  • The floating breakwater generally has an excellent water exchanging capability, but with some lowering harbor tranquility due to the wave transmission underneath floating body. In the initial stage of design, it is thus required to investigate several alternatives of breakwater layout for their performance of harbor tranquility. The present study aims to formulate a sort of reflection-transmission boundary condition of floating breakwater so that the existing numerical method using time dependent mild slope equation can still be applied to the case of floating breakwaters. The two and three dimensional tests were each performed to demonstrate the performance of the boundary condition. It was found that the reflection and transmission characteristics around the breakwater were well reproduced by the boundary condition. Finally, the reflection-transmission boundary condition were applied to a floating breakwater installed in an imaginary harbor with an irregular shape and bottom topography. The results surely showed that the present numerical method can effectively used in practical works related to the real sea construction of floating breakwaters.

  • The purpose of the present studies is to establish more rational and practical planning theory for trails of gradient. The results drawn from this research work are as follow ; Mean angle according to topography of Jiga road is $3^{\circ}$33'in low part, $8^{\circ}$17'in middle park and $12^{\circ}$48'in high part. Here, we can find that the highest gradient of Jige roacl is $12^{\circ}$48, Which is showing the fact that jigs road is the most function road when we compare other roads. The regression coefficient between potential model pattern and calculuted model pattern is 0.8 withinTEX>$ 0~<5^{\circ}$, 0.5 within$ 6~10^{\circ}$, and 0.53 within $11~16^{\circ}$. The linear of these model pattern is lower in R & L value, and lager in S & A value according to be steeping gradient. It is thought that these fact are closely related with between human fatigue and R.S.A.L value. Accordingly, when we plan the trails of the gradient in city park, the from of trails is right to mix straight line with curve line within $0~5^{\circ}$, and sine wave close curve line within $6~10 ^{\circ}$, $l1~16^{\circ}$. But, in fact, It is absurd that potential model pattern is applied to the city park in park of corner, widely road and facilities. Therefore, It is thought that the study of this problems will be proceeded in the future. I can reduce the following equation in relation R & S by gradient ; 22 log (R-6.0)=47.96-$\delta$

  • The purpose of this study is to make and validate landslide susceptibility map using artificial neural network and GIS in Kangneung area. For this, topography, soil, forest, geology and land cover data sets were constructed as a spatial database in GIS. From the database, slope, aspect, curvature, water system, topographic type, soil texture, soil material, soil drainage, soil effective thickness, wood type, wood age, wood diameter, forest density, lithology, land cover, and lineament were used as the landslide occurrence factors. The weight of the each factor was calculated, and applied to make landslide susceptibility maps using artificial neural network. Then the maps were validated using rate curve method which can predict qualitatively the landslide occurrence. The landslide susceptibility map can be used to reduce associated hazards, and to plan land use and construction as basic data.

  • Several developed countries have been developing their own satellite navigation systems, such as Europe's Galileo, China's BEIDOU, and Japan's QZSS, to cope with clock errors and signal vulnerabilities of GPS. In addition, modernization of Loran, eLoran, for GPS backup has been conducted. In Korea, a dependent navigation system has been required and for GPS backup, the need for utilization of time synchronization infrastructure through the modernization of Loran has been raised. Loran signal uses 100Khz groundwave. A significant factor limiting the ranging accuracy of the Loran signal is the ASF arising from the fact that the groundwave signal is likely to propagate over paths of varying conductivity and topography. Thus, an ASF compensation method is very important for Loran and eLoran navigation. This paper introduces the propagation delay model and then compares and analyzes the estimations from the propagation delay model and measured ASFs.

  • The aim of this study is to detect landslide using digital aerial photography and apply the landslide to landslide susceptibility mapping by artificial neural network (ANN) and geographic information system (GIS) at Jinbu area where many landslides have occurred in 2006 by typhoon Ewiniar, Bilis and Kaemi. Landslide locations were identified by visual interpretation of aerial photography taken before and after landslide occurrence, and checked in field. For landslide susceptibility mapping, maps of the topography, geology, soil, forest, lineament, and landuse were constructed from the spatial data sets. Using the factors and landslide location and artificial neural network, the relative weight for the each factors was determinated by back-propagation algorithm. As the result, the aspect and slope factor showed higher weight in 1.2-1.5 times than other factors. Then, landslide susceptibility map was drawn using the weights and finally, the map was validated by comparing with landslide locations that were not used directly in the analysis. As the validation result, the prediction accuracy showed 81.44%.

  • Sand deposit with shell units is exposed in Hasa-ri, Yeonggwang-gun, Jeonnam province. We investigated the characteristics of sand sediment topography in the Yeonggwang coastal area to collect evidence of the paleo-environmental change. We performed analysis on particle characteristics, chemical composition, and the age of deposition of sediments. The deposit comprise moderately well sorted medium and fine sand ($1.00{\sim}2.19{\varphi}$). Various sedimentary structures can be observed. Geochemical characteristics change by depth and the degree of variation with depth is small. The results obtained from OSL dating show that sand layers below shell units are deposited 0.32-0.43 ka. As the elevation of the shell unit far mean high water levels or highest high water level, the extensive shell layers could only have been deposited during storm surge conditions. Aeolian processes are discounted due to the size of clasts and the location at which they occur. Results of age dating of the surrounding deposits indicate shell deposits formed after around 300 years age. There is a distinct difference between sedimentary layers including dark brown-black layer. The sedimentary characters such as particle size and geochemistry show difference with depth. It is presumed that depositional environmental in Hasa-ri has changed several times before. This study is expected to contribute to finding an evidence about occurrence of storm surges.

  • As South Korea is a mountainous topography, installation of tunnel is essential for construction of expressway in straight lines. According to "2019 Road Bridge and Tunnel Status Report", there are 2,682 tunnels in Korea with total length of 2,077km. Tunnels take up 1.9% of total road length and the number of tunnel increased by 94% with 1,300 newly constructed tunnels over the 10 years. According to domestic and foreign researches, a long tunnel over 1km in expressway has dark lightings and monotonous wall design which decrease driver's concentration and make the driver feel bored. This leads to feeling fatigue and drowsiness more easily. In response, Korea Expressway Corporation installed design lighting that increases attentiveness on 10 tunnels with total length over 3km by 2020. To reduce the risks of accident that may happen inside the tunnel, this study conducted a comparative analysis on characteristics of each type of LED landscape lighting installed inside the expressway tunnel. The study aimed on providing the basic material for effective installation of LED landscape lighting for securing driving stability, reducing fatigue, and lowering the risk of drowsiness.

  • The homogeneity of the compacted ground was analyzed using drone-based remote terrain and gravity field data. Among the topographic elements calculated by the hydrological algorithm, the topographic curvature effectively showed the shape of the surface that occurred during the compaction process, and the non-uniformly compacted area could be identified. The appropriate resolution of the digital topography requires a precision of about 10 cm. Gravity field Interpretation was performed to analyze the spatial density change of the compacted ground. In the distribution of residual bouguer gravity anomaly, the non-homogeneously compacted area showed a different magnitude of gravity than the surrounding area, and the difference in compaction was identified through gravity-density modeling. From the results, it is expected that the topographic element and gravitational field analysis method can be used to evaluate the homogeneity of the compacted ground.

  • Background: The leaf temperature ($T_{LEAF}$) is one of the most important physical parameters governing water and carbon flux, including evapotranspiration, photosynthesis and respiration. Cnidium officinale is one of the important folk medicines for counteracting a variety of diseases, and is particularly used as a traditional medicinal crop in the treatment of female genital inflammatory diseases. In this study, we developed a model to estimate $T_{Leaf}$ of Cnidium officinale Makino based on black globe temperature ($T_{BGT}$). Methods and Results: This study was performed from April to July 2018 in field characterized by a valley and alluvial fan topography. Databases of $T_{LEAF}$ were curated by infrared thermometry, along with meteorological instruments, including a thermometer, a pyranometer, and an anemometer. Linear regression analysis and Student's t-test were performed to evaluate the performance of the model and significance of the parameters. The correlation coefficient between observed $T_{LEAF}$ and calculated $T_{BGT}$ obtained using an equation, developed to predict $T_{LEAF}$ based on $T_{BGT}$ was very high ($r^2=0.9500$, p < 0.0001). There was a positive relationship between $T_{BGT}$ and solar radiation ($r^2=0.8556$, p < 0.0001), but a negative relationship between $T_{BGT}$ and wind speed ($r^2=0.9707$, p < 0.0001). These results imply that heat exchange in leaves seems to be mainly controlled by solar radiation and wind speed. The correlation coefficient between actual and estimated $T_{BGT}$ was 0.9710 (p < 0.0001). Conclusions: The developed model can be used to accurately estimate the $T_{Leaf}$ of Cnidium officinale Makino and has the potential to become a practical alternative to assessing cold and heat stress.
