A numerical prediction method has been proposed to predict non-linear free surface oscillation in a three-dimensional container. The fluid motions are numerically predicted with Navier-Stokes equations discretized in a Lagrangian scheme with sufficient numerical accuracy. The profile of a free surface is precisely represented with three-dimensional body-fitted coordinates (BFC), which are regenerated in each computational step on the basis of the arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) formulation. In order to confirm the reliability of the computational method, it was firstly applied to three-dimensional flows within complicated-shaped rigid boundaries, such as curved pipes and ducts. Than it was applied to benchmark computations related to free surface oscillations. Following these basic verifications, non-linear sloshings in a cylindrical tank and transitions from sloshing to swirling motions were numerically predicted. Throughout these computations, the applicability of the present computational method has been confirmed and some of the predicted free surface motions were visualized as sequential images and animations to understand their dynamic futures.

This paper focuses on the spatial changes that create a three-dimensional or deep feeling on the surface of a scarf centering on the cube shape. Through this, consumers with various tastes were able to satisfy their image presentation. The cube form has simplicity and order and is likely to be used as a formative object. The cube shapes can be expressed in various forms through visual and perceptual spatial changes by presenting various shape changes based on the viewpoint of the two-dimensional silk surface, that is, by changing the eyes' position and orientation. Various visual theorists' discussions about cube-shaped visual changes were discussed. In addition, the three-dimensional spatial illusion caused by the shape and color of Victor Bazaarelli's cube was examined. The cube shape was printed silk surfaces to give a three-dimensional sense of space on a two-dimensional scarf design using the size change, the difference in the length of the line, and the color change. As such, the cube shape has infinite possibilities as a method that can express three-dimensional depth and space on the flat surface of a scarf. Therefore, it is hoped that this study will be applied to various aspects as the basic data for the scarf design that expresses the spatial changes in the form of cubes.
The non-dimensional fin length for optimum heat loss from a thermally asymmetric rectangular fin is represented as a function of the ratio of the bottom surface Biot number to the top surface Biot number, fin tip surface Biot number and the non-dimensional fin width. Optimum heat loss is taken as 98% of the maximum heat loss. For this analysis, three dimensional separation of variables method is used. Also, the relation between the ratio of the bottom surface Biot number to the top surface Biot number and the ratio of the right surface Biot number to the left surface Biot number is presented.
A three dimensional model was developed to analyze the mold filling and solidification in the casting processes. The model uses the VOF method for the calculation of the free surface and the modified Equivalent Specific Heat method for the treatment of the latent heat evolution. The solution procedure is based on the SIMPLER algorithm. The complete model has been validated using the exact solutions for phase change heat transfer and the experimental results of broken water column. The three-dimensional model has been applied to the benchmark test and the results were compared to those from experiment, a two-dimensional analysis, and another three dimensional numerical model.

The problem of the oblique water entry of a three dimensional body is considered. Wagner theory is the theoretical framework. Applications are discussed for an elliptic paraboloid entering an initially flat free surface. A dedicated experimental campaign yields a data base for comparisons. In the present analysis, pressure, force and dynamics of the wetted surface expansion are assessed.
This study is to show the qualitative analytic methods of facial asymmetry with three-dimensional morphometry and find out asymmetry change resulted from enlarging three local regions. Steel balls (1.2mm in diameter) were attached in twenty seven landmarks of a symmetrical artificial human skull. This artificial human skull was used as experimental materials. Twelve different asymmetrical artificial human skulls were formed by gradually enlarging the mandibular body length, gonial angle, and ramus height of the left hemiface. From the three-dimensional morphometry of each skull type, nine local area measurements and three total sum area measurements(representing the mandibular area, maxillary area, and lower facial area) were acquired and made into the surface area asymmetry degree. Menton deviation itself was used as the surface area asymmetry degree while right-left percentages were used in the other measurements. These surface area asymmetry degrees were compared with each other to find out asymmetry change according to the degree of actual facial asymmetry. Through the statistical analysis, following results were obtained. The results were as follows: 1. Left maxillary area of artificial human skull was 7.13$\pm$0.26% larger while mandibular area was 4.14$\pm$0.12% smaller than each those of right hemiface. After all, left lower facial area was 1.44$\pm$0.07% larger than those of right hemiface.(n=7). 2. Among the reduce rates of surface area asymmetry degree resulted from enlarging three local regions, ramus height was similar to mandibular body length while it was bigger than those of gonial angle. 3. Among the increase rates of menton deviation resulted from enlarging the local regions, ramus height was the biggest, mandibular body length was the second and gonial angle was the smallest. These results suggest that three-dimensional morphometry can be used to qualitatively analyse facial asymmetry and the asymmetry degree is more influenced by enlarging the ramus height, mandibular body length than those of gonial angle.
In the present study, a three-dimensional least square/level set based two-phase flow code was developed for the simulation of three-dimensional sloshing problems using finite element discretization. The present method can be utilized for the analysis of a free surface flow problem in a complex geometry due to the feature of FEM. Since the finite element method is employed for the spatial discretization of governing equations, an unstructured mesh can be naturally adopted for the level set simulation of a free surface flow without an additional load for the code development except that solution methods of the hyperbolic type redistancing and advection equations of the level set function should be devised in order to give a bounded solution on the unstructured mesh. From the numerical experiments of the present study, it is shown that the proposed method is both robust and accurate for the simulation of three-dimensional sloshing problems.

Finite element analysis of material deformation is successfully utilized to understand metal forming processes such as forging, extrusion and deep drawing. However, such analysis involves contact problems; a free node touches a die surface and a contact node slips along the die surface. In the present investigation, appropriate contact algorithms were developed assuming that a three dimensional surface can be divided into bilinear patches and that nodal velocities are linear during an incremental time. The algorithms were coded into a computer program and tested for a simple surface. Comparison of the test result with that obtained from a commercial code is presented and discussed.
This study was intended to develop the design program of the working surface of moldboard-plow by use of the computer-aided design. The mathematical model of the working surfaces of moldboard-plows by use of computer graphics was developed and plotted in two dimension on three major planes. The surfaces of moldboard-plows were represented with "B-spline surface fitting" by selecting the twenty-five three-dimensional data that could well describe the working surface of moldboard-plow. The shape of moldboard-plow on three major planes was drawn for varied design parameters. The representation of the mathematical model for the working surfaces of various types of moldboard-plows was manipulated by translation, rotation and scaling about arbitrary axes in space. By using three-dimensional graphics techique to describe moldboard-plows, it was capable of plotting the three-dimensional shape of moldboard-plow easily and quickly in comparison with the existing design methods that were difficult to grasp the shape of moldboard-plow as a whole. The design theories of moldboard plow and three-dimensional computer graphic technique were applied to find out the improved reversible Jaenggi bottom. It was resulted in the newly developed shape of Jaenggi which may be used for improving the performance compared to existing ones.

Dense and fine polymer patterns often collapse, as they come into contact with each other at their protruding tips. Resist pattern collapse depends on the aspect ratio of patterns and the surface tension of rinsing materials. The pattern collapse is a very serious problem in microfabrication, because it is one of the factors which limit the device dimensions. The reasons for the pattern collapse are known as the surface tension of rinse liquid, centrifugal force and rinse liquid flow produced in the developing process. In this work, we tried to evaluate the pattern collapse of three-dimensional microstructures that were fabricated by two-photon induced photopolymerization, and showed the way how to reduce the deformation of microstructures.
