  • The construction of concrete slab track system is increased because the system has advantages which are maintenance free and so on, the other side, the system has weak points such as increase of the cost of the early stage construction. Recently, railway environment is issued including noise. Therefore, measures which are to mitigate noise on slab tracks were introduced, however, it is found that efficiency of noise reduction is low because noise problem is still issued. In this study, to study noise characteristics on concrete tracks we measured noise by site types. Finally the results have done comparative analysis.

  • Rockfall has long been a serious problem, especially derailment of train running on the track in mountainous regions. The purpose of this study is to suggest the reasonable items of check and evaluation to railroad rock slopes for safe maintenance and management of rockfall-worried railroad sites. Therefore, main and sub items were extracted from the survey of foreign and other authorities' cases and evaluation table (temporary) composed of items classified by important degree was suggested. To evaluate the availability and reasonability of items, statistical analysis based on field investigation namely SMR(Slope Mass Rating) and explanation values was carried.

  • Object of this paper are numerical and experimental evaluation of Korean Standard Train Loading(L-loading scheme) with respect to UIC's and real train loading, quantitative formulation of the real train types in South Korea. These objects are require to changing environment of train operation, for example, high density traffic and gradual train speed increase. For the reasonable repair, reinforcement and rehabilitation of existing railway infrastructures, statistical analysis of the loading effect during the long term experiment in conventional lines have to conduct. Statistical quantitative formulation of the loading case need to consistency numerical evaluation of the railway safety. Hereafter, those results will be core technical data for the economy enhancement of international line construction. Further, these results are using to make track maintenance criterions for transcontinental, speed up railway and revision of standard train leading diagram.

  • This paper shows the analysis of the inductive power transfer system in conjunction with series resonant converter operating variable high frequency. Of particular interest is the sensitivity of the complete system to variations in operational frequency and parameters. In inductive power transfer system, electrical power is transferred from a primary winding in the form of a coil or track, to one or more isolated pick-up coils that may relative to the primary. The ability to transmit power without contact enables high reliability and easy maintenance that allows inductive power transfer system to be implemented in hostile environments. This technology has found application in many fields such as electric vehicles, PRT(Personal Rapid Transit) etc. The coupling between the primary and secondary is then presented to include the effects of parameter and operational frequency variation.

  • The concurrent engineering technologies have been broadly used in the field of the design, testing, manufacturing and maintenance works to reduce development time and costs. For this purpose, many design environments with the product data management system, the virtual engineering system and web database system are developed. In this research, we developed the driving simulator of the KTX(Korea Train Express) as a basic study for building the concurrent engineering design environment of rolling stock. The virtual track was developed from the Seoul to the Busan and the Daejeon to Mockpo to generate immersible driving environment. Also. fault generation systems were developed to educate drivers of the KTX. We expect to reduce the time and costs of newly developed rolling stock using the design environment developed in the research.

  • Maintenance and improvement of the graph connectivity is very important for decentralized multi-agent systems. Although the CBBA (Consensus-Based Bundle Algorithm) guarantees suboptimal performance and bounded convergence time, it is only valid for connected graphs. In this study, we apply a decentralized estimation procedure that allows each agent to track the algebraic connectivity of a time-varying graph. Based on this estimation, we design a decentralized gradient controller to maintain the graph connectivity while agents are traveling to perform assigned tasks. Simulation result for fully-actuated first-order agents that move in a 2-D plane are presented.

  • Presently metro in our county has higher rate of passengers as a public transportation of urban area than other transportations. And road is under very restrictive condition to be expanded in many aspects because the streets are completely choked. Therefore increase of capacity in metro and reduction of headway has been seriously required and utmost efforts has been taken by related fields to meet the requirements. The concept of CBTC system came out from this background. CBTC system can be implemented to detect the train location without using the track circuits. It has many advantages in aspects of signalling equipments build-up and maintenance. This study investigated examples of radio communication system and applicable standard norms in other countries. And it also reviewed the suggestion for the establishment of radio frequency and radio network to be considered for application train control system by radio under Korean metro environment.

  • During the passage of the train, the railway bridge undergoes vibration and noise. The noise of railway bridge can be occurred from various sources. The wheel-rail contact, noise from machinery parts, structural-borne noise, pantagraph noise and aerodynamic noise of the train work in combination. Running train is one of the most important factors for railway bridge vibration. The repeated forces with equidistant axles cause the magnification of dynamic responses which relates with maintenance of the track structure and structure-borne noises. The noise problem is one of the most important issues in services of light rail transit system which usually passes through towns. In the present study, The vibration and noise of the LRT bridge will be investigated with utilizing dynamics responses from moving train as input data for noise analysis.

The Evaluation of Safety and Remaining Life on Fracture and Fatigue in Rail Steel (철도레일의 파괴 및 피로에 대한 안전도평가 및 잔류수명계산)

  • The fatigue failure of rail is a principal source of derailment accidents. The reduction of fatigue failures can be achieved by Intensive track maintenance and periodic safety assessments for the railway. For the safety assessments, it is required to have more accurate knowledge for fatigue behavior such as the crack initiation, propagation, crack growth rate and the remaining service life in rail. In this paper, the mean stress effects for the fatigue behavior of rail steel are studied. For this study, the fatigue test is conducted and some equations for fatigue evaluation are applied and compared. From the results, we can see that the fatigue crack growth rate is the more increased as the men stress Is the more increased, the mean stress effect is represented well by the combination of stress intensity factor range and maximum stress intensity factor and Crooker and Range's equation represented by ${\Delta}K, K_{max}$ is the best fit for fatigue evaluation and safety assessment of rail.
