Background: The gastrocnemius (GCM) is one of the lower extremity muscles that tend to tighten easily. GCM tightness results in limited ankle dorsi-flexion (DF), especially when the knee joint is fully extended. Joint flexibility is determined by the morphological and physiological characteristics of joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Impaired joint flexibility can be attributed to increased susceptibility to muscle injury. High-frequency diathermy is clinically used to reduce pain and muscle tightness and to improve limited range of motion. Objects: This study aimed to investigate the immediate effects of high-frequency therapy in subjects with GCM tightness. Methods: The study was designed as a one-group before-after trial. The subjects included 28 volunteers with GCM tightness (an active ankle DF angle of less than 12°) without any known neurological and musculoskeletal pathologies in the ankle and calf areas. WINBACK Transfer Electrode Capacitive and Resistive Therapy equipment was used to apply high-frequency therapy to the subjects' GCMs for 10-15 minutes. The pennation angle and the fascicle length of the GCM were measured using ultrasonography. The flexibility of the ankle joint, peak torque to the passive ankle DF (Biodex), and soft tissue stiffness (MyotonPRO) were also measured. Results: The pennation angle was significantly decreased following the treatment; however, no significant difference in the fascicle length was found (p < 0.05). The flexibility was significantly increased and both the passive peak torque to passive ankle DF and the soft tissue stiffness significantly decreased (p < 0.05). Conclusion: High-frequency therapy is immediately effective for improving the muscle's architectural properties and functional factors in subjects with GCM tightness. Further longitudinal clinical studies are required to investigate the long-term effects of high-frequency therapy on subjects with GCM tightness from various causes.

For the development of butterfly valves used in liquefied natural gas (LNG) vessels, the seat tightness is one of the important factors to be taken into account in the valve-design process. An O-ring-type metal seal with a retaining ring showing good seat tightness at cryogenic temperatures has been widely used, despite the high manufacturing costs involved. As an alternative, a flexible solid metal seal offers not only sufficient tightness of the butterfly valve, meeting specification requirements, but also relatively low manufacturing costs. In this study, a design criterion to ensure the seat tightness of the butterfly valve using the flexible solid metal seal is proposed. The contact pressure can be calculated by the simulation of the frictional contact behavior between the surface of the metal seal and the valve disc. The geometry of the flexible solid metal seal is determined so that it satisfies the design criterion for sufficient seat tightness, and is verified by experiments according to BS6755 and BS6364.
Posterior capsular tightness with glenohumeral internal rotation deficit is usually considered to be an acquired condition of the throwing shoulder and is usually treated conservatively. However, because posterior capsular tightness is sometimes irreversible, we have performed arthroscopic capsular release for painful throwing shoulder with posterior capsular tightness. The true loss of internal rotation and posterior stiffness was confirmed by examination with the patient under anesthesia, and contracture of the posterior capsule and the posterior band of the inferior glenohumeral ligamant was observed arthroscopically. Because an extensive adhesion between the capsule and the fascia of the external rotators was noted, a capsular release was performed from 6 o'clock to 11 o'clock (in the right shoulder) to completely expose the muscle belly of the external rotators. Of the first 16 consecutive patients, 4 had no concomitant lesions and underwent posterior capsular release alone. With a minimum of 2 years' follow-up, it was ascertained that the throwing pain completely disappeared in 14 patients and improved in 2. In all, 11 patients returned to their preinjury performance level, and 5 returned to a lower level of function. In the 4 patients who had no concomitant lesions, throwing pain completely disappeared, and all were able to return to their preinjury performance level.

In responding to the recent framework convention on climate change, and the rise of the need for energy efficient buildings, such as Zero Energy Buildings (ZEB), domestic insulation standards and energy conservation regulations are being reinforced, to prevent heat loss. Accordingly, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport have made amendments in Chapter 21 "Enforcement regulations for building facilities standards etc.", and Chapter 22 "Energy conservation standard", to reflect these changes. To effectively implement these regulations, it is required to propose air-tightness test methods, and establish air-tightness standards, based on the air leakage characteristics of domestic apartment housings. This research has been done primarily to collect basic technical data, to provide guidance for the establishment of domestic air-tightness standards for new apartment housing, through studying air-tightness test methods, field measurement on air-tightness of new apartment housings, and air leakage characteristics of major developed countries.
The purpose of this research is revise the value yield to compensate of measure the difference between computer simulation and the measurement value on the two methods which can calculates thermal performance. The way is need to understand about thermal performance, air tightness, simulations and comparisons of analysis to influence the value of each identified. The opening type of the windows and doors to be used at the analysis are T/T, L/S and SL Different condition of the windows and doors excluded except the opening type. Each of the four samples was selected by the way of opening. Result of the analysis of the difference between measurement and simulation are that T/T approach 5.3%, L/S approach 15.7%, SL approach 21% and the more air-tightness guarantees less difference of the numerical value. Each compensation value calculates by the correlation regression analysis and the air-tightness data. After the compensation of the resulting difference in T/T, L/S, SL indicate 5.4%, 2.5%, 1.0% respectively.

The government has established a zero-energy roadmap in accordance with its 2050 carbon neutrality strategy, and from 2023 onwards, residential buildings with 30 generations or more must be constructed as zero-energy structures. In response to this, measures for energy conservation through enhanced building tightness are being developed. The LH (Land and Housing Corporation) aims to achieve the first-stage building tightness performance targets by 2022 in preparation for this. Currently, South Korea has the "KS L ISO9972 - Building Tightness - Measuring the airtightness of buildings by the fan pressurization method" as the method for measuring building tightness, which was established in 2006 and revised in 2016. In practice, the airtightness is measured using the Blower Door Test method, and it is expressed as ACH50 (the number of air changes per hour at a pressure difference of 50 Pa between the indoor and outdoor environments). This study aims to measure and analyze the airtightness of Happy Homes constructed from 2020 to 2022, categorized by building type.
This study is about design of vehicle for air tightness to pressure waves of high speed train. When the train runs to high speed over 300km/h, the comfort of passenger come down due to difference pressure between inside and outside of passenger room. The car-body was carried out the design of air-tightness, and the analysis of inside pressure of vehicle in tunnel by TG_TUN of ALSTOM Co. The result of analysis should be used the design of air pressurized system and car-body of G7 high speed train project.
In this paper, we first obtain some characterizations of compact subsets of the space of level-wise continuous fuzzy numbers in R by the modulus of continuity. Using this, we establish the tightness for a sequence of level-wise continuous fuzzy random variables.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of calf tightness on gait, plantar pressure, and balance in adults. Methods: A total of 60 participants were divided into a normal group of 30 subjects with normal dorsiflexion angle (20-25 degrees) and an experimental group of 30 subjects with limited dorsiflexion angle (0-15 degrees) due to calf tightness. Gait ability and foot pressure of the subjects was measured with a treadmill, and the balance ability was measured by PROKIN system. Results: A significant difference in COP length, loading response, and single limb support was observed between groups. The COP length and single limb support ratio in the normal group was greater than in the experimental group, but the experimental group showed a higher ratio for loading response in the gait ratio. Conclusion: Our results indicated that calf tightness was negative effects on balance and gait ability, so assessment of the muscle tightness should be considered during exercise and treatment.
On trends of 'well-being', heat recovery ventilators(HRV) are recently installed in high rise buildings. HRV is not energy saving instrument but ventilating one. But many people have not been aware of the accurate fact. In this study, performances of HRV are tested under foreign and domestic standards. Especially air-tightness is measured three times by using gas concentration method and pressing equipment. Wet effective ventilating air volume is acquired by solving gas concentration equations. After research air-tightness and effective ventilating air volume must be more focused on than heat transfer efficiency to select the optimal HRV. Heat transfer efficiency must be adjusted by air-tightness results.
