Objectives: In this paper, a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma reactor was investigated for degrading the dye Rhodamine B (RhB) in aqueous solutions. Methods: The DBD plasma reactor system in this study consisted of a plasma component [titanium discharge (inner), ground (outer) electrode and quartz dielectric tube], power source, and gas supply. The effects of various parameters such as first voltage (input power), gas flow rate, second voltage (output power), conductivity and pH were investigated. Results: Experimental results showed that a 99% aqueous solution of 20 mg/l Rhodamine B is decolorized following an eleven minute plasma treatment. When comparing the performance of electrolysis and plasma treatment, the RhB degradation of the plasma process was higher that of the electrolysis. The optimum first voltage and air flow rate were 160 V (voltage of trans is 15 kV) and 3 l/min, respectively. With increased second voltage (4 kV to 15 kV), RhB degradation was increased. The higher the pH and the lower conductivity, the more Rhodamine B degradation was observed. Conclusions: OH radical generation of dielectric plasma process was identified by degradation of N, N-dimethyl-4-nitrosoaniline (RNO, indicator of OH radical generation). It was observed that the effect of UV light, which was generated as streamer discharge, on Rhodamine B degradation was not high. Rhodamine B removal was influenced by real second voltage regardless of initial first and second voltage. The effects of pH and conductivity were not high on the Rhodamine B degradation.

A 40 Gb/s transimpedance amplifier IC was designed and fabricated with a InP/InGaAs HBTs technology. In this study, we interconnect 40Gbps trans impedance amplifier IC to a duroid substrate by a flip chip bonding instead of conventional wire bonding for interconnection. For flip chip bonding, we developed fine pitch bump with the $70{\mu}m$ diameter and $150{\mu}m$ pitch using WLP process. To study the effect of WLP, electrical performance was measured and analyzed in wafer and package module using WLP. The Small signal gains in wafer and package module were 7.24 dB and 6.93dB respectively. The difference of small signal gain in wafer and package module was 0.3dB. This small difference of gain is due to the short interconnection length by bump. The characteristics of return loss was under -10dB in both wafer and module. So, WLP process can be used for millimeter wave GaAs MMIC with the fine pitch pad and duroid substrate can be used in flip chip bonding process.

Antioxidant activity is important for reducing oxidative stress that causes various metabolic disorders. Metabolic disorders are highly related to loss of productivity in livestock. Therefore, development of effective antioxidant compounds originating from plants is important for organic agriculture. Phenolic compounds in edible plants are regarded as major components relevant to antioxidant activity. The present study investigated the changes in antioxidant activity and phenolic compound profiles of Aronia (Aronia meloncarpa) by fermentation using different strains of Leuconostoc mesenteroides. A total of 5 strains of L. mesenteroides were used as starter cultures and their ${\beta}$-glucosidase activities were measured. A total of 6 experiment runs were prepared, one for control (uninoculated) and the others (inoculated) for treatments. For biological activity, antioxidant and antibacterial activities were measured. For phenolic compound profiling, TLC and HPLC analysis were performed. The strains of KACC12313 and KACC12315 showed greater enzyme activity than others. Treatment with KCCM35046 showed strong and broad antibacterial activity against to Listeria monocytogenes. Treatments with KCCM35046 and KACC12315 showed the highest total polyphenol content. The highest antioxidant activity was found in KACC12315 treatment. No remarkable alteration was found in thin layer chromatography (TLC) analysis. In phenolic compound profiling analysis, KCCM35046 showed notable alteration in compound area ratio compared to others and also showed the highest caffeic acid content. In chlorogenic acid, treatments with KCCM35046 and KACC12315 showed great content than others. Treatment with KACC12315 showed the greatest content of trans-ferulic acid. As a result of relative performance indexing analysis, L. mesenteroides KCCM35046 and KACC12315 were selected as the best strain for the fermentation of Aronia.

Effects of powdered activated carbon impregnated by iron oxide nano particle (Impregnated PAC) on the microfiltration (MF) membrane system performance in NOM removal from water were investigated in this study. A fluidized bed column was employed as a pretreatment of MF membrane process. The Impregnated PAC bed was stably maintained at an upflow rate of 63 m/d without leakage of the Impregnated PAC particles, which provided a contact time of 29 minutes. A magnetic ring at the upper part of the column could effectively hold the overflowing discrete particles. The Impregnated PAC column demonstrated a significant enhancement in the MF membrane performance in terms of fouling prevention and natural organic matter (NOM) removal. Trans-membrane pressure of the MF membrane increased to 41 kPa in 98 hours of operation, while it could be maintained at 12 kPa with the Impregnated PAC pretreatment. Removal of NOM determined by dissolved organic carbon and UV254 was also enhanced from 46% and 51% to 75% and 84%, respectively, by the pretreatment. It was found that the Impregnated PAC effectively removed a wide range of different molecular-sized organic compounds from size exclusion analysis.
The different social reflections about the benefits and the potential risks of genetically modified (GM) crops have evolved with .different reactions in different countries. Many countries including Korea are working toward setting down new guidelines. Korea requires companies to label all food that contains more than 3% GM ingredients. One of the rapid and convenient detection methods of GM ingredients is amplification of the introduced DNAs by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Many PCR kits for this purpose are commercially available. The objective of this study was to evaluate performance of commercialized GM crop detection kits. The results showed that 6 out of 15 kits tested did not meet the requirements even purposed by the manufacturers themselves in terms of stability, reproducibility, and detection limits, suggesting a potential quality control problem in their design stage or production line. The evaluation also suggests that, although the duplex and triplex detection kits allowed unambiguous detection in a single PCR reaction, the monoplex detection kits were the most sensitive to the detection of GM ingredients. The detection limits also differ between soybean and corn. Results from this study will be useful in the development of sound qualitative tracking systems of GM ingredients for monitoring throughout the cultivation of GM crops, their trans-boundary movement, and food production using GM grains as well as for complying with government guidelines associated with GM crops.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of newly developed Large Pore Micro-Filtration (LPMF) membrane in Lab size for the application of water treatment, and to find its problems with solutions. The out-to-inside filtration hollow fiber LPMF membrane of which average pore size was $5{\mu}m$ was used at this study and its material was the PET braid reinforced PVDF. Filtration tests were done through gravity with 30 cm water head difference or pressure below 1.5 bar, and the backwash was done instantaneously with the filtrate after pressurizing it to about 4 bar. The water flux of the LPMF membrane with 0.2 bar TMP (Trans Membrane Pressure) was 2 times higher than $0.4{\mu}m$ MF membrane with $0.05{\mu}m$ UF filtrate of the tap water and it was measured also with 20~30 cm water head difference which showed over 800 LMH at 30 cm water head difference. And Time-To-Filter (TTF) was performed by using $5{\mu}m$ filter paper to optimize coagulants and dosage which enhanced filtrate's turbidity and stabilized filtration flux. When the LPMF was operated with 30 cm gravity with very high dose of inorganic coagulants, the flux was maintained over 80 LMH with 93.5~99.5% turbidity removal. Especially, the filtration was maintained stably in the flux and about 97% of the recovery rate by instantaneous pressurized backwash with about 4 bar of the filtrate when the packing density was about 19%. But there was instability in filtration, since the TMP was continuously going up by inefficient backwash when the packing density was 43%.
The mite-control activities of materials obtained from Pelargonium graveolens oil against Dermatophagoides farinae and D. pteronyssinus were examined using an impregnated fabric disk bioassay and were compared with those shown by commercial benzyl benzoate and N,N-diethyl-m-toluamide (DEET). Purification of the biologically active constituents from P. graveolens oil was done by silica gel chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography. The structures of the active components were analyzed by EI/MS, $^{1}H$-NMR, $^{13}C$-NMR, $^{1}H-^{13}C$ COSY-NMR, and DEPT-NMR spectra, and were identified as geraniol ($C_{10}H_{18}O$, MW 154.25, trans-3,7-dimethyl-2,6-octadien-l-ol) and $\beta$-citronellol ($C_{10}H_{20}O$, MW 156.27, 3,7-dimethyl-6-octen-l-o1). Based on the $LD_{50}$ values, the most toxic compound was geraniol (0.26${\mu}g/cm^{2}$), followed by $\beta$-citronellol (0.28${\mu}g/cm^{2}$), benzyl benzoate (10.03${\mu}g/cm^{2}$), and DEET (37.12${\mu}g/cm^{2}$) against D. farillae. In the case of D. pteronyssinus, geraniol (0.28${\mu}g/cm^{2}$) was the most toxic, followed by $\beta$-citronellol (0.29${\mu}g/cm^{2}$), benzyl benzoate (9.58${\mu}g/cm^{2}$), and DEET (18.23${\mu}g/cm^{2}$). These results suggest that D. farinae and D. pteronyssinus may be controlled more effectively by the application of geraniol and $\beta$-citronellol than benzyl benzoate and DEET. Furthermore, geraniol and $\beta$-citronellol isolated from P. graveolens could be useful for managing populations of D. farinae and D. pterollyssinus.

This work proposes a calibration-free 14b 70MS/s 0.13um CMOS ADC for high-performance integrated systems such as WLAN and high-definition video systems simultaneously requiring high resolution, low power, and small size at high speed. The proposed ADC employs signal insensitive 3-D fully symmetric layout techniques in two MDACs for high matching accuracy without any calibration. A three-stage pipeline architecture minimizes power consumption and chip area at the target resolution and sampling rate. The input SHA with a controlled trans-conductance ratio of two amplifier stages simultaneously achieves high gain and high phase margin with gate-bootstrapped sampling switches for 14b input accuracy at the Nyquist frequency. A back-end sub-ranging flash ADC with open-loop offset cancellation and interpolation achieves 6b accuracy at 70MS/s. Low-noise current and voltage references are employed on chip with optional off-chip reference voltages. The prototype ADC implemented in a 0.13um CMOS is based on a 0.35um minimum channel length for 2.5V applications. The measured DNL and INL are within 0.65LSB and l.80LSB, respectively. The prototype ADC shows maximum SNDR and SFDR of 66dB and 81dB and a power consumption of 235mW at 70MS/s. The active die area is $3.3mm^2$.

The historical development of the agriculture in Korea is observed and the future of Korean agriculture is suggested with present situation in order to recommend a direction of policy in agricultural mechanization. 2. A factor analysis of agricultural mechanization The needs of agricultural mechanization in the view of both national need and the armer's desire under the present situation are analyzed with data from the various sources. The researcher found that the agricultural mechanization is badly needed to develop prospective Korean agriculture to future. 3. The direction of agricultural mechanization. It can be said that the position of agriculture in the national economy plays a very important role. This importance should not be ignored by the Politicians in their process of developing long range economy plan. The agricultural mechanization for the modernized Korean agriculture should be directed to increase the most effective results with minimize the least sacrifice. The merry tiller is recommended to the main agricultural machinery in Korea in order to meet its small farming operation un-its(or farm size). Tractor is recommended in the plain area for the crop cultivation. The cooperative cultivation for rice and the upland crops will be developed in the plain area. Tractor, therefore, is recommended for the main agricultural machinery in these areas. Either tractor or merry tiller is recommended to the orchard area by its operating size of the orchard. The researcher also disoussed about the development of animal husbandry on the farm with increasing the farm size in order to develop meadow and pasture nuder the consideration of both the improvement of food consumption and the comprehensive development of national resources. 4.
