설계인자변화에 따른 엔진 벌크헤드 내구성 향상 (Durability Improvement of Engine Bulkhead by Adjusting Design Parameters)

  • Three-dimensional finite element analyses have been performed to improve the durability of bulkhead. To keep pace with design changes and concentrate on regions of interest, SUBMODEL technique in ABAQUS was used for analysis. An analysis was conducted with following load cases: 1) Cap press-fit, 2) Bearing crush, 3) Bolt assembly, 4) Hot assembly, 5) Firing load, 6) Alternating firing load, 7) 2nd hot assembly. Fatigue analysis was done using commercial software FEMFAT and fatigue factors at the interested regions such as bolt tip area, counter bore, breathing hole, honing clearance were calculated and compared to aid design validation. Finite element modeling in the area of thread engagement used a simple constraint equations. Increasing bolt length, to a minimum of 39 mm above joint face gives a better fatigue resistance to the bulkhead. Breathing hole helps not only circulate the air in the crankcase but also fatigue resistance of bulkhead by relieving the stress at the critical locations.

  • The external contour of an implant can have significant effects on the load transfer characteristics and may result in different bone failure rates for different implant system. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of crest module shape and occlusal load direction on bone failure modes of five commercially available dental implant systems. Five different implant systems with internal connection; ITI (Model 1), Astra (Model 2), Bicon (Model 3), Friadent (Model 4), and Paragon (Model 5), comparable in size, but different in thread profile and cest module shapes, were compared using the finite element method. Conclusively, in the internal connection system of the implant-abutment connection methods, the stress-induced pattern at the supporting bone according to the abutment connection form had differenence among them, and implants with narrowing crestal module cross-sections at the top of the cortical bone created more favorable load transfer characteristics in this region. But it is considered that the future study is necessary about how this difference in the magnitude of the stress have an effect on the practical clinic.

풍력터빈 지지구조물의 볼트 체결된 L형 플랜지에 대한 인장 실험 및 FE해석 (Tensile Experiment and FE Analysis of L-type Flange Bolt Connection in Wind Turbine Support Structures)

  • In this study, a tensile test and FE analysis were conducted on a bolt-connected L-shaped flange to evaluate its behavior and load resistance. A total of five specimens were manufactured using the inner and outer distances and bolt diameters of the L-type flange as experimental variables. As a result of the tensile test of the L-shaped flange, as the internal and external length ratio (b/a) increased, the maximum load decreased and the maximum displacement increased. As the diameter (d) of the bolt increased, the maximum load and the deformation of the wall increased. The shapes of the destruction specimens showed two forms of destruction: one due to the fall of the nut and the surrender of the bolt as the thread of the bolt and nut was worn out, followed by the surrender of the wall. As a result of FE analysis, it was found that elasto-plastic model (EPM) analysis similarly tracks the behavior of the tensile test results.

Load-transferring mechanism and evaluation theory of bolt with single and double nut fasteners

  • The use of the ordinary double nut (i.e., ODN) composed of a master nut (i.e., M-nut) and a slave nut (i.e., S-nut) is a highly efficient method to prevent bolts loosening. A novel double nut (i.e., FODN) composed of a master nut (i.e., M-nut) and flat slave nut (i.e., FS-nut) is proposed to save raw materials. The bolt fastening tests with single nut, ODN and FODN are performed to investigate the preload and counterbalance forces. Corresponding finite element analysis (FEA) models are established and validated by comparing the preload with the experimental results. The load-bearing capacity, the extrusion effect, and the contact stress of each engaged thread for ODN and FODN are observed by FEA. The experimental and simulated results revealed that the bolt fastening with double-nut has different load-transferring mechanisms from single-nut. Nevertheless, for double-nut/bolt assemblies, the FS-nut can provide load transfer that is like that of the S-nut, and the FODN is a reasonable and reliable fastening method. Furthermore, based on the theory of Yamamoto, a formula considering the extrusion effect is proposed to calculate the preload distribution of the double-nut, which is applicable to varying thicknesses of slave-nuts in double-nut/bolt assemblies.

네트워크 프로세서를 이용한 기가비트 패킷 헤데 수집기 (A Gigabit Rate Packet Header Collector using Network Processor)

  • 본 논문에서는 기가비트 트래픽에서도 높은 패킷 헤더 수집률(packet header collection ratio)을 보이는 멀티프로세서(multi-processor), 멀티쓰레드(multi-thread)를 채용한 네트워크 프로세서 기반의 패킷 헤더 수집기를 제안한다. 제안 패킷 수집기는 기가비트 트래픽 패킷 헤더를 분리하여 여러 대의 100Mbps MAC 포트로 분산하여 전달할 수 있는 구조를 가지고 있다. 제안된 구조는 고속 트래픽 처리를 위해 독창적인 버퍼관리 기법과 프로세서간 부하 분산 기법을 사용하고 있으며, 풍부한 실험을 퐁해 그 성능을 검증하였다.

허브스페이스의 구조적 안전성 해석에 대한 연구 (A Study on Structural Safety Analysis of Hub Space)

  • This study investigates the analysis result of structure and fatigue due to the models of the hub space with bolt joint at wheel and the existence or nonexistence of hub ring as the part of suspension system of vehicle. As the static analysis result, the structural vulnerability can be found at hub bolt and the center of wheel at three models. Model 2 and 3 have nearly same deformation and model 1 can be endured at the least load among three models. As the fatigue analysis result, fatigue lives of three models are same at the severest load of SAE bracket history. As many screw threads of weak bolts are jointed in case of model 1, model 1 is shown to be the weakest at fatigue damage among three models. By the result of this study, model 1 with bolt joint becomes most weakest among three models. As model 2 with no hub ring and model 3 with hub ring have the nearly same states of analysis results, hub ring is shown to have no influence on the safety of automotive driving.

볼트의 체결 강성이 추력 시험대에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of the Bolted Joint Stiffness on the Thrust Measurement Stand)

  • 본 논문은 볼트 체결 강성이 추력 시험대에 미치는 영향을 연구한 것이다. 추력 시험대는 추진기관의 추력 성능을 평가하는 장비로 추력, 피치력, 요력(3 분력) 작용선에 대응하는 3 분력 계측선간의 평행도와 3 분력 계측선의 상호 직각도가 다분력 추력시험대의 성능을 좌우한다. 따라서 시험대의 초기 형상을 작동 상태에서 유지시키는 것이 추력 시험대의 핵심 기능이다. 본 논문에서는 추력 시험대의 볼트 체결과 로드셀 트레인의 나사 체결의 공차 정확도가 추력 시험대에 미치는 현상을 규명하고 이를 극복하는 방안을 제시하였다.

  • 콘크리트 구조물에서는 인장응력에 대한 저항과 콘크리트내의 하중전달을 위한 철근이음이 고려되어야 한다. 현재 사용되고 있는 철근의 이음방법으로는 전통적으로 사용되는 겹침이음과 함께 채움금속이음을 갖는 슬리브이음과 전조 평행나사 이음과 같은 기계적 철근연결방법 등이 사용되고 있다. 본 연구는 기존에 사용되고 있는 기계적 철근 이음의 시공성과 구조적 성능을 개선하기 위하여 전조 변단면 철근이음을 제안하고 이를 적용한 철근의 구조성능과 파괴거동을 평가하기 위하여 철근연결 종류 및 체결 특성을 고려한 인장강도 실험과 휨하중 실험을 실시하였다. 이를 통하여 제안된 전조 변단면 이음을 적용한 철근의 인장강도 및 휨성능을 비교 평가하였다. 본 연구결과 전조변단면 이음을 적용한 철근이 이음이 없는 철근과 비교하여 동일한 구조성능을 가지는 것으로 나타나 철근콘크리트 구조물의 철근 이음을 위하여 사용할 수 있을 것이다.

Evaluation of Bearing Strength of Self-Tapping Screws according to the Grain Direction of Domestic Pinus densiflora

  • To evaluate the bearing strength of red pine cross-laminated timber (CLT) with self-tapping screw (STS), which is widely used as a fastener for connection in CLT building, the bearing test was conducted. Accoring to the STS's diameters (8, 10, 12 mm), the bearing test specimens with half hole were manufactured. Bearing strength was compared and reviewed in consideration of the configuration in STS and the loading direction to the grain of red pine. As a result of the bearing test on the STS's diameter, the yield bearing load increases as the larger diameter of the STS in all directions of the red pine. The bearing strength of the thread part (thread + tip) was higher than the shank part (shank + shank cutter). In compared with the directions to the grain of red pine, the bearing strength of the cross section parallel to the loading direction was the highest, and the tangent section was the lowest bearing strength. The average bearing strength of the loading direction in parallel to the grain was 23.43 MPa, which was about 45% higher than the average 16.16 MPa in perpendicular to the grain. The predicted bearing strength calculated by Eurocode (EN) and Korean Building Code (KBC)'s equation was lower than the experimental value. It is nessesary to propose the new equations of bearing strength reflected the configuration information of STS.

인트라넷 안에서 효율적인 수치해석을 구현하기 위한 자바기술 (Java Technology for Implementing Efficient Numerical Analysis in Intranet)

  • This paper introduces some useful Java technologies for utilizing the Internet in numerical analysis, and suggests one architecture performing efficient numerical analysis in the Intranet by using them. The present work has verified it's possibility by implementing some parts of this architecture with two easy examples. One is based on Servlet-Applet communication, JDBC and Swing. The other is adding multi-threads, file transfer and Java Remote Method Invocation to the former. Through this work it has been intended to make the base for the later advanced and practical research that will include efficiency estimates of this architecture and deal with advanced load balancing.
