There is significant concern in the engineering community regarding the safety and effectiveness of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) strengthening of RC structures because of the potential for brittle debonding failures. In this paper, previous research programs conducted by other researchers were reviewed in terms of the debonding failure of FRP laminates externally attached to concrete. This review article also discusses the influences on bond strength and failure modes as well as the existing experimental research and developed equations. Based on the review, several important conclusions were re-emphasized, including the finding that the bond transfer strength is proportional to the concrete compressive strength; that there is a certain bond development length that has to be exceeded; and that thinner adhesive layers in fact lower the chances of a concrete-adhesive interface failure. It is also found that there exist uncertainty and inaccuracy in the available models when compared with the experimental data and inconsistency among the models. This demonstrates the need for continuing research and compilation of data on the topic of FRP's bond strength.
There is a growing need for the development and implementation of new methods for the rapid and cost-effective rehabilitation of deteriorating steel structural components to offset the drawbacks related to welding and/or bolting in the field. Carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites provide a potential alternative as externally bonded patches for strengthening and repair of metallic structural members for building and bridge systems. This paper describes results of an investigation of tensile and fatigue response of steel/CFRP joints simulating scenarios of strengthening and crack-patching. It is shown that appropriately designed schemes, even when fabricated with levels of inaccuracy as could be expected in the field, can provide significant strain relief and load transfer capability. A simplified elasto-plastic closed form solution for stress analysis is presented, and validated experimentally. It is shown that the bond development length remains constant in the linear range, whereas it increases as the adhesive is deformed plastically. Fatigue resistance is shown to be at least comparable with the requirements for welded cover plates without attendant decreases in stiffness and strength.

This paper presents the development of new anisotropic conductive adhesives with enhanced thermal conductivity for the wide use of adhesive flip chip technology with improved reliability under high current density condition. The continuing downscaling of structural profiles and increase in inter-connection density in flip chip packaging using ACAs has given rise to reliability problem under high current density. In detail, as the bump size is reduced, the current density through bump is also increased. This increased current density also causes new failure mechanism such as interface degradation due to inter-metallic compound formation and adhesive swelling due to high current stressing, especially in high current density interconnection, in which high junction temperature enhances such failure mechanism. Therefore, it is necessary for the ACA to become thermal transfer medium to improve the lifetime of ACA flip chip joint under high current stressing condition. We developed thermally conductive ACA of 0.63 W/m$\cdot$K thermal conductivity using the formulation incorporating $5 {\mu}m$ Ni and $0.2{\mu}m$ SiC-filled epoxy-bated binder system to achieve acceptable viscosity, curing property, and other thermo-mechanical properties such as low CTE and high modulus. The current carrying capability of ACA flip chip joints was improved up to 6.7 A by use of thermally conductive ACA compared to conventional ACA. Electrical reliability of thermally conductive ACA flip chip joint under current stressing condition was also improved showing stable electrical conductivity of flip chip joints. The high current carrying capability and improved electrical reliability of thermally conductive ACA flip chip joint under current stressing test is mainly due to the effective heat dissipation by thermally conductive adhesive around Au stud bumps/ACA/PCB pads structure.
A new composite tube connection method called the pre-tightened teeth connection technique is proposed to improve the composite tube connection efficiency. This paper first introduces the manufacturing process of the proposed technique. It then outlines how the mechanical properties of this technology were tested using four test groups. The factors that influence the load-bearing capacity and damage model of the connection were analyzed, and finally, the transfer load mechanism was investigated. The following conclusions can be obtained from the research results. (1) The new technique improves the compressive connection efficiency by a maximum of 79%, with the efficiency exceeding that of adhesive connections of the same thickness. (2) Changing the depth of teeth results in two types of damage: local compressive damage and shear damage. The bearing capacity can be improved by increasing the depth, length, and number of teeth as well as the pre-tightening force. (3) The capacity of the technique to transfer high loads is a result of both the relatively high interlaminar shear strength of the pultruded composite and the interlaminar shear strength increase provided by the pre-tightening force. The proposed technique shows favorable mechanical properties, and therefore, it can be extensively applied in the engineering field.

The floor material is known as the most influential emission source of the residential building, because most floor material is made of wood compound and adhesive like a plywood flooring. Moreover, floor heating system keeps the inside temperature of the material high. As the emission of hazardous chemical compound from the construction material is influenced by many factors, it is necessary to analyze the emission characteristics of the floor material to improve IAQ. In this study, numerical analysis is performed to investigate the emission characteristics of the floor material affected by several factors such as temperature, air exchange rate, initial concentration, and internal diffusion coefficient. A simulation program is also written based on the mass transfer theory. The simulation results show that there is some level of difference on the TVOC concentration when each of the factors is variable.

Polyurethane(PU) materials have been generally used in the automobile, paint, furniture, adhesive, and textile industries. The use of Waterborne PU was motivated form the environmental point of view, i.e. reduction of solvent emissions into the atmosphere(volatile organic compounds, VOC)[1]. Generally speaking, phase change materials (PCM) have the capability of absorbing or releasing thermal energy to reduce or eliminate heat transfer at the temperature range of the particular temperature stabilizing material[2]. It is necessary for the new material and construction concept to make up for weak point which related to high durability and finish ability to solve exposure limit of exist construction method. This paper is deal with performance test(tier load, anti abrasion, anti impact, permeability, bond test) compositive using for water reacting soft urethane and rigid urethane to improve the exist problem which are crack movement, adhesive on the wet surface, impact and abrasion by tier load. It is getting decreasing demage compare with other exist materials after test by transfer load, movement and impact.
To study mechanical properties of fiberglass reinforced wood-based composite (FRWC), fiberglass with a diameter of $20{\mu}m$ was selected to prepare test specimens. Mechanical properties of fiberglass reinforced wood-based composite were determined by three-point-bending test while its microstructure was characterizes by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results showed that mechanical properties of fiberglass reinforced wood-based composite were superior to that of the wood fiberboard based on the contrasting mechanical curves and the analysis of fracture mechanism. It is believed that the material design with this "sandwich" structure brings a unique buffering capacity of fiberglass into play in the composites. So the specimen did not produce a sudden fracture failure at high level of applied loads because it had a bearing ability. The SEM analysis showed that the working strength of PVAc adhesive was high; under a bearing force, it could properly transfer a load. In addition, glass fiber mesh and wood fiber board combined well.
We prepared polyester-polyamines to improve the effect of carbon black dispersibility for use in thermal transfer ink, and synthesized polymeric dispersing agents by two-step reactions. In the first step, we made polyester by polycondensing 1,6-hexanediol and adipic acid. The resulting polymers had carboxylic acid, which was linked with polyamine via an acid-base reaction. We then characterized the polyester-polyamine structure by NMR spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). We also determined the basic characterizations such as total acid numbers (TAN) (5.0-67.5 mgKOH/g), hydroxyl values (27.1-67.5 mgKOH/g), and molar masses ($M_n=1.6-8.4kg\;mol^{-1}$) for the polyester and total base numbers (TBN) (15.3-57.1 mgKOH/g), hydroxyl values (33.0-79.8 mgKOH/g), and nitrogen contents (1.02-3.48%) for the polyester-polyamine polymers. We thus prepared thermal transfer ink using carbon blacks and the polyester-polyamine dispersing agents, and evaluated the resulting mixtures for printability, adhesive force, storage stability, ink appearance, ink gloss, and processability. These mixtures showed significant dispersibility for carbon black in the ink. Thus, we concluded that the dispersibility of the polymeric materials depended on the polyamine structure and the hydrophilicity-hydrophobicity distribution of the polymeric dispersants.

In the present study, the distribution of glass particles inside 10 patrol cars of Chungnam Province has been studied. The target seats were front seats (driver’s seat, passenger’s seat) and the back seat. The target areas were the bottom of the seat (seat contacting buttocks, back of the seat, and the corner of the seat (the bottom and back attached part)). The target areas were tape lifted with an adhesive tape. The glass particles adhering to the adhesive tape were examined and counted under a stereomicroscope. The total number of glass particles found was 679. Among them, 471 (driver’s seat 293, passenger seat 178) were collected from front seats, which are usually occupied by police officers. The majority of glass particles were under 0.49 mm size. The results show that the majority of glass particles can be found on the front seats, rather than on the back seat. There is a high probability that glass particles found on the front seat adhere to police officers, so that to get further transferred to the convict upon physical contact (secondary transfer). Thus, there is a risk of misinterpretation of the value of glass evidence in the course of forensic examinations. Hence, a separate method to prevent cross contamination has to be prepared by police authorities as soon as possible.
