  • The power flow analysis(PFA) can be effectively used to predict structural vibration in medium-to-high frequency ranges. In this paper, vibration experiment has been performed to observe the analytical characteristics of the power flow analysis of the vibration of a plate. In the experiment, the loss factor of the plate and the input mobility at a source point have been measured. The data for the loss factor has been used as the input data to predict the vibration of the plate with PFA. The frequency response functions have been measured over the surface of the plate. The comparison between the experimental results and the predicted results for the frequency response functions showed that PFA can be an effective tool to predict structural vibration in medium-to-high frequency ranges.

  • Active vibration isolation systems need the following performance specifications which are different from those of existing positioning systems: usage of seismic sensors, strict suppression of phase lead/lag in signal processing for sensors and actuators, excellent control in low frequency range and so on. In consideration of such specifications, a 3-DOF precision stage for vibration isolation is designed and modeled based on the physical characteristics. Then the major parameters such as spring constants and damping coefficients are valued by the system identification method using empirical transfer function. Finite element analysis is used as a verification and simulation tool throughout this research. This paper lays the foundation for the future research on the control of the active vibration isolation system.

  • This paper presents one of the methods for design to reduce the noise and vibration of 200kW motor for electric propulsion ship. One of the important factors affecting vibration of the motor is the resonance. The natural frequency and natural mode of the 200kW motor is analyzed by using FEM tool and impact test equipment to avoid the resonance. Also, compare FEM result with impact test result to make a reliable FE model of 200kW motor. In order to find out the effect of the noise and vibration of the motor by electromagnetic excitation force, conduct electromagnetic-structure coupled analysis. These characteristics are much useful to design 200kW motor for electric propulsion ship.

  • The reciprocating type hydrogen compressor has a pulsation due to the reciprocative characteristics which results in noise and vibration. Snubber is installed for the relaxation of pulsation, but it causes reduction of compressor efficiency because of pressure loss. Five types of snubber were modeled for the numerical investigation of the effect of the relative position of inlet and outlet and buffer angle on the pulsation amplitude and pressure loss. MSC/NASTRAN is used as a numerical tool to identify the vibration characteristic of each type. Frequency responses in forced vibration mode are compared for various cases and buffer angles.

  • This article proposes a new technique of the dynamic model using multi-body dynamic analysis tool for a flexible main spindle rotor system with a novel phase adjusting control technique for the purpose of an active control of rotor vibration. The dynamic model is used as a plant model. Also in order to make control system, a component parameters and phase controller is composed and simulated by SIMULINK. The vibration is reduced to 50%. Therefore the ADAMS dynamic model for the flexible main spindle rotor and the phase adjusting control techniques may be effective for the suppressing the vibration and helpful for the future active control for rotor vibration.

  • The independent component analysis (ICA) technique is a source identification method that uses statistical independence to separate source signals from measured signals. It has been successfully applied to various fields such as medical care and communication. In this study, the ICA technique was adopted to analyze the vibration source contribution of plate structures. The theory of the ICA technique is introduced and the procedure of the vibration source contribution analysis based on the ICA technique is proposed. To investigate the applicability of the proposed method to plate structures, numerical examples are presented for a rectangular plate under harmonic force excitations. The results show that the proposed method could become an effective tool for the vibration source contribution analysis of a plate structure.

  • Tooth errors inevitable in the manufacturing process have large effect on the strength/durability and vibration performances of gear drives. We show that the manufacturing errors affect the overall gear performances, especially vibration performance, and propose a robust optimal design method for gear dimension and its tooth flank form that guarantees reliable performances to the variation of manufacturing errors. This method begins with a search of optimal design candidates by using the previously developed gear optimal design method for the strength/durability and vibration performances. Then, the statistical analysis method is applied to find a robust design solution for the vibration performance which is generally very sensitive to the manufacturing variations.

  • ER mount can be used instead of rubber mount in cylindrical shell to improve the vibration and noise performance. The noise radiated by cylindrical shell will be reduced by reducing the force transmitted to the cylindrical shell through ER mount. In this paper LQ control theory is used to reduce the transmitted force to the cylindrical shell. The finite element method of cylindrical shell is formulated by NASTRAN and its vibrating shape is calculated in frequency domain. The noise radiated from the cylindrical shell is calculated by the use of SYSNOISE, the boundary element CAE tool. The vibration of the cylindrical shell and radiated acoustic pressure is compared in case of both controlled and uncontrolled ER mount.

  • Vehicle body frame stiffness affects the dynamic and static characteristics. Vehicle frame structural performance is greatly affected by crossmember and joint design. While the structural characteristics of these joints vary widely, there is no known tool currently in use that quickly predicts joint stiffness early in design cycle. This paper presents the joint design factors affecting on low frequency vibration. The joint factors are joint panel thickness, section property, flange width and weld point space. To study the effect on vehicle low frequency vibration, case studies for these factors are performed. And Sensitivity analysis for section property is performed. The result can present design guide for high-stiffness vehicle.

  • Dynamic characteristics of a wrist power transmission examine closely with mass property, to present a model which is able to induce the vibration is ultimately the purpose. A robot wrist power transmission for analysis model gets the mass property through the approach to be the experimental. A bearing equivalent stiffness which supports the axis and a gear contact equivalent stiffness are determined by the simplicity analysis model compared the result of the experiment. We calculate the vibration tendency of the robot wrist power transmission by an analysis tool which is called the RecurDyn. We compared it with a signal analysis experiment's which a robot operation happens which is based on the ambient noise.
