Analysis and development of the angular twist type torque-meter (비틀림각 검출방식을 이용한 토크미터의 해석과 개발)

  • In this study, the angular twist type torque-meter was designed and manufactured with STS 304 and fiber-reinforced composite materials to improve the dynamic properties of the existing torque-meter. From the Experimental and analytical results, it was found that the dynamic characteristics of co-cured bonded torque-meter rotating shaft were better than those of the adhesively and unreinforced torque-meter rotating shaft. For the torque-meter rotating shaft manufactured by co-cured bonded with the glass fiber-epoxy composite and with a stacking sequence of $[$\pm$30$^{\circ}$/STS304]_{2s}$, the natural frequency and the radial spring constant were increased by 64% and 137% compared to those of the unreinforced torque-meter rotating shaft.

  • Since a demand for an extensive range of earthmoving equipment like a hydraulic excavator with a capacity of 85tons has been asked in construction fields, a performance of its track drive unit has to be verified experimentally. Among the verification of the performances, a torque measurement is at issue, in which a torque meter is utilized widely. However, the very large scaled torque meter is necessary when a discharged torque from the track drive unit is increased significantly. In addition, the price for experimental set-up of a torque meter is too high due to its limitation of the geometry such as long length, and a break down in operation occurs frequently. In this study, to measure a high torque up to 200,000Nm, a new technique was proposed as an alternative of conventional measurement by using a torque meter. The new technique enables to measure the high torque stably in a compact space via a torque arm and two load cells. The experimental results showed a propriety of the proposed torque measuring technique for a track drive unit with very large capacity.

  • The control method of programmable dynamometer for overall test of machine is to load the reference torque which is computed from torque transducer into motor under test. But the torque information detected from torque transducer have a lot of noise when the load torque of meter is a small quantity or changing. Thus, torque transducer must have a low pass filter to detect a definite torque information. But The torque delay generated by filter with torque transducer occur a torque trouble for meter torque of programmable dynamometer. Therefore, this kind of system could not perform dynamic and nonlinear load. In this paper, the control method using the load torque observer without a measure for torque transducer is Proposed. The proposed system improved the problem of the torque measuring delay with torque transducer, and the load torque is estimated by the minimal order state observer based on the torque component of the vector control induction meter. Therefore, the torque controller is not affected by a load torque disturbance. To verify a superiority of the proposed control algorithm, the analysis for a root locus of a conventional control method and the proposed one, and simulation and experiment is performed. Therefore we hope to be extended in industrial application.

  • In this paper, a noncontact type torque meter using silicone rubber to measure the exact torque value and reduce a vibration and a noise, was developed. When planetary gear speed reducer runs, torque, RPM etc.. of motor change according to load or speed change. So, it needs a device to detect load's change or to diagnose the state of thewhole drive department by monitoring these result values. The noncontact type torque meter using silicone rubber that we're trying to develop this time is low-cost and can measure RPM and torque value simply. Also, it caculate a power using this value and indicate them on screen.

  • The driving torque acting on a rotatable disk of watthour meter is proportional to the effective power. The aim of this paper is to show how the driving torque on a disk can be measured by a LVDT transducer. This driving torque is obtained by the theoretical computation. To verify the computated result, the LVDT as torque transducer, was used. A comparison is made between computed and measured torques.

  • Planetary Speed Reducer consists of a sun gear, a planetary gear and a ring gear and if one element is fixed at this Speed Reducer, another elements operate to become a drive-axis and a subordination-axis respectively. Planetary Speed Reducer is frequently used for gear Speed Reducer because it has the advantage of having the high efficiency and getting the high Speed Reducer ratio in small space. However, it is difficult to know the current transmitted torque immediately during the use of Speed Reducer and so complicated equipment is installed in addition to protect the overload of system. The object of this paper is to design the Speed Reducer of torque- meter type that can know the torque transmitted using the power transmission feature of a simple Planetary Speed Reducer fixed at ring gear.

  • Energy savings and environmental protection policies have been the general trend in the engine design. The friction power loss associated with the cam mechanism has become important. But it is difficult to measure the torque of rotating valvetrain in real engine environment because most of conventional torque meters are axial type. The objective of this paper is to develop new equipment which can be installed in a rotating camshaft. It uses strain gages to measure the elastic deformation of torque sensor which replaces the cam sprocket. It includes telemetry to transmit torque data via Bluetooth and induction power system to provide adequate power to rotating torque meter. The developed torque meter has good linearity and thermostability. It was installed in a real engine, and successfully measured the valvetrain torque.
