  • Recently, demands for the reduction of noise generated by transformers have been increasing. Almost all the noise generated by a transformer is a result of magnetostrictive vibration in the core. The noise radiates into the atmosphere from the tank through the insulation oil. One method of reduction such a noise is to build a free-standing enclosure of concrete and steel plates around the transformer. However, this method has some disadvantages, for example, a large area is needed for equipment installation. In this paper, the vibration and noise effects which is transferred from reinforce channel to insulation panel generated by transformer have been identified for the several kinds of insulation panel shape and damping sheet experimentally.

  • The mold transformers have been widely used in underground substations in large building and have some advantages in comparison to oil-transformer, that is low fire risk, excellent environmental compatibility, compact size and high reliability. In addition, the application of mold transformer for outdoor is possible due to development of epoxy resin. The mold transformer generally has cooling duct between low voltage coil and high voltage coil. A mold transformer made by one body molding method has been developed for small size and ow loss, but it needs some cooling method because heat radiation between each winding is difficult. The life of transformer is significantly dependent on the thermal behavior in windings. Many transformer designers have calculated temperature distribution and hot spot point by finite element method(FEM) to analyze winding temperature rise. In this paper, The thermal analysis of pole mount mold transformer with one body molding by duct condition is investigated and the test result of temperature rise is compared with simulation data.

  • In this study, temperature sensors were adhered to transformer that is used in KHST(Korean High-Speed Train) to verify variation of temperature characteristics about transformer synthetically and efficiently. In the case that temperature of transformer exceeds reference temperature for running of KHST, overheating of transformer may cause a fatal accident of vehicle. Therefore, after on-line measuring system was constructed in vehicle, oil temperature and tank temperature were measured on real-time. Characteristics and main specifications of transformer in KHST were described in this paper Also, measuring system for temperature measurement of transformer was explained in brief. Temperature data of transformer was acquired using measuring system, KRRI(Korea Railroad Research Institute) analyzed characteristic in contrast with comparing with temperature of transformer about month, running speed and running time.

  • Recently, as the road capacity reaches the limit and environmental problems becomes serious, there is gradually increased a need for railroad vehicles that are environment-friendly and have time regularity, reliability, and safety. Accordingly, in addition to conventional railroad vehicles, lots of vehicles are being newly developed. • It was known that oil-filled transformer's life depended on insulating paper which was applied to transformers for insulating of transformer. Therefore when paper was aged, its electrical, mechanical and chemical characteristics were changed. Especially if operating temperature was high, paper was quickly damaged. As cellulose paper which was mainly used for solid insulation of transformers was degraded, the cellulose polymer chains broke down into shorter lengths and gases such as CO, $CO_2$, $CH_4$, $C_2H_4$ and so on were produced from paper. Also by-product known as furan compounds were producted from paper and it were dissolved within insulating oil. In this paper accelerating aging cell was aged during 60 hours at 100, 150, 180 and $200^{\circ}C$, respectively, so evaluating the chemical characteristics of cellulose paper by thermal. An it were performed analysis such as tensile strength(TS), dissolved gas analysis(DGA) and high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC). Also for analyzing of correlation between insulating degradation characteristics, it was performed linear regression method as statistical treatment.

  • In this paper, we argued the possibility of the diagnostic technique for distribution transformers using the top oil temperature rising above the ambient temperature. The proposed diagnostic technique used the reference top oil temperature rising at rated current. We determined the emergency value of the transformer using the limitation of the top oil temperature rising and calculated the loss of life. The top oil temperature rises because of the load currents. In this point, the proposed diagnostic technique was explained. The proposed system measures the load current, top oil temperature and ambient temperature. With the diagnostic device, we tested the top oil temperature rising of t재 transformers. Then the loss of life was calculated by the top oil temperature.

  • In order to investigate the effect of base oil composition on the electronic insulating oil's performances, an experimental study has been conducted using different oils. Owing to their properties, like lower pour point and gas absorbing, naphthenic base oils are used more often than paraffmic base oils for the electronic insulating oil application. Naphthenic and paraffinic base oils are significantly different in their aromatic hydrocarbon content. In this paper, PXE(para xylyl ethane), LAB(linear alkylbenzene), C13 aromatic hydrocarbon mixture and C17 aromatic hydrocarbon mixture are investigated regarding their influence on insulating oil's performances. According to present study, breakdown voltage decreased with increasing aromatic lydrocarbon content in a deep dewaxed paraffmic base oil. However, any changing in the dissipation factor was not recognizable at small treated level. Furthermore, the volume resistance was not influenced by aromatic hydrocarbon content. The gassing tendency was found as a highly sensible property, changing with treating aromatic hydrocarbons. The higher benzene ring content in the hydrocarbon, the better gassing tendency.
