A solar array makes a Solar Array Regulator (SAR) for Low-Earth-Orbit satellite have different small signal characteristic. Therefore, an Average-Current-Mode (ACM) controller cannot control the BUCK-BOOST type SAR which operates in a current region of the solar array. In this paper, we present the Pseudo-Continuous Current Mode (PCCM) BUCK-BOOST Type SAR which can be controller by the ACM Controller. We explain the circuit operation of the PCCM BUCK-BOOST Type SAR, derive its small signal transfer function and design ACM Controller. Finally, we verify the ACM control of the PCCM BUCK-BOOST Type SAR by using a simulation.

Chang'e-3 consisting of a lunar lander and exploration rover was launched on December 1, 2013 aboard a Long March 3B rocket flying from Xichang space launch center. Chang'e-3 was inserted into the lunar orbit after about a 5-day transit to the Moon and landed on the targeted landing site after orbiting around the Moon for 8 days. The successful landing of the Chang'e-3 gives a lot of help to analyze the future needs of the subsystem technologies and to figure out the trajectory from launch to lunar landing as well as operation sequences in the development of Korean lunar exploration is scheduled. Therefore, the configuration and analysis of overall mission of Chang'e-3 is performed based on the public information from the press and website. As a result, overall mission trajectory is reconstructed by solving boundary condition and then estimating control variable. Visibility status and eclipse status also analyzes so communication and power charge condition is as good as to operate lunar lander. Mass budget of the lander is derived using ${\Delta}V$ according to specific impulse.
In advance of launch, simulated radiances of the Ocean Scanning Multispectral Imager (OSMI) will be very useful to guess the real imagery of OSMI and to prepare for data processing of OSMI. The data processing system for OSMI which is one of sensors aboard Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite (KOMPSAT) scheduled for launch in 1999 is developed based on the SeaWiFS Data Analysis System (SeaDAS). Simulation of radiances requires information on the spectral band, orbital and scanning characteristics of the OSMI and KOMPSAT spacecraft. This paper also describes a method to create simulated radiances of the OSMI over the oceans. Our method for constructing a simulated OSMI imagery is to propagate a KOMPSAT orbit over a field of Coastal Zone Color Scanner (CZCS) pigment concentrations and to use the values and atmospheric components for calculation of total radiances. A modified Brouwer-Lyddane model with drag was used for the realistic orbit prediction, the CZCS pigment concentrations were used to compute water-leaving radiances, and a variety of radiative transfer models were used to calculate atmospheric contributions to total radiances detected by OSMI. Imagery of the simulated OSMI radiances for 412, 443, 490, 555, 765, 865nm was obtained. As expected, water-leaving radiances were only a small fraction (below 10%) of total radiances and sun glint contaminations were observed near the solar declination. Therefore, atmospheric correction is critical in the calculation of pigment concentration from total radiances. Because the imagery near the sun's glitter pattern is virtually useless and must be discarded, more advanced data collection planning will be required to succeed in the mission of OSMI which is consistent monitoring of global oceans during three year mission lifetime.

For calibration of the non-uniformity characteristics of the space-borne infrared (IR) sensor, a black body system shall provide estimated representative surface temperature at various reference temperatures by using the limited number of temperature sensors. The black body system proposed in this study has an I/F flange integrated on the rear side of the black body for installation of the heat pipe to transfer the residual heat after the black body heat-up. This design allows for obtaining a circular symmetric thermal contour of black body with low surface temperature gradient, leading to much easier representative temperature estimation. Additionally, this provides mechanically stable thermal I/F under launch and on-orbit environmental loads, as well as allowing a fail safe design by using the two heat pipes. Also, a highly accurate temperature estimation is possible even if the temperature sensors are attached on the surface on the rear side of the black body. The effectiveness of the thermal design of the proposed black body has been verified through the on-orbit thermal analysis. Based on the results, the representative surface temperature was estimated according to the number and position of the temperature sensors.

KOMPSAT-5(KOrea Multi-Purpose SATellite-5) has a benefit of continuously conducting its mission in all weather and even night by loading SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) payload, which is different from optical sensor of KOMPSAT-2 satellite. During IOT(In-Orbit Test) periods, SAR image calibration should be conducted through ground target of which location and RCS is pre-determined. Differently from the conventional corner reflector, active transponder has a capability to change its internal transfer gain and delay, which allows active transponder to be shown in a pixel of SAR image with very high radiance and virtual location. In this paper, the development of active transponder is presented from design to I&T(Integration and Test).

In general, the pitch momentum biased system that induces inherently nutational motion in roll/yaw plane, has been adapted for geosynchronous communications satellites. This paper discusses the method of roll attitude control using yaw axis momentum management method for a low earth orbit(LEO) satellite which is a pitch momentum biased system equipped with only two reaction wheels. The robustness of wheel momentum management method with PI-controller is investigated comparing with wheel torque control method. The transfer function of roll/yaw axis momentum management system that is useful for attitude controller design is derived. The disturbance effect of roll/yaw axis momentum management system for attitude control is investigated to identify design parameters such as magnitude of momentum bias and to get the insight for controller design. As an example, the PID controller design result of momentum management system for roll/yaw axis control is provided and the simulation results are presented to provide further physical insight into the momentum management system.
Antenna pointing analysis for a geostationary satellite has been performed for using the NORAD Two-Line-Elements (TLE) converted from osculating Keplerian orbital elements. In order to check the possibility of the reception of the satellite signal, the antenna offset angles have been derived for the Communications, Ocean, and Meteorological Satellite (COMS) which carries out weekly East-West and North-South station-keeping maneuvers and twice a day thruster assisted momentum dumping. Throughout the analysis, it is shown that the use of converted NORAD TLE simplifies the antenna pointing related interfaces in satellite mission control system. For a highly eccentric transfer orbit cases, further analysis presents that the converted NORAD TLE from near apogee gives more favorable results.
This study presents the findings of the structural health monitoring and the real time system identification of one of the first large scale building instrumentations in Turkey for earthquake safety. Within this context, a thorough review of steps in the instrumentation, monitoring is presented and seismic performance evaluation of structures using both nonlinear pushover and nonlinear dynamic time history analysis is carried out. The sensor locations are determined using the optimal sensor placement techniques used in NASA for on orbit modal identification of large space structures. System identification is carried out via the stochastic subspace technique. The results of the study show that under ambient vibrations, stocky buildings can be substantially stiffer than what is predicted by the finite element models due to the presence of a large number of partitioning walls. However, in a severe earthquake, it will not be safe to rely on this resistance due to the fact that once the partitioning walls crack, the bare frame contributes to the lateral stiffness of the building alone. Consequently, the periods obtained from system identification will be closer to those obtained from the FE analysis. A technique to control the validity of the proportional damping assumption is employed that checks the presence of phase difference in displacements of different stories obtained from band pass filtered records and it is confirmed that the "proportional damping assumption" is valid for this structure. Two different techniques are implemented for identifying the influence of the soil structure interaction. The first technique uses the transfer function between the roof and the basement in both directions. The second technique uses a pre-whitening filter on the data obtained from both the basement and the roof. Subsequently the impulse response function is computed from the scaled cross correlation between the input and the output. The overall results showed that the structure will satisfy the life safety performance level in a future earthquake but some soil structure interaction effects should be expected in the North South direction.
This paper applied one of the well-known optimal control theory, namely, linear quadratic regulator(LQR), to the station-keeping maneuvers(SKM) for a geostationary satellite. The boundary conditions to transfer the system with a good accuracy at a terminal time were based upon the predicted orbital data which are created due to the Earth's non-uniform mass distribution's effect during 14 days and due to luni-solar effect during 28 days. Through the linearization of the nonlinear system equation with respect to reference orbit and the numerical integration of Riccati equation, the optimal trajectories and the corresponding control law have been obtained by using LQR. From the comparison of ${\Delta}V$ obtained by LQR with the ${\Delta}V$ obtained anatically by geometric method, Station Keeping Maneuvers(SKM) via LQR may provide comparable results to a real system. Furthermore it will demonstrate the possibility in fuel optimization and life extension of geostationary satellite.
