  • A knowledge-based with production rules is a representation of static knowledge of an expert. On the other hand, a real system such as the stock market is dynamic in nature. Therefore we need a method to reflect the dynamic nature of a system when we make inferences with a knowledge-based system. This paper suggests a strategy of dynamic inference that can be used to take into account the dynamic behavior of decision-making with the knowledge-based system consisted of fuzzy production rules. A degree of match(DM) between actual input information and a condition of a rule is represented by a value [0,1]. Weights of relative importance of attributes in a rule are obtained by the AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) method. Then these weights are applied as exponents for the DM, and the DMs in a rule are combined, with the Min operator, into a single DM for the rule. In this way, the importance of attributes of a rule, which can be changed from time to time, can be reflected in an inference with fuzzy production systems.

  • A Bayesian network (BN) based fault diagnosis framework for semiconductor etching equipment is presented. Suggested framework contains data preprocessing, data synchronization, time series modeling, and BN inference, and the established BNs show the cause and effect relationship in the equipment module level. Statistically significant state variable identification (SVID) data of etch equipment are preselected using principal component analysis (PCA) and derivative dynamic time warping (DDTW) is employed for data synchronization. Elman's recurrent neural networks (ERNNs) for individual SVID parameters are constructed, and the predicted errors of ERNNs are then used for assigning prior conditional probability in BN inference of the fault diagnosis. For the demonstration of the proposed methodology, 300 mm etch equipment model is reconstructed in subsystem levels, and several fault diagnosis scenarios are considered. BNs for the equipment fault diagnosis consists of three layers of nodes, such as root cause (RC), module (M), and data parameter (DP), and the constructed BN illustrates how the observed fault is related with possible root causes. Four out of five different types of fault scenarios are successfully diagnosed with the proposed inference methodology.

  • The evaluation of risk level or possibility of traffic accidents is a fundamental task in reducing the dangers associated with current transportation system. However, due to the lack of data and basic researches for identifying such factors, evaluations so far have been undertaken by only the experts who can use their judgements well in this regard. Here comes the motivation this thesis to evaluate such risk level more or less in an automatic manner. The purpose of this thesis is to test the fuzzy-logic theory in evaluating the risk level of traffic accidents. In modeling the process of expert's logical inference of risk level determination, only the geometric features have been considered for the simplicity of the modeling. They are the visibility of road surface, horizontal alignment, vertical grade, diverging point, and the location of pedestrain crossing. At the same time, among some inference methods, fuzzy composition inference method has been employed as a back-bone inference mechanism. In calibration, the proposed model used four sites' data. After that, using calibrated model, six sites' risk levels have been identified. The results of the six sites' outcomes were quite similar to those of real world other than some errors caused by the enforcement of the model's output. But it seems that this kind of errors can be overcome in the future if some other factors such as driver characteristics, traffic environment, and traffic control conditions have been considered. Futhermore, the application of site's specific time series data would produce better results.

  • This paper studies on an on-line recognition of handwritten Hangeul characters using the fuzzy inference. To solve the ambiguity due to the variations of writing style by writes, these handwri-tten characters are recognized by means of the fuzzy inference on the production rule which is generated with every relative position information between strokes. In order to reduce the processing time, a subgroup which is previously classified with the number of strokes of reference characters is selected according to the number of strokes of input character, and the tolerance limit of distances between input character and reference characters of a subgroup is introduced to reduce the reference characters which is applied to the fuzzy inference. Experimental results for handwritten Hanguel charters 3990 by 10 writers show the recognition rate of $99.5{\%}$and the average processing time of 0.4sec/character.

  • In this paper, we apply software agents, which use fuzzy logic and make autonomous decisions according to state transitions, to car driving environment. We carry out an experiment on artificial intelligent car driving in terms of real-time reactive agents. Inference techniques for constructing real-time reactive agents consider the settings with max-product inference, n-fuzzy rules, and n-associatives ($A_l,\;B_l),\;{\ldots}(A_n,\;B_n$). Then we perform defuzzification processes, extract a central value, and work out inference processes.

  • This paper describes the design of nonlinear fuzzy I+PD controller using simplified indirect inference method. First, the fuzzy I+PD controller is derived from the conventional continuous time linear I+PD controller. Then the fuzzification, control-rule base, and defuzzification using SIIM in the design of the fuzzy controller are discussed in detail. The resulting controller is a discrete time fuzzy version of the conventional I+PD controller. which has the same linear structure. but are nonlinear functions of the input signals. The proposed controller enhances the self-tuning control capability. Particularly when the process to be controlled is nonlinear When the SIIM is applied, the fuzzy inference results can be calculated with splitting fuzzy variables into each action component and are determined as the functional form of corresponding variables. So the proposed method has the capability of the high speed inference and adapting with increasing the number of the fuzzy input variables easily. Computer simulation results have demonstrated the superior to the control performance of the one Proposed by D. Misir et at.

  • The analysis of the variable continuous big data stram should reach the destination context awareness. This study presented a novel way of context inference of the variable data stream from sensor motes. For assessment of the sensor data, we calculated the difference of each measured value at the time window and determined the belief value of each focal element. It was beneficial that calculate and assessment of factor of situation for context inference with the Dempster-Shfer evidence theory.

  • The bearing diagnostics method is presented in this paper using fuzzy inference based on vibration data. Both time-domain and frequency-domain features are used as input data for bearing fault detection. The Adaptive Network based Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) have been proposed to select the fuzzy model input and output parameters. Training results give the optimized fuzzy inference system for bearing diagnosis based on measured vibration data. The result is also tested with other sets of bearing data to illustrate the reliability of the chosen model.

  • A design method of rule-based fuzzy modeling is presented for the model identification of complex and nonlinear systems. Three kinds of method for fuzzy modeling presented in this paper include simplified inference (type 1), linear inference (type 2), and modified linear inference (type 3). The fuzzy c-means clustering and modified complex methods are used in order to identify the preise structure and parameter of fuzzy implication rules, respectively and the least square method is utilized for the identification of optimal consequence parameters. Time series data for gas funace and sewage treatment processes are used to evaluate the performances of the proposed rule-based fuzzy modeling.
