  • Fine blanking is a press processing technology that can process most of the product thickness into a smooth surface with a single stroke. In this fine blanking process, shear is an essential step. The punches and dies used in the shear are subjected to impacts of tens to hundreds of gravitational accelerations, depending on the type and thickness of the material. Therefore, among the components of the fine blanking mold (dies), punches and dies are the parts with the shortest lifespan. In the actual production site, various types of tool damage occur such as wear of the tool as well as sudden punch breakage. In this study, machine learning algorithms were used to predict these problems in advance. The dataset used in this paper consisted of the signal of the vibration sensor installed in the tool and the measured burr size (tool wear). Various features were extracted so that artificial intelligence can learn effectively from signals. It was trained with 5 features with excellent distinguishing performance, and the SVM algorithm performance was the best among 33 learning models. As a result of the research, the vibration signal at the time of imminent tool replacement was matched with an accuracy of more than 85%. It is expected that the results of this research will solve problems such as tool damage due to accidental punch breakage at the production site, and increase in maintenance costs due to prediction errors in punch exchange cycles due to wear.

6.75L급 소형 AA6061 라이너의 후방압출 및 노우징 공정에 관한 해석적 연구 (Numerical Evaluation of Backward Extrusion and Head Nosing for Producing a 6.75L Small Seamless AA6061 Liner)

  • As a pressure vessel, a small seamless aluminum liner with inner volume of about 6.75L is made from an initial billet material of AA6061-O. To produce the aluminum liner, warm forging including backward extrusion and head nosing was numerically simulated using a billet initially pre-heated to about $480^{\circ}C$. Compression tests on the billet material were performed at various temperatures and strain rates, and the measured mechanical properties were used in the numerical simulations. For the backward extrusion and the head nosing, the tool geometries were designed based on the desired configuration of the aluminum liner. Furthermore, the structural integrity of the tooling was evaluated to ensure adequate tool life. The seamless aluminum liner has an endurance limit of about 1.47MPa ($15Kg_f/cm^2$), estimated based on the required inner pressure. The results confirm that the small seamless aluminum liner of AA6061-O can be successfully made by using the two stage warm forging procedures without any bursting failures.

냉방열원기기의 경제성 평가를 위한 간이계산법의 적용성 검토 (Validating the Applicability of a Simplified Correlation Method for Economic Evaluation of Cooling Plants)

  • In the previous research, a simplified correlation method was developed as an easy prediction tool for comparing energy use of cooling plants. The purpose of this paper is to test the applicability of this method for economic evaluation with two zones of a 20-story commercial building in Seoul. The results of this method were compared with the DOE-2 simulation and actual measured data. Then, Comparisons of life cycle cost were carried out for three types of cooling plants. Testing of one zone showed good agreement of within 10% error in cooling energy use and within 2% error in LCC. But testing of the other zone indicated that the use of this method were invalid when input variables were used beyond its valid range.

Classification of HDAC8 Inhibitors and Non-Inhibitors Using Support Vector Machines

  • Introduction: Histone deacetylases (HDAC) are a class of enzymes that remove acetyl groups from ${\varepsilon}$-N-acetyl lysine amino acids of histone proteins. Their action is opposite to that of histone acetyltransferase that adds acetyl groups to these lysines. Only few HDAC inhibitors are approved and used as anti-cancer therapeutics. Thus, discovery of new and potential HDAC inhibitors are necessary in the effective treatment of cancer. Materials and Methods: This study proposed a method using support vector machine (SVM) to classify HDAC8 inhibitors and non-inhibitors in early-phase virtual compound filtering and screening. The 100 experimentally known HDAC8 inhibitors including 52 inhibitors and 48 non-inhibitors were used in this study. A set of molecular descriptors was calculated for all compounds in the dataset using ADRIANA. Code of Molecular Networks. Different kernel functions available from SVM Tools of free support vector machine software and training and test sets of varying size were used in model generation and validation. Results and Conclusion: The best model obtained using kernel functions has shown 75% of accuracy on test set prediction. The other models have also displayed good prediction over the test set compounds. The results of this study can be used as simple and effective filters in the drug discovery process.

기후변화에 따른 난대상록활엽수의 적지예측 평가 모델 개발 (Development of Assessment Model for the Optimal Site Prediction of Evergreen Broad-leaved Trees in Warm Temperate Zone according to Climate Change)

  • 본 연구는 기후변화에 따른 난대상록수종인 황칠나무의 적지예측모델을 개발하기 위하여 수행하였다. 생장 및 입지환경 인자들간의 관계 구명을 통하여 양적 질적 자료 분석이 가능한 수량화 분석 방법에 의하여 황칠나무의 적지예측 평가기준을 도출하였다. 적지예측 프로그램은 ESRI, ArcView GIS 프로그램을 이용하여 개발하였다. 개발된 프로그램은 적지예측의 정확성 검토를 위하여 다양한 난대 상록활엽수가 분포하고 있는 전남 완도 지역에 적용하였다. 황칠나무의 적지예측 분석 결과, 최적지 표고 401~500m, 경사도 $15^{\circ}$ 이하, 국소지형은 산복 계곡부위, 퇴적양식 붕행토, 방위가 남쪽인 요철사면으로 나타났다. 완도지역의 황칠나무 최적지 등급별 맵핑 면적은 I 등급 1,487.2ha(25.4%), II 등급 1,020.3ha (17.4%), III 등급 2,231.8ha(38.2%), IV 등급 1,110.5ha(19.0%)로 나타났다.

전자파 강도 예측 모델을 통한 5G 기지국 평가 기법 연구 (Research on 5G Base Station Evaluation Method through Electromagnetic Wave Intensity Prediction Model)

  • 최근 5G 도입에 따라 생활 전반으로 전자파 방사원이 확산됨에 따라 국민 중심 전자파 안전관리 체계 구축이 필요한 실정이다. 특히 5G 안테나의 빔포밍 방식은 무선기지국 설치시 전자파의 전력밀도 측정은 10배 이상으로 증가되어 물리적인 측정으로 안전성을 판단하는 것은 무리가 있다. 따라서 체계적인 모델 분석을 통하여 계산에 의한 예측기법으로 생활속에 전자파 안전 유무를 판별할 필요가 있다. 본 논문에서는 이같은 문제를 해결하기 위한 방법으로 전자파 수치해석툴을 사용한 5G 무선기지국의 가능성을 확인하기 위해서 실제 기지국 측정값과 예측 모델을 통한 예측값을 상호 비교하는 신뢰도 평가를 통하여 가능성을 확인하였다.

공진 주파수를 고려한 차량 섀시 부품의 피로해석 (Fatigue Analysis of Vehicle Chassis Component Considering Resonance Frequency)

  • The purpose of this raper is to assess the benefits of frequency domain fatigue analysis and compare it with more conventional time domain techniques. The multi-body dynamic analysis, FE analysis and fatigue life prediction technique are applied for the frequency domain fatigue analysis. To obtain the dynamic load history used in the frequency domain fatigue analysis, the computer simulations running over typical road Profiles are carried out by utilizing vehicle dynamic model. The fatigue life estimation for the rear suspension system of small-sized passenger car is performed by using resonance durability analysis technique, and the estimation results are compared with the conventional quasi-static durability analysis results. For the pothole simulation, the percent changes, of the fatigue life between the two durability analysis techniques don't exceed 10%. But for the Belgian road simulation because of the resonance effect, the fatigue life using the resonance durability analysis technique are much smaller estimated than the quasi-static durability analysis results.

EPB 쉴드 TBM 커터 교체 설계 및 시공 사례 분석 (Case study of design and construction for cutter change in EPB TBM tunneling)

  • TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine)이 터널 산업에 도입된 이후로 안전성과 친환경의 이점으로 TBM의 사용이 전 세계적으로 증가하였다. 암반 및 토사 지반을 굴착하는 TBM 터널에서의 주요 비용 중 하나는 손상되거나 마모된 커터의 교체로 볼 수 있다. 커터의 교체는 시간과 비용에 큰 영향을 끼치는 작업이며 TBM 가동률과 굴진율을 크게 감소시킬 수 있다. 따라서 커터의 수명을 정확하게 평가하는 것은 공기와 비용의 측면에서 매우 중요하다. 그러나 복합 지반을 포함하여 토사 구간, 암반구간에서 커터 마모에 대한 예측은 매우 복잡하고 명확하지 않다. 이에 따라 커터 마모에 대한 다양한 예측 모델이 개발 및 도입되었지만 이러한 불확실성으로 인해 가변적인 결과를 나타낸다. 본 연구에서는 커터 마모 예측 모델을 제시하기 보다는 커터 교체의 설계 및 시공 사례 연구를 소개하고 분석했다. 커터는 지반 조건, TBM 장비 및 운전의 영향을 많이 받으므로 불확실성과 한계를 감안하면 신뢰성 있는 예측 모델을 제안하는 것은 매우 어렵기 때문에 오히려 실제 사례를 분석하고 이에 대한 자료 공유가 더 실용적이다. 커터 교체에 대한 예측과 결과 간의 차이를 확인하고 심도 있게 분석하였다.

A methodology for assessing fatigue life of a countersunk riveted lap joint

  • Fatigue life prediction of a multi-row countersunk riveted lap joint was performed numerically. The stress and strain conditions in a highly stressed substructure of the joint were analysed using a global/local finite element (FE) model coupling approach. After validation of the FE models using experimental strain measurements, the stress/strain condition in the local three-dimensional (3D) FE model was simulated under a fatigue loading condition. This local model involved multiple load cases with nonlinearity in material properties, geometric deformation, and contact boundary conditions. The resulting stresses and strains were used in the Smith-Watson-Topper (SWT) strain life equation to assess the fatigue "initiation life", defined as the life to a 0.5 mm deep crack. Effects of the rivet-hole clearance and rivet head deformation on the predicted fatigue life were identified, and good agreement in the fatigue life was obtained between the experimental and the numerical results. Further crack growth from a 0.5 mm crack to the first linkup of two adjacent cracks was evaluated using the NRC in-house tool, CanGROW. Good correlation in the fatigue life was also obtained between the experimental result and the crack growth analysis. The study shows that the selected methodology is promising for assessing the fatigue life for the lap joint, which is expected to improve research efficiency by reducing test quantity and cost.

엔진마운트 고무부품의 내구 평가 및 동적 특성 예측 (Prediction of Durability, Static and Dynamic Properties on Rubber)

  • Rubber materials have the nonlinear, large deformation and viscoelastic behavior. W.D. Kim et al. studied these characteristics through the static, fatigue, dynamic, aging and viscoelastic test. This paper discussed that the properties of engine mounting rubber, such as static stiffness, fatigue life and damping factor, are predicted based on CAE by using material properties acquired by the report of Kim et al. In result, the static stiffness of engine mounting rubber is predicted approximately in comparison with test value. Also, it was confirmed that the relationship of fatigue life and Green-Lagrange strain in specimen was the valid tool to predict the fatigue life of engine mounting rubber. From the results of transient viscoelastic analysis the damping factor changed rapidly at the range less than 8hz.
