Objectives : This study was executed in order to examine relationship between Sasang constitution and serum lipids in CVA patients. Method and Results : This study was done with 104 cases of stroke patients who admitted to department of the internal medicine Wonkwang university oriental hospital from September in 2004 to August in 2005. A study on the relationship among serum lipids : In T-cholesterol and triglyceride, T-cholesterol and HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and HDL-cholesterol. T-cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol, they had positive correlation each other. Between triglyceride and HDL-cholesterol, they had negative correlation each other. Distribution of serum lipids which it follows in stroke type : T-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol average of cerebral hemorrhage is higher than cerebral infarction. Distribution of serum lipids which it follows in Sasang constitution : T-cholesterol, triglyceride and LDL-cholesterol average of Taeyumin was higher than different types of Sasang constitution But it didn't have no statistically consideration Conclusions : The relationship between Sasang constitution and Serum lipids was not proven.
In this paper, we study the third order ordinary differential equation : $$x'(t)=f(t,x(t),x'(t),x'(t)),t{\in}(0,1)$$ subject to the boundary value conditions: $$x'(0)=x'(\xi),x'(1)=^{m-3}{\Sigma}_{i=1}{{\beta}x'({\eta}i),x'(1)=0}$$. Here ${\beta}_{i}{\in}R,\;^{m-3}{\Sigma}_{i=1}\;{\beta}_{i}\;=\;1,\;0<{\eta}_1<{\eta}_2<{\cdots}<{\eta}_{m-3}<1,\;0<\xi<1$. This is the case dimKer L = 2. When the ${\beta}_i$ have different signs, we prove some existence results for the m-point boundary value problem at resonance by use of the coincidence degree theory of Mawhin [12, 13]. Since all the existence results obtained in previous papers are for the case dimKerL = 1, our work is new.
The correlation search method yields velocity information by tracking scatter patterns between medical image frames. The displacement vector between a target region and the best correlated search region indicates the magnitude and direction of the inter-frame motion of that particular region. However, if the noise sources in the target region and the search region are correlated Gaussian, then the cross-correlation technique fails to work well because it estimates the cross-correlation of both signals and noises. In this paper we develop a new correlation search method which seeks the best correlated third-order statistics between a target and the search region to suppress the effect of correlated Gaussian noise sources. Our new method yields better estimations of velocity than the conventional cross-correlation method.
In this paper, the existence theorem of two positive solutions is established for nonlinear m-point boundary value problem by using an inequality for the following third-order differential equations $$({\phi}(u^{\prime\prime}))^{\prime}+a(t)f(t,u(t))=0,\;t{\in}(0,1)$$, $${\phi}(u^{\prime\prime}(0))=\sum^{m-2}_{i=1}a_i{\phi}(u^{\prime\prime}({\xi}_i)),\;u^{\prime}(1)=0,\;u(0)=\sum^{m-2}_{i=1}b_iu({\xi}_i)$$, where ${\phi}:R{\rightarrow}R$ is an increasing homeomorphism and homomorphism and $\phi(0)=0$. The nonlinear term f may change sign, as an application, an example to demonstrate our results is given.

This paper investigates an algorithm for robust fault diagnosis in robot manipulators. The TOSM (Third Order Sliding Mode observer) provides both theoretically exact observation and unknown fault identification without filtration. The EOI (Equivalent Output Injections) of the TOSM observers can be used as residuals for the problem of fault diagnosis and to identify the unknown faults. The obtained fault information can be used for fault detection, isolation as well as fault accommodation to the self-correcting failure system. The computer simulation results for a PUMA 560 robot are shown to verify the effectiveness of the proposed strategy.
Analytical solutions and finite element results of laminated composite plates with smart material layers embedded in them are presented in this study. The third-order plate theory of Reddy is used to study vibration suppression characteristics. The analytical solution for simply supported boundary conditions is based on the Navier solution procedure. The velocity feedback control is used. Parametric effects of the position of the smart material layers, material properties, and control parameters on the suppression time are investigated. It has been found that (a) the minimum vibration suppression time is achieved by placing the smart material layers farthest from the neutral axis, (b) using thinner smart material layers have better vibration attenuation characteristics, and, (c) the vibration suppression time is larger for a lower value of the feedback control coefficient.
A Ka-band 6-W high power microwave monolithic integrated circuit amplifier for use in a very small aperture terminal system requiring high linearity is designed and fabricated using commercial 0.15-${\mu}m$ GaAs pHEMT technology. This three-stage amplifier, with a chip size of 22.1 $mm^2$ can achieve a saturated output power of 6 W with a 21% power-added efficiency and 15-dB small signal gain over a frequency range of 28.5 GHz to 30.5 GHz. To obtain high linearity, the amplifier employs a class-A bias and demonstrates an output third-order intercept point of greater than 43.5 dBm over the above-mentioned frequency range.
Model Predictive Control (MPC) has recently found wide acceptance in industrial applications, but its potential has been much impounded by linear models due to the lack of a similarly accepted nonlinear modelling or data based technique. The authors have recently developed a new method for obtaining Volterra kernels of up to third order by use of pseudorandom M-sequence. By use of this method, nonparametric NMPC is derived in discrete-time using multi-dimensional convolution between plant data and Volterra kernel measurements. This approach is applied to an industrial polymerisation process using Volterra kernels of up to the third order. Results show that the nonparametric approach is very efficient and effective and considerably outperforms existing methods, while retaining the original data-based spirit and characteristics of linear MPC.
In this work, free vibration characteristics of functionally graded piezoelectric (FGP) nanobeams based on third order parabolic shear deformation beam theory are studied by presenting a Navier type solution as the first attempt. Electro-mechanical properties of FGP nanobeam are supposed to change continuously throughout the thickness based on power-law model. To capture the small size effects, Eringen's nonlocal elasticity theory is adopted. Using Hamilton's principle, the nonlocal governing equations for third order shear deformable piezoelectric FG nanobeams are obtained and they are solved applying analytical solution. By presenting some numerical results, it is demonstrated that the suggested model presents accurate frequency results of the FGP nanobeams. The influences of several parameters including, external electric voltage, power-law exponent, nonlocal parameter and mode number on the natural frequencies of the size-dependent FGP nanobeams is discussed in detail.
In this paper we address the problem of detecting and estimating an unknown narrow band signal in a noise interference environment A new practical band estimation method, yielding good performance even in case of finite-length data, is presented. More specifically, wavelet packet transform is utilized to detect the more accurate time-variant band, then we estimate the power from wavelet filter-coefficients of the respective band. Also, third-order cumulants, and projection cross-correlation (PCC) criterion are utilized to achieve an effective SNR improvement for the time-variant band estimation. In case of time variant band estimation, the PCC method yields better performance than the correlation method.
