Measuring Expected Meal Duration for Restaurant Revenue Management (레스토랑 수익 관리를 위한 적정 식사 시간 측정에 관한 연구)

  • Restaurants have two strategic levers for revenue management: duration control and demand-based pricing. Reducing dining times, especially during peak periods, can add considerable revenue for restaurants. Managing meal duration, however, can be far more complex than manipulating the price. This paper examines dining duration expectations for restaurants types(Family, Korean, Quick service restaurant), customers characteristics(gender, age, occupation, meal period, visiting frequency, dining occasion, dining companions) using an a adaptation of a price sensitivity measurement tool, naming it 'Time Sensitivity measurement tool' or TSM. The TSM is then used to derive the optimal time points, and the range of acceptable times. The results demonstrate that there is a relatively wide spread of acceptable dining duration times in family restaurant. Furthermore, the optimal time points was shorter than the mean expected dining times, which suggests that many restaurants may be able to shorten dining duration without compromising customer satisfaction. The paper explores whether demographic and dining variables have an impact on time preferences, and finds whether gender, age, meal periods, visiting frequency, and dining companion effects are significant. Specifically, women in their thirties tended to prefer a significantly longer dining times for dinner.

  • In order to achieve computer-oriented control and automation of manufacturing processec, a distributed NC (DNC_) system was developed for FMS under the Windows environment. The DNC system consists of conventional DNC, PMC interface and tool management modules. Real-time system conditon monitoring and control fuctions required for machine tools and machining processes were accomplished by developing a PMC interface module called MMC board. Tool condition monitoring and management was performed by the developed tool management module composed of a tool setting probe and softwares. Performance of the DNC system was confirmed on the horizontal and the vertical type machining center equipped with FANUC OMC for the large amount of experiments.

  • The KSLV-II project with high difficulties technically requires thorough technical management during long-term life cycle more than 10 years for launching into space. The TRL is a quantitative indicator developed by NASA widely used all over the world to measure technology maturity of a system development objectively and consistently. The TRL is also used to make sure technology level and to establish a future direction in the KSLV-II project. The TRL has advantage enable to identify a technology level through quantitative indicators. However, it takes a lot of efforts such as trials and errors, time and cost to apply it to the project considering the project environments, and stakeholder needs. These include not only to establish TRL management plan from ideal, conceptual and abstractive standards/guidelines such as NASA's, but also to construct TRL management environment enable to apply and manage harmoniously. In the KSLV-II project, it is required to figure out current technology level and technology development trend in the future, to access conveniently, to share related data in real time, and to update periodically for the comprehensive TRL management. From the reason above, the TRL management environment was built by using the systems engineering tool already has been used for other system management data such as requirements in the project. It also could be accomplished a practical management basis of systems engineering from the traceability among system management data including TRL. In this paper, case study results are introduced to manage the TRL for the space launch vehicle using the systems engineering tool in the KSLV-II project.

  • Works that improve the process and notify the improved process, the product and the change of tasks to all users are essential in achieving project. Existent project management tools support the definition and the change of project activities, and configuration management tools support version check, workspace management. build management. etc. It costs too much to buy each tool. as well as, it is burdensome to learn usage for various tools. Therefore the web-based integrated tool is proposed to manage the process and artifacts at a time in this paper. The proposed tool defines component based development process model. and achieves recording of process progression, processing the request of change, reporting the progression of each task, product registering and change, version recording, artifact or form search, etc. using ebXML. Furthermore, the stakeholders get the systematic management and standardization by sharing information that are necessary in process achievement and configuration management in distributed environment using the integrated management tool.

  • In this paper, the business process was easily modeled by distinguishing between the business process and work logic. Based on this model, B2Bi collaboration Workflow modeling tool, which facilitates collaboration, was designed and implemented. The collaboration workflow modeling tool consists of 3 components; business process modeling tool, execution engine and monitoring tool. First, a business process modeling tool is used to build a process map that reflects the business logic of an application in a quick and accurate manner. Second an execution engine provides a real-time execution environment for business process instance. Third, a monitoring tool provides a real-time monitoring function for the business process that is in operation at the time. In addition to this, it supports flexibility and expandability based on XML and J2EE for the linkage with the legacy system that was used previously, and suggests a solution for a new corporate strategy and operation.

  • In this paper, we provide a mathematical formulation to describe the random mobility of users in cellular radio systems. With this, we can also study tile cell sojourn time (CST) distribution as well as the channel holding time (CHT) distribution. The study on user mobility enables to improve the resource management in cellular radio systems. We provide a versatile analysis tool that improves the limit of simplified analyses.

  • The self-reliance of NSSS System Design is required not only the design capability to perform the system design but also the management capability to control the resource and time for the Project effectively. The purpose of this study is to develop the simplified standard Logic Network that is scheduled on the time and resource using the PERT/CPM method. That is mainly focused on Ulchin 3&4 Project.   • Baseboard Management Controller(BMC) supports server monitoring, maintenance, and control functions using various communication interfaces. However, if an unexpected problem occurs during the device driver initialization process, the BMC may not operate normally. Therefore, a boot process profiling tool that accurately analyzes the device driver initialization process and provides a function to check the analysis result is essential. Existing boot process profiling tools do not specifically provide the device driver initialization process and results required for BMC boot process analysis, forcing developers to use a combination of tools to analyze the boot process in detail. In this paper, we propose an integrated profiling tool for BMC's booting process. The proposed tool provides device driver initialization process analysis, CPU and memory usage analysis, and kernel version management functions. Users can easily analyze the booting process using the proposed tool, and the analysis result can be used to shorten the booting time. Also, the proposed tool is implemented in Linux-based BMC, and it is shown that the proposed tool is more efficient than the existing profiling tool.

정적자세 유지시 수공구의 무게가 상완의 postural tremor에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

  • Postural tremor of the upper arm in a static posture was measured to provide guidelines of hand tool weight. Three types of camera recording postures were selected. Postural tremor was measured on five levels of tool weights; no weight, 400g, 800, 1200g, and 1600g. For each conditions, upper arm postural tremor was measured together with EMG of biceps, deltoid, and pectoralis major, and Borg's CR-20 scale ratings of perceived exertion. Results of the experiment are as follows; Frequency analysis of tremor revealed that increased amplitude of frequency band of 2-4Hz and 10-14Hz was observed. Postural tremor of the upper arm maintained the initial level until fatigue developed. After the development of fatigue, the rate of the change of postural tremor was significantly increased. Different tool weights and hand postures showed different rate of tremor increase. And time to fatigue and the corresponding endurance time was positively correlated with Borg's RPF scores.

  • Most of existing expert systems developed for Web use CGI-based techniques and this frequently makes them suffer from the overburden of commercial Web servers, which deal with large-scale services. However, since HTML-based inference technique represents expert's knowledge by hyperlinks among HTML documents, the hypertext function of the Web can perform the inference efficiently in terms of time and space without the help of additional inference engines. In spite of such benefits, when the expert's knowledge is relatively large and/or complicated, the HTML-based inference technique has usually become to have a hard time of dealing with a lot of HTML documents because generation and management tasks of the numerous HTML documents would cause big trouble to the knowledge engineer. To resolve this problem, we developed an automatic generation and management tool for Web-based inference sites, called WeBIS. With this tool, a knowledge engineer can input and edit expert's knowledge using Expert's Diagram on the GUI(Graphical User Interface) environment and automatically generate hyper-linked HTML documents for Web-based inference from the Expert's Diagram.
