The tunable electronic performance of the solution-processed semiconductor metal oxide is of great significance for the printing electronics. In current work, transparent thin-film transistors (TFTs) with indium-zinc oxide (IZO) were fabricated as active layer by a simple eco-friendly aqueous route. The aqueous precursor solution is composed of water without any other organic additives and the IZO films are amorphous revealed by the X-ray diffraction (XRD). With systematic studies of atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) and the semiconductor property characterizations, it was revealed that the electrical performance of the IZO TFTs is dependent on the concentration of precursor solution. As well, the optimum preparation process was obtained. The concentrations induced the regulation of the electronic performance was clearly demonstrated with a proposed mechanism. The results are expected to be beneficial for development of solution-processed metal oxide TFTs.
Self-patterning of thin films using photosensitive sol solution has advantages such as simple manufacturing process compared to photoresist/dry etching process. In this study, ferroelectric $Sr_{0.9}Bi_{2.1}Ta_2O_9$ thin films have been prepared by spin coating method using photosensitive sol solution. Strontium ethoxide, tertramethylheptanedionato bismuth and tantalum ethoxide were used as starting materials. As UV exposure time to the SBT thin film increased, the UV absorption peak intensity of metal ${\beta}$-diketonate decreased due to reduced solubility by M-O-M bond formation. Solubility difference by UV irradiation on SBT thin film allows to obtain a fine patterning of thin film. Also, The ferroelectric properties of the UV irradiated SBT thin films were superior to those of the no-UV irradiated films.
Recently, TFT LCD (thin film transistor liquid crystal display) manufacturing industry is more concerned with the ways of cleaning large TFT LCD´s with high pixed density than ever Ultrasonic cleaners with high frequencies like 1MHz (megasonic cleaners) are effective in removing very small particles without causing mechanical damage to the surface. In this study a megasonic cleaner for TFT LCD manufacturing process is developed and the performance is evaluated through experiments. The experimental results show that the developed magasonic cleaners is effective in removing very small particle from the LCD panel.
The optoelectronic display units such as TFT-LCD or OLED require many thin optical plastic films and their mass manufacturing processes employ CO2 laser cutting of those thin films in a large quantity. However, laser film cutting could generate fume particles through melt shearing, vaporization, and chemical degradation and those particles could be of great concern for film surface contamination. In order to appreciate the fume particle dispersion behaviors in laser film cutting, this study relies on random particle simulations by probabilistic distributions of particle size, ejection velocity and angles coupled with Basset-Boussinesq-Oseen model of particle trajectory in low Reynolds number flows. Here, up to one million particles of random sampling have been tested to effectively show fume particles dispersed on the film surface. The computational results could show that particular range of fume particle size could easily disperse into the pixel region of processed optical films.

Films with special properties (e.g., water-repellent films, optical films, anti-reflection films, and flexible films) are referred to as functional films. Recently, there has been interest in fine patterning methods for film fabrication. In particular there have been many studies that use a UV nanoimprint process involving a UV curing method. In this paper, a polymer film was fabricated by the UV nanoimprint process with a micro-pattern, and its durability was evaluated by a wear test and a nano-indentation test. The film mechanical properties (such as coefficient of friction, hardness, and modulus of elasticity) were measured. Moreover, the choice of PUA type resin used in the UV nanoimprint process was confirmed to impact the durability of the thin film. Despite making the polymer film samples using the same method and PUA type resin, different coefficient of friction, hardness, and modulus of elasticity values were obtained. PUA 4 resin had the most favorable coefficient of friction, hardness, and modulus of elasticity. This material is predicted to produce a high durability functional film.
As the semiconductor industry develops, the difficulty of newly required process technology becomes difficult, and the importance of production yield and product reliability increases. As an effort to minimize yield loss in the manufacturing process, interests in the process defect process for facility diagnosis and defect identification are continuously increasing. This research observed the plasma condition changes in the multi oxide/nitride layer deposition (MOLD) process, which is one of the 3D-NAND manufacturing processes through optical emission spectroscopy (OES) and monitored the result of whether the change in plasma characteristics generated in repeated deposition of oxide film and nitride film could directly affect the film. Based on these results, it was confirmed that if a change over a certain period occurs, a change in the plasma characteristics was detected. The change may affect the quality of oxide film, such as the film thickness as well as the interfacial surface roughness when the oxide and nitride thin film deposited by plasma enhenced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) method.

CdTe as an absorber material is widely used in thin film solar cells with the heterostructure due to its almost ideal band gap energy of 1.45 eV, high photovoltaic conversion efficiency, low cost and stable performance. The deposition methods and preparation conditions for the fabrication of CdTe are very important for the achievement of high solar cell conversion efficiency. There are some rearranged reports about the deposition methods available for the preparation of CdTe thin films such as close spaced sublimation (CSS), physical vapor deposition (PVD), vacuum evaporation, vapor transport deposition (VTD), closed space vapor transport, electrodeposition, screen printing, spray pyrolysis, metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD), and RF sputtering. The RF sputtering method for the preparation of CdTe thin films has important advantages in that the thin films can be prepared at low growth temperatures with large-area deposition suitable for mass-production. The authors reported that the optical and electrical properties of CdTe thin film were closely connected by the thickness-uniformity of the film in the previous study [1], which means that the better optical absorbance and the higher carrier concentration could be obtained in the better condition of thickness-uniformity for CdTe thin film. The thickness-uniformity could be controlled and improved by the some process parameters such as vacuum level and RF power in the sputtering process of CdTe thin films. However, there is a limitation to improve the thickness-uniformity only in the preparation process [1]. So it is necessary to introduce the external or additional method for improving the thickness-uniformity of CdTe thin film because the cell size of thin film solar cell will be enlarged. Therefore, the authors firstly applied the chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) process to improving the thickness-uniformity of CdTe thin films with a G&P POLI-450 CMP polisher [2]. CMP process is the most important process in semiconductor manufacturing processes in order to planarize the surface of the wafer even over 300 mm and to form the copper interconnects with damascene process. Some important CMP characteristics for CdTe were obtained including removal rate (RR), WIWNU%, RMS roughness, and peak-to-valley roughness [2]. With these important results, the CMP process for CdTe thin films was performed to improve the thickness-uniformity of the sputtering-deposited CdTe thin film which had the worst two thickness-uniformities of them. Some optical properties including optical transmittance and absorbance of the CdTe thin films were measured by using a UV-Visible spectrophotometer (Varian Techtron, Cary500scan) in the range of 400 - 800 nm. After CMP process, the thickness-uniformities became better than that of the best condition in the previous sputtering process of CdTe thin films. Consequently, the optical properties were directly affected by the thickness-uniformity of CdTe thin film. The absorbance of CdTe thin films was improved although the thickness of CdTe thin film was not changed.

This paper proposes a method for fabricating heatable glass using the conduction characteristics of metal thin films deposited on the surface of Low-e(Low emissivity) glass. The heating value of Low-e glass depends on the Joule heat caused by Low-e glass sheet resistance. Hence, its prediction and design are possible by measuring the sheet resistance of the material. In this study, silver electrodes were placed at 50 mm intervals on a soft Low-e glass sample with a low emissivity layer of 11 nm. This study measured the sheet resistance using a 4-point probe, predicted the power consumption and heating value of the Low-e glass, and confirmed the heating performance through fabrication and experience. There are two conventional methods for manufacturing heatable glass. One is a method of inserting nichrome heating wire into normal glass, and the other is a method of depositing a conductive transparent thin film on normal glass. The method of inserting nichrome heating wire is excellent in terms of the heating performance, but it damages the transparency of the glass. The method for depositing a conductive transparent thin film is good in terms of transparency, but its practicality is low because of its complicated process. This paper proposes a method for manufacturing heatable glass with the desired heating performance using Low-e glass, which is used mainly to improve the insulation performance of a building. That is by emitting a laser beam to the conductive metal film coated on the entire surface of the Low-e glass. The proposed method is superior in terms of transparency to the conventional method of inserting nichrome heating wire, and the manufacturing process is simpler than the method of depositing a conductive transparent thin film. In addition, the heat characteristics were compared according to the patterning of the surface thin film of the Low-e glass by an emitting laser and the laser output conditions suitable for Low-e glass.
$MgF_2$ is a current material for the optical applications in the UV and deep UV range. Process variables for manufacturing the $MgF_2$ thin film were established in order to clarify optimum conditions for growth of the thin film depending upon process conditions, and then by changing a number of vapor deposition conditions and substrate temperature, Annealing conditions variously, structural and Optical characteristics were measured. Thereby, optimum process variables were derived. Nevertheless, modern applications still require improvement of the optical and structural quality of the deposited layers. In the present work, the composition and microstructure of $MgF_2$ single layers grown on slide glass substrate by Electro beam Evaporator(KV-660) processes, were analyzed and compared. The surface Substrate temperature having an effect on the quality of the thin film was changed from 200[$^{\circ}C$] to 350[$^{\circ}C$] at intervals of 50[$^{\circ}C$]. and annealing temperature an effect on the thin film was changed from 200[$^{\circ}C$] to 400[$^{\circ}C$] at intervals of 50[$^{\circ}C$]. Physical properties of the thin film were investigated at various fabrication conditions substrate temperature, annealing and temperature, annealing time by XRD, FE-SEM.

The fabrication of nanopore membrane by deposition of Al2O3 film using electron-beam evaporation, which is fast, cost-effective, and negligible dependency on substance material, is investigated for potential applications in water purification and sensors. The decreased nanopore diameter owing to increased wall thickness is observed when Al2O3 film is deposited on anodic aluminum oxide membrane at higher deposition rate, although the evaporation process is generally known to induce a directional film deposition leading to the negligible change of pore diameter and wall thickness. This behavior can be attributed to the collision of evaporated Al2O3 particles by the decreased mean free path at higher deposition rate condition, resulting in the accumulation of Al2O3 materials on both the surface and the edge of the wall. The reduction of nanopore diameter by Al2O3 film deposition can be applied to the nanopore membrane fabrication with sub-100 nm pore diameter.
