유도 초음파 신호 분석을 위한 적응 단시간 푸리에 변환 (Adaptive Short-time Fourier Transform for Guided-wave Analysis)

  • Although time-frequency analysis is useful for dispersive wave analysis, conventional methods such as the short-time Fourier transform do not take the dispersion phenomenon into consideration in the tiling of the time-frequency domain. The objective of this paper is to develop an adaptive time-frequency analysis method whose time-frequency tiling is determined with the consideration of signal dispersion characteristics. To achieve the adaptive time-frequency tiling, each of time-frequency atoms is rotated in the time-frequency plane depending on the local wave dispersion. To carry out this adaptive time-frequency transform, dispersion characteristics hidden in a signal are first estimated by an iterative scheme. To examine the effectiveness of the present method, the flexural wave signals measured in a plate were analyzed.

  • 다양한 분야에서 특정 이미지와 유사한 내용의 이미지를 찾기 위해서 이미지 유사도 기법을 지원하는 웹 또는 프로그램이 많이 사용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이미지 유사도 기법을 병리학 이미지에 적용하여 특정 세포를 찾는데 사용함으로써 사용자에게 정확하고 신뢰성 있는 정보를 전달하려 한다. 실제로 병리학에서 특정 세포를 찾기에는 세포의 크기가 너무 작고 모양이 일정하지 않는다는 점 때문에 유사한 세포를 찾기가 힘들다. 이를 해결하기 위해 Leveling과 Tiling 방식을 적용하여 데이터를 추출하고 이미지 동기화를 통해 유사도 비교 시 정확도를 높이도록 한다. 다양한 병리학 이미지 포맷을 지원하는 OpenSlide 기반의 대용량 이미지에 제안하는 방식을 적용하여 특정 세포와 유사한 부분을 찾아내는 실험을 통하여 제안하는 방식이 효율적임을 보인다.

  • We present a novel method for determining k nearest neighbors, which accurately recognizes the underlying clusters in a data set. To this end, we introduce the "tiling neighborhood" which is constructed by tiling a number of small local circles rather than a single circle, as existing neighborhood schemes do. Then we formulate the problem of determining the tiling neighborhood as a minimax optimization, leading to an efficient message passing algorithm. For several real data sets, our method outperformed the k-nearest neighbor method. The results suggest that our method can be an alternative to existing for general classification tasks, especially for data sets which have many missing values.

제주도 효제문자도 도상을 활용한 테셀레이션 기법의 텍스타일 패턴디자인 개발 - 신(信)자도를 중심으로 - (Development of Textile Pattern Design by Tessellation Technique using Iconography of Jeju's Hyojemunjado - Focused on characters -)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop textile pattern designs by utilizing the prototype of traditional culture extracted from cultural resources in order to establish a specialty strategy for local cultural contents. To achieve this, the study selected the Hyojaemunjado as source of Jeju traditional culture. Jeju's Hyojaemunjado is characterized mainly by the creative and unique formativeness of Jeju's character paintings. Character paintings often contained images related to the characters featured inside characters, or composed stroke with symbolic iconography. The main subjects of Hyojaemunjado were stories that alluded to the Confucian virtues. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to remind people of the real meaning of Shin(truth) by developing textile pattern designs, which borrows the tessellation technique for design, and the dominant characteristic of geometric abstraction. This study used theoretical research and empirical analysis. First, the study did the theatrical research on Hyojaemunjado based on literature and precedent studies, and then analyzed the style of expression and formativeness on the Shin character paintings through real analysis of Jeju's Hyojaemunjado kept in Jeju National University Museum. Second, based on the analysis of the style(three-tier composition) and formativeness of Hyojaemunjado, it analyzed the formativeness of the iconography about Shin, i.e. character types(semi cursive style, square style) drawn according to the symbolic meaning, palace, unknown flower, pheasant, tile fish and constellation. Based on analysis of the iconography, it stylized the motives that became available on the Archimedean tiling of tessellation, and then developed the textile pattern designs by arranging the iconographic motives with Platonic tiling and Semi-tiling. The reason why this study borrowed tessellation was to create various visual effects using the size of angle, symmetry and change and joint with simple figure.

Dispersion-Based Continuous Wavelet Transform for the Analysis of Elastic Waves

  • The continuous wavelet transform (CWT) has a frequency-adaptive time-frequency tiling property, which makes it popular for the analysis of dispersive elastic wave signals. However, because the time-frequency tiling of CWT is not signal-dependent, it still has some limitations in the analysis of elastic waves with spectral components that are dispersed rapidly in time. The objective of this paper is to introduce an advanced time-frequency analysis method, called the dispersion-based continuous wavelet transform (D-CWT) whose time-frequency tiling is adaptively varied according to the dispersion relation of the waves to be analyzed. In the D-CWT method, time-frequency tiling can have frequency-adaptive characteristics like CWT and adaptively rotate in the time-frequency plane depending on the local wave dispersion. Therefore, D-CWT provides higher time-frequency localization than the conventional CWT. In this work, D-CWT method is applied to the analysis of dispersive elastic waves measured in waveguide experiments and an efficient procedure to extract information on the dispersion relation hidden in a wave signal is presented. In addition, the ridge property of the present transform is investigated theoretically to show its effectiveness in analyzing highly time-varying signals. Numerical simulations and experimental results are presented to show the effectiveness of the present method.

JPEG 2000을 위한 Tiling 시스템의 구현 (Implementation of Tiling System for JPEG 2000)

  • 본 논문은 JPEG 2000에 사용되는 전처리 과정 기능인 타일링 시스템의 구현에 관한 것이다. 설계된 시스템은 JPEG 2000의 표준에 명시되어 있으며, 이미지의 크기 파악, 영역 확장 그리고 이미지 분할 기능을 수행한다. Progressive한 입력을 타일 단위로 분할 및 전송하기 위해서, 입력 이미지를 Frame Memory에 저장한다. 그래서 Verilog-HDL를 사용하여 FSM 방식으로 설계되었으며 최대 5M 이미지를 처리할 수 있다. 또한, 영역 확장을 위한 이미지 크기를 파악하기 위해서 나머지(rem) 연산을 기반으로 한 수식을 만들었다. 이를 이용해서 입력 이미지의 크기 패턴을 파악하는 진리표를 제안한다. TSMC 0.25um ASIC library 환경에서 합성된 gate counts는 18,725로 되었으며 maximum data arrival time은 18.94[ns]를 가진다.

Stereo matching for large-scale high-resolution satellite images using new tiling technique

  • Stereo matching has been grabbing the attention of researchers because it plays an important role in computer vision, remote sensing and photogrammetry. Although most methods perform well with small size images, experiments applying them to large-scale data sets under uncontrolled conditions are still lacking. In this paper, we present an empirical study on stereo matching for large-scale high-resolution satellite images. A new method is studied to solve the problem of huge size and memory requirement when dealing with large-scale high resolution satellite images. Integrating the tiling technique with the well-known dynamic programming and coarse-to-fine pyramid scheme as well as using memory wisely, the suggested method can be utilized for huge stereo satellite images. Analyzing 350 points from an image of size of 8192 x 8192, disparity results attain an acceptable accuracy with RMS error of 0.5459. Taking the trade-off between computational aspect and accuracy, our method gives an efficient stereo matching for huge satellite image files.

Girih 타일링을 이용한 초등수학영재 프로그램 개발 및 적용 연구 (The Development and Application of Girih tiling Program for the Math-Gifted Student in Elementary School)

  • girih 타일링은 비주기적이면서도 규칙적인 구조를 가진 타일링으로, 최근 '이슬람 사원 장식에 숨어있는 수학의 비밀'로 주목받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이를 소재로 하여 비주기적인 규칙성 안에 숨어 있는 수학이 만들어내는 유용성과 아름다움을 체험할 수 있는 초등 수학영재 프로그램을 개발 적용하고 그 결과를 분석하는 데 목적을 두었다. 개발한 초등수학영재 프로그램은 '이슬람 문양 속 girih의 비밀을 찾아서'이며, Renzulli의 3부 심화학습 형식에 따라 적용하였다. 이 프로그램은 대전광역시 유성구에 소재하고 있는 D 초등학교 5, 6학년 통합영재반 6명에게 적용한 결과를 토대로 수정, 보완 하였으며 개발된 프로그램 및 학습 자료는 초등수학영재 교육을 위한 소재 개발과 방법에 있어 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다.
