  • This paper represents an adaptive position controller with the disturbance observer for multi-axis servo system. The overall control system consists of three parts : the position controller, the disturbance observer with free parameters and cross-coupled controller which enhances contouring performance by reducing errors. Using two-degrees-of freedom conception, we design the command input response and the closed loop characteristics independently. The servo system can improve the closed loop characteristics without affecting the command input response. The characteristics of the closed loop system is improved by suppressing disturbance torque effectively with the disturbance observer. Moreover, the cross-coupled controller enhances tracking performance. Thus total position control performance is improved. Finally, the performance of the proposed controller shows that it improves the contouring performance along with the reference trajectory in the XY-table.

  • We introduce the two-dimensional spectral observations of solar flares using the Solar Tower Tele-scope of Nanjing University, China. In particular, we introduce three typical events and the methods used to analyze the data. (1) The flare of November 11, 1998, which is a limb flare. We derive the temperature and density within the flaring loop using non-LTE calculations. The results show that the loop top may be hotter and denser than other parts of the loop, which may be a result of magnetic reconnect ion above the loop. (2) The flare of March 10, 2001, which is a white-light flare that shows an emission enhancement at the near infrared continuum. We propose a model of non-thermal electron beam heating plus backwarming to interpret the observations. (3) The flare of September 29, 2002, which shows unusual line asymmetries at one flare kernel. The line asymmetries are caused by an upward moving plasma that is accelerated and heated during the flare development.

  • This paper presents the position tracking control of a closed-loop cylinder system using electro-rheological (ER) valve actuators. After manufacturing three sets of cylindrical ER valves on the basis of Bingham model of ER fluid, a 3 dof(degree-freedom) closed-loop cylinder system having the heave, roll and pitch motions is constructed. The governing equations of motion are derived using Lagrange's equation and a control model is formulated by considering nonlinear characteristics of the system, Sliding mode controllers are the designed for these ER valve actuators in order to achieve position tracking control. The effectiveness of trajectory tracking control performance of the proposed cylinder system is demonstrated through computer simulation and experimental implementation of the sliding mode controller.

  • This paper is about control of Automated Guided Vehicle for path following using fuzzy logic controller. The Automated Guided Vehicle is a tricycle wheeled mobile robot with three wheels, two fixed passive wheels and one steering driving wheel. First, kinematic and dynamic modeling for Automated Guided Vehicle is presented. Second, a controller that integrates two control loops, kinematic control loop and dynamic control loop, is designed for Automated Guided Vehicle to follow an unknown path. The kinematic control loop based on Fuzzy logic framework and the dynamic control loop based on two PID controllers are proposed. Simulation and experimental results are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed controllers.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to describe the code tracking performance of a non-coherent digital delay lock loop (DLL) or coherent DLL while tracking GNSS signal in the presence of signal masking. The masking effect is usually caused by buildings that obscure the signal in either a periodic or random manner. In some cases, ideal masking is used to remove random or periodic interference. Three types of the masked signal are considered - no masking, periodic masking, and random masking of the signal input to the receiver. The mean time to lose lock (MTLL) of the code tracking loop are evaluated, and some numerical result and simulation results are reported. Finally, the steadystate tracking errors on the performance of the tracking loop in interference environment are also presented.

  • In this paper we propose new approximate methods for the performance analysis of closed-loop production systems with unreliable machines and random processing times. Each approximate method decomposes the production system consisting of K machines into a set of K subsystems, each subsystem consisting of two machines separated by a finite buffer. Then, each subsystem is analyzed by three different analyzing methods in isolation. The population constraint of the closed-loop production system is taken into account by prescribing that the sum of average buffer levels in the subsystems is equal to the number of customers in the closed-loop production system. We establish a set of equations that characterize unknown parameters of the servers in the subsystems. An iterative procedure is then used to determine the unknown parameters. Experimental results show that these methods provide a good estimation of the throughput.

  • The goal of this study is to seek an educational method that bring major improvements of the tactical communication through setting a definition on the tactical communication and developing ways of the communication methods to petty officer majoring students in community college level. The study is formed a concept of the tactical communication based on the tactical soften influence and, set up three steps; Goal - Act - Achieving the purpose. The study clarifies that the tactical communication is formed by repeating three steps of 'Recognition - Understanding - Regarding - Act.' To suggest an efficient way of the tactical communication by reducing the repeating communication steps, the study proposes 'OODA loop' communication. The curriculum of Petty officer major students has three steps, Change - Apply - Present steps, with using the concept of 'OODA loop.' The curriculum method offers a way of improvement state on interpersonal and problem-solving abilities. This education method presents variety developed OODA loop situations to minimize the act step on conversing informations through objective perspective and helping faster decision making process.

  • Objective: Cambodia is located within the distribution range of the red junglefowl, the common ancestor of domestic chickens. Although a variety of indigenous chickens have been reared in Cambodia since ancient times, their genetic characteristics have yet to be sufficiently defined. Here, we conducted a large-scale population genetic study to investigate the genetic diversity and population genetic structure of Cambodian indigenous chickens and their phylogenetic relationships with other chicken breeds and native chickens worldwide. Methods: A Bayesian phylogenetic tree was constructed based on 625 mitochondrial DNA D-loop sequences, and Bayesian clustering analysis was performed for 666 individuals with 23 microsatellite markers, using samples collected from 28 indigenous chicken populations in 24 provinces and three commercial chicken breeds. Results: A total of 92 haplotypes of mitochondrial D-loop sequences belonging to haplogroups A to F and J were detected in Cambodian chickens; in the indigenous chickens, haplogroup D (44.4%) was the most common, and haplogroups A (21.0%) and B (13.2%) were also dominant. However, haplogroup J, which is rare in domestic chickens but abundant in Thai red junglefowl, was found at a high frequency (14.5%), whereas the frequency of haplogroup E was considerably lower (4.6%). Population genetic structure analysis based on microsatellite markers revealed the presence of three major genetic clusters in Cambodian indigenous chickens. Their genetic diversity was relatively high, which was similar to findings reported for indigenous chickens from other Southeast Asian countries. Conclusion: Cambodian indigenous chickens are characterized by mitochondrial D-loop haplotypes that are common to indigenous chickens throughout Southeast Asia, and may retain many of the haplotypes that originated from wild ancestral populations. These chickens exhibit high population genetic diversity, and the geographical distribution of three major clusters may be attributed to inter-regional trade and poultry transportation routes within Cambodia or international movement between Cambodia and other countries.
