proposed. Then based on the proposed design, actual design targeting sea of Jeju-island was carried out. Finally, by use of non-linear 3D Finite Element Analysis(F.E.A.), evaluation of design was performed. As a result of evaluation, by checking load transfer mechanism and stress of T.P, proposed design was considered safe up to $0.5^{\circ}$ of adjustment.

The purpose of this study was to form a linked model in which local institutions related to lifelong education for the disabled can cooperate based on the Daegu University K-PACE Center. The contents of the study started with recognizing the problem that the adult-centered lifelong education support system does not effectively cope with these factors, even though the independent life of people with developmental disabilities is a major factor determining the quality of life. Regarding this problem recognition, this study primarily emphasized the view that educational support for independent life of people with developmental disabilities should establish the context of the school foundation. The context of the school foundation is established for lifelong education centered on adulthood for people with developmental disabilities because the curriculum is embodied through the standards of subject matter education. In this regard, the Daegu University K-PACE Center, which established a curriculum that supports the independent life of people with developmental disabilities in terms of linking higher and lifelong education, actually reflects the context of the school foundation. As a result, this study prepared a strategy that could be considered as a transition to advance the curriculum organized by the Daegu University K-PACE Center, and the strategy was secondarily reflected as a procedure that could be linked to local lifelong education-related institutions for the disabled. Finally, this study presented a form of transition in which people with developmental disabilities can access the curriculum of lifelong education through the connection of local lifelong education-related institutions for the disabled, centering on the entire life of adulthood.
