  • Recently, due to advances in information technologies, the trend of tour types has been changing from package tour to independent tour. Independent tour is a tour which a traveler collect airplane ticket, travel destinations, sightseeing time, transport, lodging and plan traveling schedules by oneself. But the traveler has many difficulties for predicting tour schedules, due to lack of adequate information of travel destinations. In this study, traveling schedule prediction method which to minimize the cumulative fatigue of tourist for use of unnecessary transport is proposed using travelling salesman problem algorithm. It is considered moving time between sightseeing, sightseeing time on destination and traveling time for a day.

  • This study develops an agent-based simulation model to evaluate tourist information systems under ubiquitous environment. In this study, individual tourist's activity chaining behavior is formulated as a utility maximization problem. The underlying assumption of the model is that tourists increase their activities within their time and budget constraints to maximize their utilities. The model seeks individual's optimal tour schedule by solving Prize-Collecting Multiple-Day Traveling Salesman Problem(PC MD TSP). The simulation-based evaluation framework allows investigating individual utility gains by their information type and the total expenditure at each tour attractions. The real-time tour activity scheduling system enables tourists to optimize their tour activities by minimizing their time loss and maximizing their opportunity to use high utility facilities.

  • The purpose of this study is to review the advanced researches of the library tour, to extract the educational properties of library tour, and to propose the pedagogical meanings of library tour by reinterpreting the library tour based on pedagogical theories and foundations. As the result of this study, the extracted educational properties of library tour are like these: experience, media, explanation, interpretation, interaction. The educational properties are extracted through the related theories and researches. The pedagogical foundations based on the educational properties of library tour are like these: 1) John Dewey's experience theory. 2) Dale & Dwyer's teaching & learning media theories. 3) Bruner's educational theory. It's expected that this study will help the education librarians to plan, develop, and implement the face to face or virtual library tour program based on the pedagogical foundations for the effective library education.

  • This study focused on offering a helpful information for the touring. To develop a tour route guidance tool, it is needed to use a GIS function, which can suggest a possible shortest path based on time and distance. A Traveling salesman problem algorithm, which was developed to solve multi destination problem in network analysis, was used to implement a tour guidance system. This system was developed using ArcObjects programming components within ArcGIS 8.3. Jeju city was selected for the case study to apply the tool and to test the effectiveness of it. This study demonstrated that this tool was considerably effective for finding a probable optimum tour path in the following aspects. First, it can help tourists to select several attractions from numerous tour sites in an area given limited time. Second, tourist can manage time efficiently by organizing their tour courses on the basis of the tool. Third, tourists can reduce the uncertainties that may happen under unexpected situations in unfamiliar places by obtaining specific spatial information using the tool. Fourth, the Graphic User Interface of the tool can be easily used to obtain visual information of spatial data.

  • We introduce a machine learning-based web application to help travel agents plan a package tour schedule. K-nearest neighbor (KNN) classification predicts the optimal tourists' dwelling time based on a variety of information to automatically generate a convenient tour schedule. A database collected in collaboration with an established travel agency is fed into the KNN algorithm implemented in the Python language, and the predicted dwelling times are sent to the web application via a RESTful application programming interface provided by the Flask framework. The web application displays a page in which the agents can configure the initial data and predict the optimal dwelling time and automatically update the tour schedule. After conducting a performance evaluation by simulating a scenario on a computer running the Windows operating system, the average response time was 1.762 s, and the prediction consistency was 100% over 100 iterations.

  • Mobile network evolution and development of USN technologies introduce new business model based on context awareness. Cellular operators provide friend finding service using cell based location information and telematics service using GPS location information. Recently cellular operators provide yellow page service based cell based location information. In this paper, we develop mobile tour application on WIPI platform based on location information. Mobile tour information services provide the best information based on context awareness using user location information from LBSP (Location Based Service Platform), season, weather conditions, time from Web server, and personal preference information stored in database. Mobile tour information service application is developed on WIPI platform.

  • The global impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on education has resulted in the near-complete closure of schools, early childhood education and care (ECEC) facilities, universities, and colleges. To help the educational system with social distancing during this pandemic, in this paper the creation of a simple 3D virtual tour will be of a great contribution. This web cyber tour will be program with JavaScript programming language. The development of this web cyber tour is to help the students and staffs to have access to the university infrastructure at a faraway distance during this difficult moment of the pandemic. The drone and matterport are the two devices used in the realization of this website tour. As a result, Users will be able to view a 3D model of the university building (drone) as well as a real-time tour of its inside (matterport) before uploading the model for real-time display by the help of this website tour. Since the users can enjoy the 3D model of the university infrastructure with all angles at a far distance through the website, it will solve the problem of Covid-19 infection in the university. It will also provide students who cannot be present on-site, with detailed information about the campus.

  • Purpose: Social media influencers (SMIs) have become significant sources of information influencing their followers' purchase intentions; few studies have been published on the effect of the number of followers and package tour prices on followers' purchase intention within the Vietnam travel industry utilizing naïve theories. This study examined the relationship between the number of followers and purchase intention and tested the moderating role of package tour price. Research Design, data and methodology: A 2 (number of followers: high vs. medium) × 2 (package tour price: high vs. low) between-subjects factorial design was used. 395 Vietnamese students (114 men, 281 women; Mage = 19.99, SDage = 1.25) from Thuongmai University participated in the study. ANOVA and PROCESS MARCO were used to test hypotheses. Results: Findings indicate that participants show a higher purchase intention for SMIs with a higher number of followers than those with a medium one. When the package tour price is high, participants with a medium number of followers show a greater purchase intention than those with a high one. Conclusion: This recommendsthat tourism managers collaborate with SMIs with a high number of followers when the package tour price is low and with SMIs with medium ones when the package tour price is high.

  • A college campus tour is a great opportunity to promote the school environment, facilities and history to visitors or prospective students. Along with the population of smart phones and the advancement of information and communication technologies, many universities have recently provided mobile applications for campus tour, and some are starting to utilize augmented reality technology. However, most of the existing campus tour augmented reality systems tended to present a description-oriented campus tour guide. Their main focus is simply to provide information about the campus's main buildings or symbols. This study focuses on self-guided tours of the campus through games making new students and visitors to get familiar with the campus in a more natural and intuitive way. In this paper we present the design and development of a location-based mobile augmented reality treasure hunt game to enhance the user experience.
