Dynamic Oxidation Behaviors of Aluminide Coated Titanium Alloys (알루미나이드 코팅된 티타늄 합금의 동적산화거동)

  • Titanium alloys has been received an attention due to their excellent specific strength and many other superior properties in the application of components of flying subjects. In this study, Ti-6Al-4V (Ti64 alloy) has been selected in order to evaluate oxidation and degradation behaviors under the exposure of high temperature flame. The alloy has been coated with Al diffusion coating routes. The coated alloys showed an improved oxidation and degradation behaviors. The oxidation and degradation mechanism for the coated and uncoated alloys has been discussed in terms of microstructural observations.

Effects of As Ions Implanted in Si Substrates on the Titanium -Silicides Formation (Si기판에 주입된 As이온이 Titanium-Silicides 형성에 미치는 영향 -Ⅰ-)

  • Sputter-deposited Ti film on Si substrates which were implanted with various doses of As was annealed at the temperature of 600-900$^{circ}C$ for 20 sec in Ar atmosphere. The sheet resistance of Ti-silicides was measured by 4-point probe, the thickness by $alpha$-step, and observed the behavior of As dopant in Si substrates by ASR. With increasing As doses, the thickness of Ti-silicides decreased and the sheet resistance of Ti-silicides increased. And we discussed the relationships between the above results and the factors of Si diffusion.

Interpretation of Hydrothermal Synthesis of BaTiO3 Powder (BaTiO3 분말의 수열합성 해석)

  • In Preparing $BaTiO_3$ powder under hydrothermal conditions, effects of reaction period feedstock concentration and mixing rate on crystallinity, mean size and size distribution of particles were studied. Experimental results showed that the particle size became smaller with its narrow distribution as the reaction period and mixing rate increased, but feedstock concentration decreased in contrast with the results based on the classical nucleation-growth model. From these results, $BaTiO_3$ particles seem to be prepared hydrothermally through a multiple reaction procedure that includes dissolution, precipitation, hydrolysis-condensation, aggregation, diffusion and transformation.

  • We demonstrated $\check{S}$olc-type wavelength filters in periodically poled Ti-diffused lithium-niobate channel optical waveguide (Ti:PPLN). A $\check{S}$olc-type transmission spectrum based on the polarization-mode conversion was observed experimentally in PPLN with period 16.6${\mu}m$. A reasonable explanation of such a phenomenon was presented. A polarization-mode converted transmission peak was observed at wavelength 1272.49nm. The FWHM and sidelobe of spectrum are about 0.23nm and 7 dB, respectively.

Effects of Ce Addition and Isothermal Aging on the Elevated Temperature Tensile Properties of Mechanically Alloyed Al-Ti Alloys (기계적합금화한 Al-Ti 합금의 고온 인장 특성에 미치는 Ce의 첨가와 등온열처리의영향)

  • 기계적합금화 한 AI-Ti합금의 상온 및 고온 인장강도는 25at.% Ti을 Ce으로 치환함에 따라 증가하였다. 그러나 25at.% 이상의 Ce첨가는 합금의 인장강도를 감소시켰다. 이는 Ce이 적은 고용도 효과에 의해 금속간화합물의 초대화를 억제하여 합금의 강도를 증가시키지만 다량 첨가시에는 Ti에 비해 무거운 원자량으로 인해 분산상의 부피분율을 감소시켜 합금의 강도가 오히려 저하시킨 것으로 생각된다. Ce의 첨가는 40$0^{\circ}C$와 51$0^{\circ}C$에서 합금의 열저안정성을 향상시키는 것으로 나타났다. 300-51$0^{\circ}C$ 온도범위에서 측정된 AI-8wt.%(Ti+Ce)합금의 변형에 필요한 활성화에너지는 AI의 자기확산에 필요한 에너지 (142kJ/mode)의 1.3-1.9배로 나타났다. 이로부터 AI-Ti-Ce 합금의 고온 변형은 Orowan기구에 의한 것을 생각된다.

  • A T-shape structure was manufactured by the superplastic forming and diffusion bonding process using two Ti-3Al-2.5V alloy tubes. A Ti-3Al-2.5V tube was prepared for the hydroforming in the superplastic condition until it reaches a surface area such as a roof welded in the hole of another Ti-3Al-2.5V tube. Afterward, the superplastic forming process and the diffusion bonding process were carried out simultaneously until the appropriate bonding along the interface area of two Ti-3Al-2.5V tubes was obtained. The bonding qualities were different at each location of the entire interface according to the applied process conditions such as strain, pressure, temperature, holding time, geometries, etc. The microstructures of bonding interface have been observed to understand the characteristics of the applied processes in this study.

A Study on Characteristics of TiN Thin Films Deposited by Unbalanced Magnetron Sputtering Method for the Application of Diffusion Barrier Layers in Displays (디스플레이 확산 방지층 응용을 위한 비대칭 마그네트론 스퍼터로 증착된 질화 티타늄 박막의 특성에 대한 연구)

  • TiN thin films were fabricated using an unbalanced magnetron sputtering (UBMS) system, and their structure and surface characteristics as well as their optical and tribological properties were evaluated. The hardness, elastic modulus, adhesive force, surface roughness, and transmittance of the Ti thin films fabricated using the UBMS system were 11.5 GPa, 103 GPa, 27.5 N, 2.45 nm and 20%, respectively. The TiN films prepared with various proportions of nitrogen as the reaction gas exhibited maximum values for the hardness, elastic modulus, critical load, RMS roughness and transmittance of approximately 19.2 GPa, 182 GPa, 27.3 N, 0.98 nm, and 85%, respectively. Moreover, the TiN thin film fabricated under the condition of 30 sccm nitrogen gas showed the optimal physical properties. In summary, the TiN thin films fabricated using the UBMS system exhibited excellent hardness, elastic modulus, adhesion, and smooth surface in addition to good hydrophilic properties.

  • Two dimensional transition metal carbides and/or nitrides, known as MXenes, are a promising electrode material in energy storage due to their excellent electrical conductivity, outstanding electrochemical performance, and abundant functional groups on the surface. Use of $Ti_3C_2$ as electrode material has significantly enhanced electrochemical performance by providing more chemically active interfaces, short ion-diffusion lengths, and improved charge transport kinetics. Here, we reports the efficient method to synthesize $Ti_3C_2$ from MAX phase, and opens new avenues for developing MXene based electrode materials for Lithium-Ion batteries.

  • 휴대용 정보기기의 보급이 확산되고 기능과 함계 외관 디자이이 중시되면서 건식코팅을 이용한 외관 색상구현이 많은 관심을 박도 있다. 기존에 사용되던 공정은 오염물질 규제로 인해서 더 이상 사용할 수 없기 때문이다. 본 연구에서는 스퍼터링을 이용하여 다양한 조성의 티타늄 화합물을 합성하고 조성에 따라 화합물의 색상이 어떻게 변하는지 알아보았다.

Fabrication of a $LiNbO_3$ Single-Mode Optical Waveguide ($LiNbO_3$ 단일모드 광도파관의 제작)

  • Deposited film of a transition metal, Ti was diffused into LiNbO3 crystals to form integrated optical waveguides. By suppressing L O out -diffusion, single-mode waveguides could be constructed. Measurements on characteristics were performed by using the prise coupling technique and a He-Ne laser. ( λ = 0.6328 $\mu$m)
