In this paper, we examine a long-range dependence in an active measurement of a network traffic which has been a well known characteristic from analyses of a passive network traffic measurement. To this end, we utilize RTT(Round Trip Time), which is a typical active measurement measured by PingER project, and perform a relevant analysis to a time series of both RTT and its volatilities. The RTT time series exhibits a long-range dependence or a 1/f noise. The volatilities, defined as a higher-order variation, follow a log-normal distribution. Furthermore, volatilities show a long-range dependence in relatively short time intervals, and a long-range dependence and/or 1/f noise in long time intervals. From this study, we find that the long-range dependence is a characteristic of not only a passive traffic measurement but also an active measurement of network traffic such as RTT. From these findings, we can infer that the long-range dependence is a characteristic of network traffic independent of a type of measurements. In particular, an active measurement exhibits a 1/f noise which cannot be usually found in a passive measurement.

Time series analysis is a frequently effective method of constructing model and prediction in data processing of deformation monitoring. The monitoring data sample must to be as more as possible and time intervals are equal roughly so as to construct time series model accurately and achieve reliable prediction. But in the project practice of GPS deformation monitoring, the monitoring data sample can't be obtained too much and time intervals are not equal because of being restricted by all kinds of factors, and it contains many variates in the deformation model moreover. It is very important to study the data processing method for small samples and multi-variates time series in GPS deformation monitoring. A new method of establishing small samples and multi-variates deformation model and prediction model are put forward so as to resolve contradiction of small samples and multi-variates encountered in constructing deformation model and improve formerly data processing method of deformation monitoring. Based on the system theory, a deformation body is regarded as a whole organism; a time-dependence linear system model and a time-dependence bilinear system model are established. The dynamic parameters estimation is derived by means of prediction fit and least information distribution criteria. The final example demonstrates the validity and practice of this method.
Since the late of 1990, there have been number of studies on the required number of probe vehicles and/or optimal aggregation interval sizes for travel time estimation and forecasting. However, in general one to five minutes are used as aggregation intervals for the travel time estimation intervals for the travel time estimation and/or forecasting of loop detector system without a reasonable validation. The objective of this study is to deveop models for identifying optimal aggregation interval sizes of loop detector data for travel time estimation and prediction. This study developed Cross Valiated Mean Square Error (CVMSE) model for the link and route travel time forecasting, The developed models were applied to the loop detector data of Kyeongbu expressway. It was found that the optimal aggregation sizes for the travel time estimation and forecasting are three to five minutes and ten to twenty minutes, respectively.

ECG signal has the feature that is repeated in a cycle of P, Q, R, S, and T waves and is sampled at a high sampling frequency in general. By using the feature of periodic ECG signals, maximizing compression efficiency while minimizing the loss of important information for diagnosis is required. However, the periodic characteristics of such amplitude and period is not constant by measuring time and patients. Even though measured at the same time, the patient's characteristics display different periodic intervals. In this paper, an adaptive multi-level coding is provided by coding adaptively the dominant and non-dominant signal interval of the ECG signal. The proposed method can maximize the compression efficiency by using a multi-level code that applies different compression ratios considering information loss associated with the dominant signal intervals and non-dominant signal intervals. For the case of long time measurement, this method has a merit of maximizing compression ratio compared with existing compression methods that do not use the periodicity of the ECG signal and for the lossless compression coding of non-dominant signal intervals, the method has an advantage that can be stored without loss of information. The effectiveness of the ECG signal compression is proved throughout the experiment on ECG signal of MIT-BIH arrhythmia database.

Korea have experienced a very rapid increase in police-reported collisions between bicycle and motor vehicles over the past decade. Even though cycling accidents are increasing, efforts to make urban areas more accomodating to cyclists are seldom formed. Clearance intervals(including both the yellow change and all-red clearance intervals) at signalized intersections that are of inadequate lengths for bicycles may cause accidents. Data on bicycling speed, acceleration and deceleration were tested and analyzed on the flat. Using the results of the analysis and based on the AASHTO's equation of the bicycle clearance interval, a methodology is got for calculation safe clearance intervals for bicycle riders. The clearance interval call for bicycles will be larger or same than for vehicles because of the speed, acceleration and deceleration difference. Adequate bicycle speed, acceleration and deceleration for korean bicycle users is presented in this paper. It is hoped that traffic engineers to provide safe intersection clearance time for bicycles use the results of this paper.
Fexofenadine, one of selective histamine $H_1$ receptor antagonists, has been used for the treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria. The bioequivalence of two fexofenadine hydrochloride preparations, containing 180 mg fexofenadine hydrochloride, was evaluated according to the guidelines of Korea Food & Drug Administration (KFDA). The test product was Hanmi Fexofenadine Hydrochloride $Tablet^{\circledR}$ made by Hanmi Pharm. Co. and the reference product was Allegra $Tablet^{\circledR}$ made by Handok Parmaceuticals Co.. Twenty healthy male subjects were randomly divided into two groups and a $2\;{\time}\;2$ cross-over study was employed. After one tablet was orally administered, blood was taken at predetermined time intervals and the concentration of fexofenadine in plasma was determined using a validated HPLC method with fluorescence detector. Two pharmacokinetic parameters, $AUC_t$ and $C_{max}$, were calculated and analyzed statistically for the evaluation of bioequivalence of the two products. Analysis of variance was carried out using logarithmically transformed parameter values. The 90% confidence intervals of $AUC_t$ and $C_{max}$ were $log\;0.822{\sim}log \;1.142$ and $log\;0.848{\sim}log\;1.172$, respectively. These values were within the acceptable bioequivalence intervals of log 0.8 to log 1.25. Thus, the criteria of the KFDA guidelines for the bioequivalence was satisfied, indicating that Hanmi Fexofenadine Hydrochloride Tablet is bioequivalent to Allegra Tablet.

Checkpointing is one of common methods of realizing fault-tolerance for real-time systems. This paper presents a scheme to determine checkpoint intervals using probabilistic optimization. The considered real-time systems comprises multiple tasks in which transient faults can happen with a Poisson distribution. Also, multi-tasks are scheduled by the non-preemptive Rate Monotonic (RM) algorithm. In this paper, we present an optimization problem where the probability of task completion is described by checkpoint numbers. The solution to this problem is the optimal set of checkpoint numbers and intervals that maximize the probability. The probability computation includes schedulability test for the non-preemptive RM algorithm with respect to given numbers of checkpoint re-execution. A case study is given to show the applicability of the proposed scheme.
Purpose: The global fight against the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic has led to widespread vaccination efforts, yet the optimal dosing schedule for SARS-CoV-2 vaccines remains a subject of ongoing research. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of administering two booster doses as the third and fourth doses at different intervals to enhance vaccine protection. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted at a military regional hospital operated by the Ministry of National Defense in Taiwan. A cohort of vaccinated individuals was selected, and their vaccine potency was assessed at various time intervals following their initial vaccine administration. The study participants received booster doses as the third and fourth doses, with differing time intervals between them. The study monitored neutralizing antibody titers and other relevant parameters to assess vaccine efficacy. Results: Our findings revealed that the potency of the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine exhibited a significant decline 80 days after the initial vaccine administration. However, a longer interval of 175 days between booster injections resulted in significantly higher neutralizing antibody titers. The individuals who received the extended interval boosters exhibited a more robust immune response, suggesting that a vaccine schedule with a 175-day interval between injections may provide superior protection against SARS-CoV-2. Conclusion: This study underscores the importance of optimizing vaccine booster dosing schedules to maximize protection against SARS-CoV-2. The results indicate that a longer interval of 175 days between the third and fourth doses of the vaccine can significantly enhance the neutralizing antibody response, potentially offering improved protection against the virus. These findings have important implications for vaccine distribution and administration strategies in the ongoing battle against the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. Further research and largescale trials are needed to confirm and extend these findings for broader public health implications.

Bioequivalence of cisapride-containing $Cisaplus^{(R)}$ tablets (Daewoong Co.) to reference $Prepulsid^{(R)}$ tablets (Janssen Co.) was evaluated according to the guidelines of Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA). Sixteen healthy volunteers were divided randomly into two groups and administered orally at a cisapride dose of 10 mg in a $2\times2$ crossover design. There was a 1-week washout period between the treatments. Blood samples were taken at predetermined time intervals for 48 hr and the plasma cisapride concentrations were determined by an HPLC with UV detector. The area under the plasma drug concentration-time curve (AUC) was caltulated from time zero to the last sampling time by a linear trapezoidal method. The maximum observed plasma drug concentration ($C_{max}$) and the time to $C_{max}\;(T_{max})$ were estimated directly from the drug concentration-time data. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed that the apparent differences for AUC, $C_{max}\;and\;T_{max}$ were $-7.52\%,\;-8.91\%\;and\;-15.55\%$, respectively. The minimum detectable differences for AUC, $C_{max}\;and\;T_{max}$ between formulations were $14.52\%,\;11.57\%\;and\;28.00\%$ respectively, at $\alpha=0.05\;and\;1-\beta=0.8\;levels.\;The\;90\%$ confidence intervals for AUC, $C_{max}\;and\;T_{max}\;were\;-16.00\sim0.97\%,\;-15.67\sim-2.15\%\;and\;-31.88\%\sim0.84\%$, respectively. These results satisfy the bioequivalence criteria of KFDA guidelines, indicating that the two formulations of cisapride are bioequivalent.

The author carried out an experiment to find out the response of cat shark, Scyliorhinus torazame(Tanaka) to the colored lights. The experimental thank (360L$\times$50W$\times$55H cm) was set up in a dark room. Six longitudinal sections with 60cm intervals are marked in the tank to observe th location of the fish. Water depth in the tank was kept 50cm level. Light bulbs of 20W at the both ends of the tank projected the light horizontally into the tank. Two different colored filters were selected from four colors of red, blue, yellow, and white, and they were placed in front of the light bulbs to make different colors of light. Light intensity were controlled by use of auxiliary filters intercepted between the bulb and the filter. The fishes were acclimatized in the dark for 50 minutes before they were employed in the experiment. Upon turning on the light, the number of fish in each section was counted 40 times in 30 second intervals, and the mean of the number of fish in each section was given as the gathering rate of the fish. The favorite color of the fish was found in the order of yellow, white, blue and red in day time, and red, blue, white and yellow at night time. The variation of the gathering rate on illumination time was very little and showed more stability in day time than at night time. The differences of the gathering rates to two selected colors out of the four colors were greater regardless of illumination time.
