Lymph Node Ratio is an Independent Prognostic Factor in Node Positive Rectal Cancer Patients Treated with Preoperative Chemoradiotherapy Followed by Curative Resection

  • Background: The lymph node ratio (LNR) has been shown to be an important prognostic factor for colorectal cancer. However, studies focusing on the prognostic impact of LNR in rectal cancer patients who received neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (CRT) followed by curative resection have been limited. The aim of this study was to investigate LNR in rectal cancer patients who received neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (CRT) followed by curative resection. Materials and Methods: A total of 131 consecutive rectal cancer patients who underwent neoadjuvant CRT and total mesorectal excision were included in this study. Patients were divided into two groups according to the LNR (${\leq}0.2$ [n=86], >0.2 [n=45]) to evaluate the prognostic effect on overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS). Results: The median number of retrieved and metastatic lymph node (LN) was 14 (range 1-48) and 2 (range 1-10), respectively. The median LNR was 0.154 (range 0.04-1.0). In multivariate analysis, LNR was shown to be an independent prognostic factor for both overall survival (hazard ratio[HR]=3.778; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.741-8.198; p=0.001) and disease-free survival (HR=3.637; 95%CI 1.838-7.195; p<0.001). Increased LNR was significantly associated with worse OS and DFS in patients with <12 harvested LNs, and as well as in those ${\geq}12$ harvested LNs (p<0.05). In addition, LNR had a prognostic impact on both OS and DFS in patients with N1 staging (p<0.001). Conclusions: LNR is an independent prognostic factor in ypN-positive rectal cancer patients, both in patients with <12 harvested LNs, and as well as in those ${\geq}12$ harvested LNs. LNR provides better prognostic value than pN staging. Therefore, it should be used as an additional prognostic indicator in ypN-positive rectal cancer patients.

Pine Forest Soil Characteristics and Major Soil Impact Factors for Natural Regeneration

  • This study was conducted to identify characteristics of domestic pine forest soils and to elucidate major soil influencing factors for natural regeneration. We analyzed the physico-chemical characteristics of the soil samples collected from 23 pine forests and confirmed the similar results with the forest soil characteristics. Soil pH, organic matter content, total nitrogen, exchangeable Ca, silt content, and exchangeable Al were selected as the major soil factors among the exposed soils through 10 days of pine seedlings exposure and cultivation experiments and statistical analysis. Multiple regression analysis showed that soil pH had a positive effect on specific root length (SRL) of red pine seedlings and exchangeable Al was a significant factor affecting negative change in SRL. Taken together, the reduction of exchangeable Al by soil pH adjustment would be helpful for natural regeneration by restoring the forest and improving the fine root and root integrity of pine seedlings. Therefore, soil pH and exchangeable Al could be recommended as a major soil factor to be carefully considered in the monitoring and management of soil in pine forests that need to be renewed in the future.

The Effectiveness of CRM Approach in Improving the Profitability of Korea Professional Baseball Industry Measured by Entropy of ID3 Decision Tree Algorithm

  • Korea professional baseball industry has grown to take the lion's share of the domestic sports industry, but still does not make break even. The purpose of this study is to examine the financial impact of adopting the Customer Relation Management (CRM) approach on the profitability of Korea professional baseball industry. We use a measuring tool called entropy used in ID3 decision tree algorithm. In the paper, we specify five the most important factors that affect spectator satisfaction based on the previous literature, perform survey analysis, calculate entropy values, and find the results. We predicted the change in revenues when we adopt CRM by checking the spectators' willingness to pay more when the conditions of each factor are improved. We find that we can reap significant fruits of the effect of CRM introduction through enhancing 'game content factor' and 'game promotion factor' among the five factors. We also find that we can increase the revenues of domestic professional baseball teams to 2.4 times or 2.1 times the current level if we manage intensively those two factors respectively. It is very surprising to see that the improvement in total revenues makes both ends meet for domestic professional baseball teams. This clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of CRM approach in improving the profitability of organizations.

  • Based on the self-congruity theory, this study investigated how congruity between multi-brand store image and consumers' self-image affect store attributes and consumer responses. A total of 331 questionnaires were used to analyze data. The results of research were: 1) 'Sophistication' as the congruity factor between store image and consumers' self-image affected 'utility', 'atmosphere', and 'design' among store attribute factors. Also, 'sincerity' influenced 'utility' as the store attribute factor. 2) 'Atmosphere' as the store attribute factor positively influenced consumers' emotional responses, and 'utility' and 'design' factors positively influenced consumers' cognitive responses. 3) Consumers' emotional responses had a positive impact on consumers' cognitive responses; in addition, consumers' emotional and cognitive responses had positive impacts on consumers' behavioral responses. 4) A-Land indicated higher scores on 'sophistication', 'atmosphere', and 'design' factors than ABC Mart. ABC Mart had shown higher scores on 'ruggedness' and 'utility' factors than A-Land. This study provides practical implications to develop effective marketing strategies to manage multi-brand stores.

자기애 성향에 따른 외모에 대한 사회문화적 태도 및 의복추구혜택에 관한 연구 (A study on the sociocultural attitude toward appearance and pursuit of clothing benefits depending on narcissism)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in female college students' sociocultural attitude toward appearance and pursuit of clothing benefits according to their narcissism. Data collection was conducted through survey for female college students, and a total 221 questionnaires were used for data analyses. For analysis of data, frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, and one-way ANOVA were applied. The results were summarized as follows. First, the factor analysis on narcissism resulted in two dimensional structures: self-initiated and other-dependent narcissism. The respondents were categorized into four narcissism groups, such as compositive, self-initiated, other-dependent, and withdrawn narcissism groups. Second, the factor analysis on sociocultural attitude toward appearance resulted in two dimensional structures: internalization and awareness. Five dimensions of pursuit of clothing benefits were identified: individuality, self-expression, fashion, comfort, and social recognition pursuit. Third, there were significant differences among the categorized narcissism groups in sociocultural attitude toward appearance and pursuit of clothing benefits. The results confirm that narcissism has an impact on sociocultural attitude toward appearance and pursuit of clothing benefits. It is expected that this study provides insight for apparel makers or retailers to develop their marketing strategies.

A Study on the Management Efficiency Effect Factor of Korean Ocean Carriers

  • In this study, the current state of management efficiency of ocean carriers in Korea and the factors affecting them were analyzed. The purpose of this research is to enhance global competitiveness of ocean carriers by presenting suggestions that can improve management efficiency based on the analysis results. The measurement of management efficiency was made using the DEA model. The results of testing the adequacy of the input and output variables used are as follows. Appropriate inputs are total assets, cost of goods sold, charter expenses, sales and general management expenses, and interest expenses. Appropriate variables are sales, operating income, and operating cash flow. According to the analysis results of the DEA model by these variables, inefficient carriers (78%) are nearly four times more than efficient carriers(22%). However, container carriers have the most improved management efficiency compared to 2016 and 2017. According to the panel regression analysis, the charter rate has the greatest negative impact on efficiency (CRS), and the debt rate has a significant negative impact. Thus, it appears that reducing the charter size and the debt-to-sale rate facilitate improvement of the management efficiency of ocean carriers. Additionally, the pre-sales tax return rate, value added rate, total asset turnover rate, and the scale variable and interest coverage rate have a positive (+) effect. Thus ocean carriers should restore their global competitiveness by improving management efficiency by securing stable cargoes increasing sales profitability from the cost management perspective, increasing productivity, and enhancing the efficiency of their total assets through efficient fleet management.

요리직종의 기능경기대회 참가동기와 인식도 및 효과성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Participants Motives and Recognition, Effectiveness of the Cooking Skill Competition)

  • This article studied the motivational factor of participation skill competition and their effectiveness. This study was restricted to cooks within those who had participated in a cooking contest to allow measurement of participation and satisfaction. This thesis investigated 116 cooks by questionnaires from April 6, 2005 to April 23, 2005, of which 106 responses were used for statistical processing to perform this study First, from the motive of participation, 13 variables were analyzed into 3 factors such as the factor of social recognition, the factor of speciality, and the factor of self-development and self-realization. The factor as a motive of participating in skill competition has a significant effect on effectiveness. A total of three factors were extracted from Recognition consisting of 10 variables. Each factor was labeled as awareness of the competition, revision of test questions, and selection of the judges of the competition. Second, three factors were derived from 12 variables in association with the effect of the contest, including factors of contribution to industry development, technical and technological effect, and psychological effect. In addition, it was revealed that the motive of participating in skill competition had an significant impact on recognition. Third, the results of regression analysis demonstrated that factors relating to recognition of skill competition and participation motives significantly influence on the effect of the contest. One limitation of this study is that the Population of the survey was limited to those who had Participated in the contest. Thus, the findings of this study may not be generalizable for other cases. It is clear that further research is needed to collect more in-dept data from other similar competitions in an effort to extend the application of the present results to other studies.

프랜차이즈 베이커리 종사원의 직무특성, 직무만족, 이직의도 간의 영향관계 - 광주지역을 중심으로 - (The Impact of Job Characteristics and Job Satisfaction of Franchise Bakery Employees on Turnover - Focused on Gwangju -)

  • 본 연구에서는 프랜차이즈 베이커리 종사원의 직무특성이 직무만족과 이직의도에 미치는 영향 요인들과 그 요인을 이용한 앞으로의 활용방안을 제시하고자 한다. 총 300부의 설문지를 배포하여 불성실하게 응답한 21부의 설문지를 제외한 나머지 279부의 유효한 설문지를 실증연구에 사용되었다. 조사 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 통계 프로그램 AMOS, SPSS 18.0을 활용하여 빈도분석, 요인분석 및 신뢰도분석, 상관관계분석, 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과를 보면 직무특성에 대한 측정항목의 탐색적 요인분석 결과 3개 요인으로 KMO 값은 0.766, 총분산비율 67.905%, 직무만족에 대한 요인분석은 총분산비율 64.955%, KMO 값은 0.733으로 나타났다. 이직의도에 대한 요인분석은 총분산설명력 64.689%, KMO 값은 0.760으로 나타났다. 변수들 간의 상관관계가 다른 변수에 의해 설명되는 정도가 좋게 분석되었고, 유의확률이 0.000으로 나타나 전반적으로 변수들 간의 상관관계는 유의적이다. 따라서 직무특성에 따른 직무만족과 이직의도에 미치는 영향에 관한 가설은 부분 채택되었다.

고등학생들의 시스템 사고 측정을 위한 측정 도구 개발과 타당화 (An Instrument Development and Validation for Measuring High School Students' Systems Thinking)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 고등학생들의 시스템 사고 능력을 구성하는 하위 요인을 탐색하고, 시스템 사고 능력을 측정하기 위한 정량적인 검사도구의 개발과 타당화에 있다. 선행연구와 이론적 탐색을 통해 시스템 사고의 하위 요인을 시스템 사고, 정신모델, 공유비전, 개인숙련, 팀 학습으로 구성하였으며, 각 요인 당 6문항을 개발하여 전체 30문항의 5점 척도 예비문항을 작성하였고, 예비검사를 통해 20문항을 선정 본 검사를 구성하였다. 일반계 고등학생 260명을 대상으로 본 검사를 실시하였다. 예비검사 분석의 결과 제시된 5개 하위요인이 본 검사에서도 동일한 요인으로 분류되었다. 그리고 확인적 요인분석에서 5개 요인구조의 적합도를 분석해본 결과 수용할만한 모형으로 판단되었으며 적합도 수치도 모두 양호한 값을 보여주었다. 본 검사에서 사용한 20개 문항으로 구성된 고등학생들의 시스템 사고 측정 도구의 전체문항 신뢰도는 .840이었으며 각 하위 요인별 신뢰도는 .604~.723으로 신뢰로운 검사지로 나타났다. 이 연구가 더 낳은 성과를 얻기 위해서는 다양한 학교 급에 적용되도록 검사 도구를 표준화할 필요가 있으며 나아가 시스템 사고 수준에 따른 다양한 학습 프로그램의 개발 및 보급, 그리고 이 학생들에 대한 추후 연구가 이루어질 필요가 있다.

대한방사선종양학회지의 학술인용 변화 추이 및 학술 영향력 지수 개선을 위한 제안: 한국의학학술지 인용색인 자료 분석 (Citation Trend and Suggestions for Improvement of Impact Factor of Journal of Korean Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology)

  • 목 적: 최근 6년간 한국의학학술지 인용색인 정보(KoMCI)를 분석하여 대한방사선종양학회지의 학술 인용 추이를 알아보고 학술지 영향력 지표(IF) 개선방안을 찾아보고자 하였다. 대상과 방법: 2000년에서 2005년까지 KoMCI 자료에서 대한방사선종양학회지의 연간 게재 논문 수, 인용한 국내외 참고 문헌 수, 자체 및 타 학술지의 인용 빈도, 대한방사선종양학회지를 인용한 다른 국내 학술지 종류, IF 및 자체 학술지 인용을 제외한 영향력 지수(ZIF) 등의 변화를 알아보고, 이를 KoMCI 등재 국내 학술지 평균과 비교하여 학술 인용 색인 추이 변화 양상의 차이를 살펴보고 IF 개선을 위한 방안을 찾아보았다. 결 과: 연간 게재 논문 수의 감소는 국내 학술지 전반에 걸쳐 공통된 현상이었고, KoMCI 등재 국내 학술지 평균에서는 32%, 대한방사선종양학회지에서는 최대 38%의 감소 추세였다. 논문당 국내 논문 인용빈도는 KoMCI 학술지 평균치는 2.0편에 비해 조금 낮은 1.6편이었다. 대한방사선종양학회지의 논문당 전체 발간 논문에 대한 인용 빈도는 1.333으로 KoMCI 학술지 평균 1.694에 비해 낮았으나, 2000년의 1.000에 비해 20005년에는 1.670으로 67% 증가하였다. 논문당 자체 학술지 인용은 KoMCI 학술지 평균에서는 전체 인용빈도의 61%였으나, 대한방사선종양학회지에서는 72%로 조금 더 높았다. 6년간 대한방사선종양학회지의 IF값은 2000년의 0.144에서 2003년 0.107까지 감소 후 2005년에는 0.203으로 개선되었다. 자체 학술지 인용을 배제한 ZIF값은 2004년의 0.044를 제외하고 2000년의 0.038에서 2005년의 0.013으로 감소 경향이었다. 결 론: 대한방사선종양학회지의 IF는 점진적 개선되고 있으나, 매우 작은 인용빈도를 바탕으로 산출된 한계가 있다. 자체 학술지 인용을 보다 적극적으로 확대하고 타 학술지로부터의 인용증대를 위한 노력(교차인용 확대 및 영문 논문 게재 증가)들이 지속적인 학회지의 IF 개선에 필요하며, 이를 위해 학회 회원들의 학술지 IF 중요성 인식 및 개선에 대한 적극적인 홍보 노력이 요구된다.
