  • This paper proposes a novel circuit configuration realizing biquadratic voltage transfer functions using three CCIIs and six passive elements. The circuits realize high-pass, band-pass, low-pass, band-stop and all-pass functions by selecting input voltages. The circuit has low passive sensitivities and permits orthogonal adjustment of quality factor Q and cutoff angular frequency $\omega$$\sub$o/. The effects of non-ideal CCIIs on biquadratic transfer functions are also given.

  • Recently, efficient operation and practical management of power plants have become important issues in the nuclear industry. In particular, typical aging parameters such as stress and cumulative usage factor should be determined accurately for continued operation of a nuclear power plant beyond design life. However, most of the major components have been designed via conservative codes based on a 2-D concept, which do not take into account exact boundary conditions and asymmetric geometries. The present paper aims to suggest an effective fatigue evaluation methodology that uses a prototype of the integrated model and its transfer functions. The validity of the integrated 3-D Finite Element (FE) model was proven by comparing the analysis results of individual FE models. Also, mechanical and thermal transfer functions, known as Green's functions, were developed for the integrated model with the standard step input. Finally, the stresses estimated from the transfer functions were compared with those obtained from detailed 3-D FE analyses results at critical locations of the major components. The usefulness of the proposed fatigue evaluation methodology can be maximized by combining it with an on-line monitoring system, and this combination, will enhance the continued operations of old nuclear power plants.

  • For a detailed investigation of the dynamic behaviour of slender bridges under wind action especially the motion-induced fluid forces should be available not only for harmonic motions but also for more general ones. If linear transfer behaviour is assumed, the force-displacement relation for almost arbitrary motions can be handled in the frequency domain using aerodynamic transfer functions. In aerospace engineering as well as in bridge engineering, these functions are usually approximated by special kinds of complex-valued rational functions which depend on complex frequencies. The quality of this approximation is evaluated for several bridge cross sections in this article. It is shown that rational functions are for some sections scarcely suitable to realistically represent the transfer behaviour of motion-induced aerodynamic forces for arbitrarily complex frequencies.

  • A least-squares identification method is studied that estimates a finite number of coefficients in the series expansion of a transfer function, where the expansion is in terms of recently introduced generalized basis functions, We will expand and generalize the orthogonal functions as basis functions for dynamical system representations. To this end, use is made of balanced realizations as inner transfer functions. The orthogonal functions can be considered as generalizations of, for example, the pulse functions, Laguerre functions, and Kautz functions, and give rise to an alternative series expansion of rational transfer functions. We show that the Laplace transform of the expansion for some sets$\Psi_{\kappa}(Z)$ is equivalent to a series expansion . Techniques based on this result are presented for obtaining the coefficients $c_{n}$ as those of a series. One of their important properties is that, if chosen properly, they can substantially increase the speed of convergence of the series expansion. This leads to accurate approximate models with only a few coefficients to be estimated. The set of Kautz functions is discussed in detail and, using the power-series equivalence, the truncation error is obtained.

  • It has been pointed out in the literature that the Routh approximation method for order reduction has limitations in treating transfer functions with the denominator-numerator order difference not equal to one. The purpose of this paper is to present a new algorithm based on the Routh approximation method that can be applied to general rational transfer functions, yielding reduced models with arbitrary order.

  • In this paper is introduced a new method of constructing a grounded.ungrounded FDNR (Frequency Dependent Negative Resistance) pair. Open circuit village transfer functions of any order are readily realized using the pairs with RC elements and CGIC's whose admittance ronversion functions are proportional to s3. This method simplifies the realization of transfer functions of higher order, The transfer function of fifth order haying low- pass filter characteristics is realized by this method. The measured frequency characteristics show satisfactory results.

  • Perimeter load transfer functions were developed by an analysis of the static pile load test results of the 7 large diameter drilled shafts constructed in domestic areas. Using the pile axial load distributions obtained from the static pile load tests of large diameter drilled shafts, the unit skin frictions were analyzed and, based on unit skin friction test data, perimeter load transfer functions could be suggested. The load transfer distributions calculated by suggested functions and the load transfer functions obtained from the bi-directional pile load tests were compared. As a result, the 2 load transfer distributions were coincided, respectively.

  • The paper investigates three types of transfer function methods for detecting displacements of winding in a model transformer. To acquire these transfer functions, the measuring method of input voltage, current and its response is used in impulse method. The applied impulse voltages had three rising times, which were short rising time (less than 0.6 ${\mu}s$), medium rising time (about 0.8 ${\mu}s$) and long rising time (about 1 ${\mu}s$) in front waves. Every 10 measurements of voltage and current waves were averaged from 50 measurements of voltage and current waves. These transfer functions were tested in normal, 24mm elevated and 48mm elevated windings conditions and were analyzed with correlation coefficients and spectrum deviations. In the analysis, the results depend on the types of transfer functions and the rising times of input voltages.

  • A comparison between theoretical and measured transfer function, which relates structure-borne noise source level to underwater radiated noise, of a naval ship is presented in this study. Transfer functions are obtained by dividing far field underwater noise by the value of structure borne noise source levels below machinery mounts. In prediction, statistical energy analysis of the whole ship structure is used to get vibration levels of wetted hull plates below water line. Then, far field radiated noise is calculated by summing up contributions from each plates using vibration levels and radiation efficiencies. And 1/3-octave band underwater sound pressure at the distance of 1 m away from the hull were measured to get experimental transfer functions. The two transfer functions are compared to show resonable agreements in spite of the subtle physical differences between each other.

  • This paper probes into the influence of tire uniformity on tire's modal parameters with the method of experimental modal analysis. Two radial tires of the same kind with different uniformity level are taken to be tested at different exciting points and real modal parameters are abstracted. The differences of their modal parameters are presented. Then tire transfer functions are constructed with experimental modal parameters and ideal modal parameters respectively. It is found that the measured transfer functions of tire of good uniformity are closer to ideal transfer function than that of tire of bad uniformity. The study shows evident interrelation of experimental modal parameters and tire uniformity, and further study should be of great value.
