  • The development of advanced 3D printing technologies has opened up new opportunities for customized digital designs in the construction industry. Using nano- and micro-scale additives is expected to improve the performance of cement-based materials in 3D printing. TiO2 particles have been widely used as reinforcing additives in cement-based materials. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the application of cement-based materials containing multi-size TiO2 particles in binder jet 3D printing and the effect of different-size TiO2 particles on the performance of printed samples. TiO2 particles exhibit an excellent filling effect, which increases the density of the printed samples and promotes hydration, thereby improving the compressive strength of the samples. In addition, larger TiO2 particles exert more pronounced filling and photocatalytic effects on the resulting samples.

  • We prepared the nano-sized $TiO_2$ particles by the diffusion flame reactor and investigated the effects of several process variables on the generation and transport properties of $TiO_2$ particle. As the length from the tip of diffusion flame reactor increases, the size of $TiO_2$ particle increases by the coagulation between particles. The structure of $TiO_2$ particles prepared is almost found to be anatase. It was found that the $TiO_2$ particle size depends more largely on the change of reactor temperature than on the change of inlet $TiCl_4$ concentration. By the photo-degradation experiment of phenol and toluene with the prepared $TiO_2$ particles, we found that the photo-degradation efficiencies of phenol and toluene change, depending on the process variables such as size of $TiO_2$ photocatlysts, concentration of phenol or toluene. Degradation efficiencies of phenol and toluene was above 90% in our experiments in 60 minutes.

수열법에 의한 $BaTiO_3$ 미립자의 합성 (Hydrothermal synthesis of $BaTiO_3$ fine particles)

  • 수열법에 의하여 $BaTiO_3$ 미립자를 합성하였다. 출발원료로는 $TiO_2$$Ba(OH)_2{\cdot}8H_2O$를 사용하고 과량의 $Ba(OH)_2{\cdot}8H_2O$를 투입함으로써 증류수만을 용매로 사용하여 $150^{\circ}C$의 저온에서 BaTiO3 미립자를 합성할 수 있었다. 합성된 입자의 형태는 구형에 가까운 부정형이었으며, 입자의 크기는 합성온도 및 Ba/Ti 원자비에 따라 변화되었다.

Effects of Ginsenosides Rg1 on Osteoblasts Cultured with Ti Particles

  • The aim of this study was to explore the role and effect of ginsenosides Rg1 on osteoblasts cultured with Ti particles. Osteoblasts from neonatal rats were cultured with particles and different doses of Rg1, the main active ingredient in ginsenosides Rg1. We found that the COX-2, $PGE_2$, TNF-${\alpha}$, IL-1, and IL -6 concentrations in the medium of cells cultured with Ti particles significantly increased as compared with that of the control cells (p<0.05 or p<0.01). In addition, cells cultured with Ti particles alone exhibited the highest concentrations of these molecules. The $PGE_2$, TNF-${\alpha}$, IL-1, and IL-6 levels in the medium of cells cultured with Rg1 were in between those of the control cells and the cells cultured with Ti particles alone. The IL-1ra level in the group cultured with Ti and medium-dose Rg1 was the highest followed by the cells cultured with Ti and high-dose Rg1 and those cultured with Ti and low-dose Rg1 (p<0.05). In conclusion, ginsenosides can reduce the levels of infl ammatory cytokines produced by osteoblasts on induction with Ti particles and can prevent prosthesis loosening.

기계적 합금화 시료에서 미소상 피이크의 소멸현상 해석(II) (Detail analysis of the peak disappearance of minor phase in mechanically alloyed samples(II))

  • Refining of powder particles and their dissolution into the Al matrix during mechanical alloying(MA) were investigated by using X-ray diffraction(XRD) transmission electron microscopy (TEM) functions of alloy composition, milling time and ball to powder ratio(BPR). It is found that Ti particles less than 20nm are observed in a dark field image of mechanically alloyed Al-10wt%Ti whose XHD pattern exhibits no Ti peak. The observed change of lattice constant of AI indicates that about 1 wt%Ti can he solved in Al after MA for a long time, independent of alloy composition, milling time and BPR, suggesting that most of Ti particles arc retained in the Al matrix. It is concluded that the disappearance of XRD peaks in mechanically alloyed Al-10wt%Ti is not simply attributable to the dissolution of Ti into Al, but associated mainly with extreme refining and/or heavy straining of Ti Particles.

Microstructure and Hardness of TiC Particle-reinforced Fe Self-fluxing Alloy Powders Based Hybrid Composite Prepared by High Energy Ball Milling

  • The Fe-based self-fluxing alloy powders and TiC particles were ball-milled and subsequently compacted and sintered at various temperatures, resulting in the TiC particle-reinforced Fe self-fluxing alloy hybrid composite, and the microstructure and micro-hardness were investigated. The initial Fe-based self-fluxing alloy powders and TiC particles showed the spherical shape with a mean size of approximately 80 ${\mu}m$ and the irregular shape of less than 5 ${\mu}m$, respectively. After ball-milling at 800 rpm for 5 h, the powder mixture of Fe-based self-fluxing alloy powders and TiC particles formed into the agglomerated powders with the size of approximately 10 ${\mu}m$ that was composed of the nanosized TiC particles and nano-sized alloy particles. The TiC particle-reinforced Fe-based self-fluxing alloy hybrid composite sintered at 1173 K revealed a much denser microstructure and higher micro-hardness than that sintered at 1073 K and 1273 K.

Mg$B_2$와 FeTi 합성체의 자기적 성질 (Magnetic properties of $MgB_2$ and FeTi composites)

  • MgB$_2$ and FeTi composites was prepared to study the effect of FeTi particles on superconductivity of MgB$_2$. The sample, which had contained magnesium, boron and FeTi particles, was synthesized by the Commercial Stainless Steel Tube Enveloping Technique(COSSET) at 92$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. The structure and properties of the sample was investigated by XRD, SEM, and SQUID magnetometer. It was found that there was a little change of T$_{c}$ compared with pure MgB$_2$ superconductor in spite of high percentage of FeTi particles, and there was no proof of structure change of MgB$_2$ superconductor due to FeTi particles. But the high porosity which was appeared in the pure MgB$_2$ was disappeared in the composites. We conclude that FeTi particles do not influence the superconductivity of MgB$_2$ and it is expected that fe-Ti material system will be a good material for a tube of the PIT process and for a substrate of the film.m.

  • 초음파 진동자를 사용 분무 열분해시켜 $Pb(NO_3)_2$$TiO(NO_3)_2$ 용액으로부터 $PbTiO_3$ 미분말을 합성하고 미립자의 특성을 조사하였다. 또한 미립자 형성과정을 같은 방법으로 합성되어 문헌에 보고된 $BaTiO_3$, $ZrO_2$, ZnO 등의 미립자 형성과정과 비교 검토하였다.

  • The effect of MgO diluents in combustion synthesis of $TiB_2$ nano particles was investigated. The reaction $TiO_2\;+\;B_2O_3\;+\;xMg\;{\rightarrow}\;TiB_2\;+\;5MgO$ was used to synthesize $TiB_2$ nano particles. The combustion velocity was measured to examine the relation between the reaction temperature and the morphologies of particles. The diluent MgO did not react with the reactants and played a role to decrease combustion temperature. As the MgO diluents contents increased, the particles with the smaller size and the narrower size distribution were synthesized. At the condition of 6 mole of MgO, the combustion wave velocity was about 5 cm/see and the synthesized particles showed the size of 60 nm with narrow size distribution.

  • Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell(DSSC) is a new type of solar cell by using photocatalytic properties of $TiO_2$. The size and shape of $TiO_2$ particle are two of important parameters that are related to the characteristics of DSSC. And these can be changed by controlling $TiO_2$ sintering conditions especially temperature. The particles of $TiO_2$ are classified anatase and rutile. Anatase particles are created at low sintering temperature and rutile particles are created at high sintering temperature. Anatase particles have advantages such as increased surfaces that cause more attached dye molecules, and fast electron transportation. And rutile particles have advatages such as more efficient light scattering. Therefore, we studied characteristics of DSSC in this paper as $TiO_2$ sintering temperature is varied. As a result, we found that characteristics of DSSC are very good in the case that anatase and rutile particles are together and this sintering temperature is 450$^{\circ}C$.
