Carbody basic design for rubber tired AGT (고무차륜 경량전철의 차체 기본설계)

  • AGT(Automated Guide-way Transit System) was introduced to satisfy the every increasing need for improved urban transportation. The AGT system is classified as medium distance and demand capacity mass transit being introduced for such area with inadequate passenger demand for railway construction but excessive demand for bus service. To decrease initial investment cost it is important that we have to secure the technology system of Light Rail Transit for Korea environment. By utilizing the finite element analysis, the result in this paper is enough to satisfy the strength whish is required. Also for the purpose of safety, it is decided the thickness and frame structure of the undeframe section through the analysis. It is known that carbody is no problem for required design conditions.

  • A set of design factors that should be considered during rail transit system development in proposed. As the current trend in the rail transit development emphasizes its role as a medium through which the interaction between the city environment and people takes place, the factors of harmony, color, characteristics, identity, and communication should be considered in the railway-transit system design. It's important to ensure that there exist harmony between the design and the civic environment, the influence of color on people is properly considered, the car design possesses distinct characteristics, and that the sense of common identity as well as effective communication is fostered between the system and people it serves. Several cases from various countries are presented to illustrate the points raised in the paper.

  • The concrete track system on domestic urban transit has being constructed since 1974. Because a maintenance and repair of concrete track system is convenient, a construction is increased. The concrete track system on domestic urban transit is constructed 71.8% of total track system length and constructed variously, for example STEDEF, LVT, ALT and so on. Recently, railway noise is issued as environment problem. The method for mitigation of urban transit noise is required. In this study to study noise characteristics on concrete tracks we measured noise by concrete track types and analysis the result.

  • Urban transit or subway stations generally service for a long period of several decades. And, the urban transit or subway is public transportation which lots of people takes every day. During the service time, they are inevitably damaged from environmental corrosion, material aging, fatigue, and the coupling effects with long-term loads and extreme loads. The included damage accumulates and performance degenerates due to the above factors. They would inevitably reduce the resisting capacity of station against the disaster; even they result in collapse with the structural failure under extreme loads. And, if disaster such as earthquake, fire, etc. happens, it causes huge property damage and threatens the human lives. Because of these above reasons, the intelligent health surveillance system should be researched and developed for ensuring the safety of station. In this paper, the research plans of the intelligent health surveillance system of urban transit station are presented. And also, the development or establishment directions of this system are suggested.

  • The train control and monitoring system(TCMS) is an on board computer system in railway vehicles performing the control, supervisory and diagnostic functions of the complete train. This system replaces a lot of hardwired relays and minimizes the necessaries vehicle wiring thus increasing the reliability of the train. In this paper, we proposed a software design technique of TCMS using CASE tool (SAO+). The TCMS functions are implemented in software easily programmed, using a functional block, graphic programming language. We applied the compressor air module to a case study.

[발표취소] Stable 5-body orbits in the Kepler-47 exoplanetary system: Predicting stable orbits of a possible third circumbinary planet

  • Kepler-47 is the first multi-body circumbinary planetary system detected by the Kepler space telescope. The two planets were detected by the transit method. In the discovery paper the authors report about the presence of an additional transit-like signal in their dataset which cannot be explained by a four-body (binary + 2 planets) system. Therefore it is likely that the unexplained signal could be due to a third planet. In this talk I will present recent results from a dynamical investigation of the five-body system (binary + 3 planets). We have applied the MEGNO technique to detect regions of quasi- or near quasi-periodic orbits of a hypothetical third planet. Quasi-periodic regions exists for a third planet and the long-term stability has been tested. Although the existence of a third planet is most likely to be confirmed from transit photometry we calculate transit-timing variation (TTV) signals due to the third planet which also can be used to infer its presence.

  • Over the years, Advanced Public Transportation System (APTS) has been implemented to manage and operate public transportation system. With the expanding mass spatio-temporal data such as comprehensive spatial information of each individual passenger and public transportation vehicle, it has been required to consolidate and analyze these multiple data sets from various sources. This paper demonstrates how GIS is utilized for the consolidation of massive transit related spatio-temporal information. And it presents effective applications to improve transit planning process and support transit related decision-making activities. GIS based system is used to combine multi-agents' data in the areas of transit operation and individual transit ride and transfer management. Due to the unique comprehensiveness and the level of detail of the data provide by the Seoul Transit system, this GIS based information consolidation is the first in its class. Based on the integrated database, this paper describes the effective and efficient GIS based analysis deployed in a transportation system planning process. The data integration systems and analytic models developed in this paper can be transferred and applied by any municipal governments provided that the appropriate data is available.

  • The maintenance of an urban transit vehicle accounts for 60-70% of total costs over its entire life cycle, so it is critical to reduce maintenance costs and extend the life times of urban transit EMUs (electric multiple units) through research. For these researches, the reliability and availability data management system was constructed through the case study of several industries in the domestic and international in the field of reliability centered maintenance system. And we created a system to manage reliability and availability data for use in urban-EMU maintenance. In this work, we identified the major functions needed to successfully develop the system. Here we report the successful development of a reliability and availability data management system for maintenance of urban transit vehicles.

Development of a Piecewise Bendable Switch System for the Urban Transit MagLev(I) (도시형 자기부상열차용 굴절형 분기장치의 개발(I))

  • This paper presents the status quo of the development of a piecewise bendable switch system for the urban transit MagLev. MagLev system as well as railroad requires switch systems to reach its destination. Requirements of the switch system for commercial lines are high speed operation satisfying about 2-3 minute headway and system reliability, etc. Parallel moving type switch system was installed on the test track of urban transit MagLev in KIMM. In this system, switch operation from one position to another can be done in about 90 seconds. Therefore, we concluded that this system can not satisfy the headway for the commercial lines. We decided to develop a high speed piecewise bendable switch system in which switching can be done in 20 seconds. Designed switch system is very complicated in view of operating mechanism. It consists of 11 segmented girder beams driven by hydraulic cylinders. To gain the idea of a piecewise bendable switch system, we manufactured and tested a 1/5 scale switch model. We are going to construct a full scale piecewise bendable switch system next year.
